Be My Baby sung by The Ronettes

The sun was setting behind the rust colored canyon mountains, leaving the sky in a dusky gray. The lights of the little town were just flickering on, their neon brightening up the newly paved road.

This was everyone's favorite time of the day. The gentle hum of the radio travelled throughout the town, signaling to everyone that it was finally time for some fun. Soon, car after car began to exit their shops and made their way to Flo's.

"Wonderful weather we're having." Sherif stated, joining the crowd already formed at the authentic gas station.

"Little muggy for me, but sure nicer now than it was earlier today." Mater replied before taking a sip from his regular.

"It's definitely hotter than usual. It's probably from global warming." Filmore declared as he entered with his tanks of organic fuel.

"Fricken hippie." Sarge mumbled, rolling his eyes.

"Where are Sally and Hotshot?" Flo asked, looking around.

"Who knows? Those two are always together." Luigi answered, shrugging his shoulders.

"What if they're hurt? We need to find them!" Mater exclaimed, worry immediately washing over his face.

"There's nothing to worry about Mater. I'm sure they're fine," Doc assured, his voice calming the distressed tow truck. "They'll be here soon."

As if on cue, they pulled into the gas station, all eyes on them. Sally let out a nervous chuckle and arched her eyebrow. "What's everyone looking at?"

Everyone immediately explained themselves, saying it was nothing and that they weren't worried. The couple lightly laughed and nodded their heads. Everyone had been acting strange around them recently.

"Can I turn on the music yet?" Lizzy shouted, gaining everyone's attention. Before anyone could process what was happening, Red reached over and turned up the volume, blasting some old tunes into the streets of Radiator Springs.

The night we met I knew I needed you so
And if I had the chance I'd never let you go
So won't you say you love me
I'll make you so proud of me
We'll make 'em turn their heads every place we go

A grin flashed across Lightning's face. "Shall we cruise?" He asked, his blue eyes meeting Sally's.

"I'd love to, Stickers." She smiled as he led her to the street. Everyone else followed suit, mostly wanting to watch the unofficial couple dance together, hoping they could catch a glimpse.

Everyone was smiling, swaying back and forth to beat, glancing at the couple every once and a while. They couldn't help themselves. It had been a long time since anyone joined the town, let alone courting another car. This was hot gossip.

So won't you, please, be my, be my baby
Be my little baby, my one and only baby
Say you'll be my darlin', be my, be my baby
Be my baby now, my one and only baby
Wha oh oh oh

"Everyone's watching us." Sally nervously chuckled, her eyes darting around at the town. She wasn't used to having all eyes on her. She liked being in the background, watching the town do their own things.

"Yeah, well. When's the last time someone moved to town and planned on staying forever?" Lightning replied, lightly laughing.

This stopped Sally in her tracks for a moment. "You plan on staying here forever?" She asked. She figured he would stay till he got his tires on the ground then take off for a bigger, brighter city. Radiator Springs wasn't exactly a town for a hotshot Piston Cup race car.

I'll make you happy, baby, just wait and see
For every kiss you give me I'll give you three
Oh, since the day I saw you
I have been waiting for you
You know I will adore you 'til eternity

"Of course. This place is exactly what I need," he replied. Suddenly, he felt self conscience about this choice. "That's alright with you, right?"

"Oh, of course. I just- I never expected you to actually want to stay here." Sally stumbled, a smile bright on her face.

"Yeah, well. Everyone here helped me realize a lot about myself. Plus you're here," he grinned. He felt her eyes widen and felt that he had to add more. "A-And there's no way I could leave Mater. He's my best friend after all." He stuttered.

"Oh yeah, you can't leave Mater." She sheepishly grinned. Sally wasn't exactly used to being wooed this way. Sure, she's been hit on and she's had plenty of boyfriends, but none of them have been anything like Lightning. His affection to her was sweet and innocent.

"Why don't we just dance before I embarrass myself more." He madly blushed as he plastered on a smile.

"Okay." Sally laughed as he twirled her around the town. Eventually, they stopped feeling everyone's eyes and could only see each other's. It was like they were completely alone.

So won't you, please, be my, be my baby
Be my little baby, my one and only baby
Say you'll be my darlin', be my, be my baby
Be my baby now, my one and only baby
Wha oh oh oh oh

"Ya know," Lightning began. "I really like you, Sally." He confessed.

"I like you, too, Stickers." She replied, a soft chuckle at the end. He let out a nervous smile then looked to the ground.

"I mean, I like you more than a friend, Sally." He clarified, looking at her face.

Oh.

Lightning could see this processing through her head. On the inside, he was freaking out. He just confessed his feelings to the one girl he totally adored. She was everything he needed. She completed him. She made him act in ways he never would, made him say things that he never dreamed would slip from his lips. He left like he came straight from a cheesy romance novel.

So come on and, please, be my, be my baby
Be my little baby, my one and only baby
Say you'll be my darlin', be my, be my baby
Be my baby now, my one and only baby
Wha oh oh oh

How was Sally responding to this? Well, she was freaking out, too. Of course, she was falling for the red race car. She adored everything about him, from his authentic smiles to his sweet comments. She would be lying if she said she hadn't thought about a life with him.

"Well, I think it's safe to say I've fallen for you, too, Lightning." She grinned, confidence suddenly taking over her body.

A smile grew on his face upon hearing her words. His blue eyes were brighter than usual and she felt like her engine was beating out of control. God, she really was in love. And she had fallen hard.

Be my, be my baby, be my little baby
My one and only baby, oh oh
Be my, be my baby, oh
My one and only baby, wha oh oh oh oh
Be my, be my baby, oh
My one and only baby, oh
Be my, be my baby, oh
Be my baby now

Sally looked gorgeous under the neon lights. Dancing with her wasn't enough. He needed more. "Sally," he spoke up, getting her attention.

"Yes, Stickers?"

"Would you mind if I kissed you?" He asked, biting on his lower lip in anxiety.

A smile grew on her face. "I wouldn't mind at all."

He leaned forward, gently pecking her lips. Immediately, everyone in the town cheered, well, besides Doc. A grin had grown on his face though.

The song had ended and everyone gradually traveled back to Flo's for a drink. Doc had pulled Lightning to the side, speaking in a low voice. "Looks I have to teach you how to make some moves, too. You're just as bad at flirting as you are at racing."
