I woke up early just as I normally do. I looked through the slight crack in the dark curtains that blocked out any sliver of light. I walked over to them and slowly slid them open to reveal the small bay of the window where my cat had curled up to sleep for the night. she's a cute little munchkin cat, she has a beautiful coat of blue grey that looks like a dark indigo color in the sun, so I named her indigo. I grabbed a pretty deep jade green pillow and placed in the bay of the window and curled up with indigo. I watched the owls and they brought in the early mail of the day. I saw hagrid emerge from his hut and feed buckbeak before walking back into the hut. as I glanced at the time I saw that I had about and hour and a half until my first lesson of the day, which was potions with snape. I left indigo to sleep while I walked over the the sink to get ready. I did the normal, brush teeth, wash face, brush out my long silvery hair, and put on a little bit of makeup as a little pick-up. when I finished I grabbed my robes and quickly changed before walking into the common room. I was the only one up it seemed. I glanced over at the table and saw that the mug of hot chocolate was empty, and there was a new note. I wasn't meaning to ditch you, I just don't do social very well. I also needed the toilet. very sorry. x draco ps could you clean the mug for me?
just as I pocketed the note and picked up the mug I heard the click of a door, and from the stairwell emerged draco.
"good morning," I smiled and cleaned the mug and set it back on the rack.
"good morning to you as well. you're on top of the game. how long have you been awake?" he asked.
"two and half hours? maybe only two. I sat with indigo for a while on my bay window before getting ready for class."
"indigo?" he questioned.
"my cat," I laughed.
"oh, makes sense. I don't have a pet," he said with and almost sad tone.
"i'm sorry. it's very nice to have a pet when you're like me. but you're different than me. so it might not be so bad."
"what do you mean, like you?"
"I don't have any friends. I quite literally go to class and do homework. that's it. but you on the other hand, you have crabbe and goyle. loads of girls flock to you. you're quite popular draco," I said.
"then why don't you be my friend? crabbe and goyle aren't very good friends. they don't really care you know. and neither do the girls. no one does now that I think of it. they like me because i'm popular and my father has a good job and good money. life isn't everything when you're popular," draco said sincerely.
"life isn't everything when you're lonely either," I said looking at the time again. "class is in fifteen minutes. snape won't be happy if head boy is late to his first class." I walked out of the common room after grabbing my books.
I requested for all my classes to be in the morning so i'd have a free afternoon. after all my classes were done I left through the castle doors down to the black lake to do some of my first day homework. I was about an hour deep into some work when I heard a voice.
"hello," emerged from the castle.
I looked up sharply to see who exactly was talking to me.
"I saw you doing homework from the astronomy tower, thought i'd come down to keep you company," draco smiles and he took a seat across from me.
"well thank you, that's very kind."
"you looked, hmm, lonely."
"I always am. even now. you're just a mere presence to me. I barely know you," I said looking back down at my arithmacy.
"let's change that." he had a hint of playfulness in his voice.
"but should we really?" I asked.
"yes." it was stern and to the point.
"alright. then, how do we do so?" I asked.
"tomorrow is friday, so saturday morning, bright and early, i'll meet you at the north gate and we'll go to hogsmeade for the day. ill get you whatever you'd like."
"draco malfoy," I smirked holding the feather of my quill to my face. "are you asking me on a date?"
"I certainly am maddox jade," he smiled. "so is that a yes?"
"it certainly is a yes," I smiled back.
he picked up his book and walked back to the castle. I, of all the girls who swoon over him, was asked on a date by draco malfoy. how did I get so lucky? I packed up my things and decided to go back to the castle to pick out what I would wear for this date. I was excited. draco was a very nice boy and I admired him. he was smart, he was kind, and he definitely had an ambitious side.
as I got back to the common room it was absolutely full of first years talking about their first day and their classes. I saw draco sitting in a corner reading a potions book looking confused. I smiled at him and walked past to my room. I opened the door to see indigo now on my bed. she woke up with the click of the door and meowed at me.
"hello indigo, you're looking especially pretty today," I smiled and petted her on the head.
I petted her for about ten or so minutes before walking to my wardrobe to look at the clothes I bought that weren't my school robes. this had to be perfect, not for me, for draco. he needed someone who would listen to him and be interested in him. not just there for the money.
