Gauri paced to and fro , not angrily but nervously, she had no idea how would her mother react to her after knowing what she's going to talk about. Gauri's mother is a professor at a prestigious University , who gave her an ultimatum to get married.Gauri wanted to get married and have been waiting for her mother to notch the topic but she didn't want to marry the guy her mother had chose for her , she would rather die single than marry her stuck up Boss.

Omkara Singh Oberoi isn't just a name for her but a nightmare. He's her boss who finds wrong in whatever she does. It was exactly two years ago , after  completing her post graduation, she had been excited to work but nothing came her way. Seeing Gauri going down on herself , her mother Anjali had put this infront of her colleague Janvi Singh Oberoi, for a solution, whose husband had a business established well and running successfully. Janvi Oberoi got Gauri joined under her husband but everything toppled down when Gauri was deported to assist Omkara since he had fired his assistant.  Since then Gauri had been working for Omkara but poor Gauri never had peace thereafter. 

She felt as her boss was after her life , since she got the job with his mother's reference. 

Omkara's mother Janvi had sent a proposal for Gauri and Anjali being Janvi's friend, had accepted it without asking Gauri , now Gauri wanted to oppose her mother and had been waiting for her mother to reach home.

Gauri had a speech ready to put forward incase her mother wouldn't listen to her pleading.

“ You want to say something?”

“ How'd you know Maa ?”

“ I'm your mother Gauri , and I can read you well. Is it about the marriage?”

“ Haan Maa.I don't think I can marry Sir .” 

She said and waited for her mother to say something but Anjali remained silent. 

“ Maa ?”

“ Yes? ”

“ Why won't you say something ?”

“ What should I say when you have decided you don't want to marry Omkara?”

“ Maa… ” Gauri whined .

“ See , I have been single handedly looking after you all this while and I want you to get settled now. If you get married to Omkara then I'll be at peace thinking Janvi will take care of you. "

When Gauri remained silent , Anjali continued “ You will be here, nearby ,I can meet you anytime,ask you to come here.That's why I said yes . ”

“ Maa but he don't like me .”

“ Did he tell you that ?”

“ No. I haven't talked to him.”

“ It's not I'm pressuring you , talk to him , know him a bit more. Omkara had been always loving and caring towards me whenever I met him. I do find him suitable for you,  if you don't then no worries. I can refuse it but remember Janvi had helped us alot, when we're in dire need of it . ”

“ Maa , I know but ..”

“ What but Gauri ?  You know right how a nightmare was it to live with your dad. ”

Gauri didn't say anything thereafter, Anjali knew it was wrong of her to ask Gauri to marry someone she don't want to. But they both had no choice.

Gauri was ten years old when her parents separated ,their divorce was nothing less than a freedom for her. She didn't have a happy childhood. Her father,  Maheshwar Sharma was an accountant who came home everyday drunk and used to beat up her mother.  Anjali , her mother tolerated everything till that day when the harm was just on her but on a certain day , toe to head drunk Maheshwar didn't just beat Anjali but Gauri as well. That was the final nail to the coffin , the next day morning both mother daughter duo left to Anajali's father's home. But the stay didn't last long , after two years of court wanderings finally Anjali was granted divorce from Maheshwar.

Then again Anjali and Gauri had to move out from her father's home since it belonged to Anajali's two brothers whose wives were against having Anjali and Gauri home. With a distant relative's help , Anjali left the city and joined a school as a teacher even though the pay was not good she managed to give Gauri a flawless life , since she refused the alimony from her husband.

Meanwhile,  Anajali's father,  Ram Trivedi passed away and that made Anajali's financial stability stumble. Foreseeing her career as a teacher have no assurance to Gauri's future,  Anjali left the job and got into the university with help from the school itself. 

And now Janvi had asked Gauri's hand for Omkara,Anjali only have heard good things about Omkara but it was just from his mother. Anjali had seen Gauri work hard and would return home late and work till late nights as well. But marrying off Gauri to a wealthy and settled family was what she thought right at that moment. She feared if Gauri had to go through what she had gone through,Maheshwar left insecurities in her but she wasn't reading her daughter's heart this time,  she was just trying to have peace in her life. 

The following day Gauri had accepted the proposal but Omkara remained as stern as he was before, if something had changed then it was just him making her answerable of others mistake which provided Gauri with a bit peace.

In a few week , Gauri's and Omkara's family met and decided almost everything the way how Omkara wanted and Gauri sticked to whatever Omkara had decided,neither she was asked nor she had an opinion. 

Gauri wondered if her father was there everything would have been different,  not that she had any inclination towards her father,  she didn't hate him but neither loved. Gauri knew her father married some influential man's daughter just after the divorce and had children too but sometimes it pricked her that she never got father's love.
