Malibu sung by Miley Cyrus
"I've never been to Malibu." Sally stated as the couple drove onto the beach. The race car beside her shot her a mixed look of shock and confusion.
"What?" He questioned, curiosity present in his smirk. She rolled her light blue eyes and continued towards the blue sky. The sky was bluer here than at Radiator Springs.
"Well I've been here, just not to the beach." She clarified, receiving an understanding hum. He led her to a secluded spot on the shore, the perfect place for her to view the ocean.
They stared out at the waves crashing against the sand. The sun shined down on them, making Sally wish they had an umbrella or something to keep the heat off of her. Was it supposed to be this hot all summer? She slightly dug her tires into the sand, loving the feeling.
When Lightning told her they were going to the beach, she wasn't very excited. In fact, she was upset, but now that he brought her here, she was happy he did. Something about her mood just changed when she watched those waves.
A flock of birds gently squawked above them. Sally looked up, admiring their freedom. They could go anywhere in the world they wanted, and for once, she felt like them. She felt like she was high above the clouds, riding on their wind. "So, did ya miss me?" He asked, a smile present on his face.
"No. I didn't miss you." She lied, looking the opposite direction of him, knowing he liked attention. The idea of her completely forgetting about him would drive him crazy.
"Come on, I know you missed me." He grinned, driving in front of her. He flashed her his million dollar smile that drove every girl crazy. A small smile played on her lips as she tried to keep up her act, but it failed miserably.
"Alright, I missed you, Stickers," She giggled, charmed by him. He cocked his eyebrows and began to drive away. What was he doing? "Where are you going?" She questioned, chasing him down.
"Let's take a drive." He offered, flipping around and driving backwards. That was a trick he learn from his best friend, the one guy who trusted him three years ago. Mater was the only one who knew there was good in that red hotshot then.
"Okay, fine. Where are we going?" She asked, following close behind him. He winked at her and turned forward again.
"I don't know." He replied, making her roll her eyes. He was a fast learner. She drove beside him, trying to see if he still had that competitive drive, even though he raced less than 24 hours ago.
Of course, he took the bait. He jumped one foot in front of her, making sure she knew who was in the lead. She grinned and sped ahead, making the sand fly behind her. She could hardly even hear him chant his catch phrase.
She laughed as she kept the lead, even though she knew he was supposed to be in charge. Soon, her eyes landed on the ocean now two feet away from her tires. She slammed on the brakes, almost touching the water. "Slow down, Sally! What's the rush?" He chuckled as he pulled up beside her.
"Slow down? What? Am I too fast for you now?" She flirted, looking at him through the corner of her eyes. He rolled his blue eyes and bumped her into the water.
"Lightning!" She gasped as she felt the cold waves lap against all four of her tires. He plastered on his most innocent face, though she knew he was faking.
"What?"
"Ugh, you're so lucky you're cute." She scoffed, making him laugh as she drove out of the water. She drove next to him as they now slowly drove down the beach, catching up with each other's lives.
The sun was gently setting on the ocean. The pinks and purples collided together, almost making Sally cry. She hadn't seen a sunset like that since she was a lawyer. She looked down at the waves lapping beside Lightning. She noticed the little fish swimming around, and she wished they could join them.
If she could spend the rest of her life with Lightning on this beach, she would. He was one of the best things to happen to her, besides Radiator Springs. He made her feel happy. He made her feel complete.
She glanced at her true love, whose mouth was moving faster than him. He was talking about the currents to her, but she just smiled. She wasn't really listening to what he had to say. She just listened to his voice.
She never would have believed you if you would have told her three years ago that she would fall for the selfish, arrogant, hotshot Piston Cup racer. She despised him when she met him in that courtroom. He flirted with her, or at least what he called flirting.
As she looked at him now, she noticed how much he's changed. He didn't have a wall up, protecting himself. Just like everyone else, he was insecure and kind. He was polite and overall a gentleman. All it took was a little road paving, some tractor tipping, and a free car wash to get him to be his true self. "Look, I know I'm good looking, but you have to stop staring." He smirked.
And she never wanted her Lightning to change. She hoped that he would be the same forever. He was the man of her dreams. He understood what it was like to have everything, but never feel happy. He saved her when she felt like she was drowning, and everyday she felt like she had to thank him with all of her heart. "What? Can't a girlfriend look at her handsome boyfriend?" She smiled.
He laughed and shook his head. "That's why I love you, Sally." He chuckled. She felt herself blush as she stopped, looking up at him.
"I love you too." She grinned, nuzzling against him. They listened to the sounds of the waves pounding against the shore as they took in this precious moment. It was a dream come true in Malibu.
