You Ain't Here To Kiss Me sung by Brett Young

Eugene boarded the plane, bringing a bad vibe. He came home for that little blonde with green eyes. He was home for a week, seven whole days and he still hasn't seen her face. If she hadn't figured it out yet, there wasn't a need for him to hang around anymore. He changed his flight this morning, boarding the last plane leaving that night.

He took a lonely window seat, staring out at the view of bright lights. He couldn't place what he could've done wrong. The half empty plane was quiet as the pilot announced their take off. Eugene popped a piece of minty gum into his mouth, hoping to prevent his ears from popping.

After about a half hour, Eugene couldn't take it anymore. "Miss." He called as the flight attendant walked past him. She stopped her cart and pulled it back, ready to help him.

"Yes?" She politely smiled. Her blonde curls were lightly pulled back in a pony tail. Her sparkling white teeth mimicked her large diamond earrings. He looked at her name tag, wanting to maybe make small talk.

"Any more five dollar drinks, Miss Charlotte?" He softly smiled. Her blue eyes showed concern, obviously sensing he wasn't happy this New Years Eve. Her pink lips turned into a frown.

"Yes," She answered. She pulled out the alcohol from underneath the cart. She took out a red solo cup. She laid out the bottles out in front of him, letting him decided what he wanted. "Any preferences?" She asked. Eugene shook his head and watched her picked her poison.

"So, what's it like being a flight attendant?" Eugene smiled, trying to make small talk. After all, he had no one else to talk to and there was hardly anyone on that small plane anyways. They had nothing better to do.

"It's not all its hyped up to be." She answered. She shook her head and handed him his drink. He thanked her and held the cold drink in his hand. She walked away, rolling down the aisles, asking others if they wanted anything to eat or drink.

Eugene was about to slammed his head against the back of their seat. The people in front of his were driving him crazy. They were constantly giggling and scolded each other. After about the millionth, "stop it!" he sat up and leaned over their seat.

"Excuse me, but do you mind keeping it down?" Eugene harshly asked. They froze and looked at each other. They looked like twins. Platinum blonde hair and bright blue eyes. Of course, they were wearing matching blues too.

"I beg your pardon?" The woman exclaimed. She held her hand over her chest. She looked to her twin with her jaw aw low as the floor. The man looked back and forth between the two, not believing what just happened.

"Hey buddy, maybe you could tell your twin to keep it down?" Eugene spat. The man quickly turned around, ready to punch the guy right there, but he held himself back, knowing better.

"Look here, buddy, this is my wife. We were just married yesterday and we are not twins." He glared, poking Eugene in the chest. Eugene held his hands in surrender, his solo cup still in his right hand.

"Alright, alright. Let's just be cool. Let's start this thing over. I'm Eugene, and you are?" Eugene replied, holding out his hand, waiting for the man to answer. He looked at his wife then back at Eugene.

"Jack. And this is my wife, Elsa." He introduced. She gave a small wave, not really sure what was happening. This was not something she expected to happen on New Years Eve.

"Hello. Now would you please keep everything you're doing now for the bedroom?" Eugene quickly replied, changing the atmosphere back into an argument. Before Jack could fire  back at him, the pilot come on, silencing them.

"Attention passengers. The years is almost gone. Ready for the count down? 5..." He started as the crowd began to join in. "4...3...2...1...Happy New Year!" Everyone cheered. Jack grabbed Elsa and smashed his lips against hers.

"I guess it's just me and my whiskey then." Eugene muttered as he stared at his now empty drink. He slumped down in his chair, waiting for Charlotte to come back so he could ask for another drink. He needed something to get his mind off everything.

"Everyone, I'd like your attention please!" Jack called, gathering everyone's eyes. He wrapped his arm around Elsa, making her smile brightly. "I'd like to make a toast to the new year! May your 2017 be better than your 2016! Cheers!"

"Cheers!" Everyone replied, raising their glasses. Eugene frowned, thinking about Rapunzel wasn't here to kiss him. At least they had a chance to know how love felt. But love isn't always enough, and Eugene knew he had to recognize that. So he might as well start forgetting about her now.

Charlotte walked back, handing out glasses of champagne. When she got to Eugene, she began pouring him a glass full of straight whiskey. She added a few drops of something to dial it down. He couldn't hide the look of love gone wrong. "What's wrong, sugar?" She blurted out. "If you don't mind me asking, I mean." She quickly added.

He patted the seat beside him, wanting her to sit. Charlotte smoothed out her skirt, taking a seat beside him. Eugene scrunched up his face, deciding how to answer that question. What was wrong? Him and Rapunzel had been drifting apart for quite a while. He was across the country writing books and she was at home doing God knows what.

He looked at the blonde who was sitting on the edge of her seat, waiting to hear his response. He took a deep breath, then plastered his winning smile on his charming face. "Have you ever got your heart broken?" He questioned.

She scoffed and threw her head back. She rolled her pretty sea blue eyes. She softly smirked, raising an eyebrow. "Have I? Let's see, I'm the daughter of a millionaire, I'm good looking, and I like to think I have a good heart," Charlotte explained. She frowned and placed her cheek in her hand and rested her arm against the plastic arm rest. Her eyes stared forward. "But I don't think my prince is ever coming."

Silence followed afterwards. Eugene gave a soft smile, knowing a broken heart when he saw one. They were in the same boat. "You'll find him. And he won't love you for you money or looks. He'll love you for your personality. It'll just take a little time." He comforted.

Immediately, Charlotte jumped up and wrapped her arms around his neck, startling him. "Thank you. That's the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me." She sniffed. They spent the rest of the flight, talking about their heart breaks and stupid crushes. Before they know it, the sun began rising over the horizon as the plane began to land.
