"well you might need that, it's a long story," I said and put my hand over the one he placed on my knee.
"don't be afraid. it's much worse to hold it all in. I would know."
"well, let start with the first nine years of my life. I was a pretty happy child. had a good family and I got mostly what I wanted. and then when I asked for a baby brother I got one just a year later. I was five when jasper was born. he was the best thing I could ask for. I loved watching him grow up to become the young little wizard he is today. four years went by, my dad had a great job at the ministry as an auror. we had a good bit of money, and that's how my dad would always bring sweets home from honeydukes. life was almost picture book perfect for the next four years. until the year I turned nine. everything changed. I remember it quite clearly. my mom was homeschooling me and my brother in hopes that we'd get our hogwarts letters in the years to come. but then, an owl was sent from the ministry. the letter explained that my father had been killed in a tragic accident during work. the body was to be cremated and sent back home for my mother. we stayed in england for another six or so months before my mother insisted on moving us to america. england reminded her to much of my father. before my father became an auror and before I was born my parents traveled all over england together for their honeymoon. my mother couldn't bear it anymore. so we packed up and moved to a northern state in america, maine. my brother was only four at the time. a few years passed and I became very secluded and kept to myself a lot. my mother was still homeschooling me, and the summer when I was eleven I received a letter from Ilvermorny, the wizarding school in America. I attended there for a year until the headmaster caught wind of who I actually was. he insisted on sending me to hogwarts and that's where we are now. my mother bought me indigo just this past summer as an early birthday gift. my brother is now ten and should be receiving a letter from hogwarts this summer. I've tried to convince my mother to move back to england, but she still doesn't feel that she can. so I plan to go home this summer and then come back for my next years at hogwarts. I'm sorry if that was a lot, but that's a basic rundown of my life," I explained all while petting indigo and sipping on my tea.
"I didn't know your dad died. or that you had a brother. also do you mind me asking what your father's name was?" draco asked.
"oh no, not at all. his name was alexander," I responded.
"my father knew yours. I recognize alexander and I remember when he died. my father came home talking about it. it was a big deal, you father was one of the best aurors the ministry had ever seen! who knew I would attend school with his daughter?"
"I'm not that great. don't make me seem any better than I am," I smiled.
"oh but you are!" he laughed and smiled back.
"why thank you good sir," I laughed.
he was so cute. and so happy. I'd never seen him this happy before. he has friends but he doesn't truly have anyone who cares. and neither do I. I understand how he feels. as I was thinking I was just kind of staring off, into space you could say, or maybe into his eyes. it's like the whole world around me was zoned out. unbeknownst to me, draco was trying to get my attention back into the real world. he was doing everything he thought possible. then he did the unthinkable. he ever so slowly leaned in, he placed a soft kiss directly on my lips and just stayed there for a moment as if he thought I was going to pull away. it took a moment to register what was going on, but after a second I relaxed into it. I slowly kissed back and it was nice. it's was, great... it was, beautiful.
I was speechless, breathless, and in a state of pure joy. I didn't want it to end. but it did.
I looked into his eyes as we broke apart, "why did you stop?"
"I thought it might've been too soon."
I took in a short breath, and shook my head, "definitely not." I raised my hand to the side of his face. my fingers in his hair and the pad of my thumb on his temple, I pulled his face closer to me and whispered, "can i?"
"yes," he whispered back.
I pulled his face closer again and met his lips with my own. we sat there, just kissing. he reached his hands down and around my waist and pulled my body closer to his. it was blissful. truly.
there was a knock at the door and I slowly backed out if the kiss, I forgot that all girls were to come to me for anything really. I excused myself and asked draco to sit in the windowsill just incase.
I opened the door, "yes?"
"I'm sorry to bother you jade, but some of the other first years who were friends before school are being mean to another first year from wales. could you talk to them?" asked a blonde girl who was on the shorter side.
"yes I can. give me one moment," I turned back to draco who now had a purring indigo crawling all over him and i mouthed that I could be right back.
I stepped out into the common room and saw exactly what she was referencing to. she went back to her spot in the common room where she looked to bed studying a potions book but on the opposite side of the room I saw four first years picking on another first year.
"ladies, can I talk with you?" I asked politely. they all turned around looking quite stunned and all nodded their heads. "I hate to be a mother figure here but I can't have you bullying other students. as of right now I will give you all a warning. but if I see it again I'm going to professor snape with it. understood?" I asked. they all nodded once again and apologized to the girl they were bullying.
I walked back into my room and saw draco still sitting in the window sill with indigo now asleep next to him, "where were we?" he stood up and met me half way at my bed and pulled me to sit down next to him. we kissed for a bit longer and then decided that it was getting late and he should go back to his own room so we could both get some sleep. I definitely had trouble falling asleep.
