You Should Be Here sung by Cole Swindell
Jack took a deep breath and let a soft smile rest on his face. The weather was perfect, almost as if God let him design the weather. The setting sun was painting pinks and oranges on the sky behind the sparkling lake on the July night. Everyone was gathered together. Jack hadn't seen some of them in forever.
Rapunzel has been traveling the world, painting everything she's seen, living her dream. Eugene has been of course dragged along on her trips, writing about everything they've seen and done. Hiccup was a professional dog trainer and breeder in town, making millions. Merida was an archery coach for the little tikes. Anna was a kindergarten teacher, spreading all of her love and happiness in the small country kids. Kristoff was a lawyer off in the city, making sure everyone was treated fairly. Jack, well he was taking over the family farm.
"Jack!" A small voice cried as they enveloped him in a hug. They warmly wrapped around his neck, bringing a smile to his face. When they released, he was brought to bright green eyes. Her blonde hair was falling over her tan skin. "I haven't seen you in years!" She cheered.
"Hey, Rap." Jack chuckled as he ruffled his brown hair. They were as close as friends could get. She knew everything about him and he knew everything about her. Her pink lips were showing off her sparking white teeth.
"Jack! Long time no see!" Eugene greeted as he slapped Jack on his back. Jack laughed and brought him into a hug. They hadn't seen each other since high school. Once Rapunzel's career took off, so did they. Jack let go and smiled at his handsomely tan friend and his gorgeous wife.
"Well, help yourself to a drink." Jack softly laughed as he tossed them a drink. They thanked him and cracked it open. Rapunzel's fizzed over and she giggled, shaking it off. This was definitely a never forget moment. He took a long look at his friends gathered around. They were laughing and joking with each other. It was a prefect scene.
"So, how are you doing since...you know." Eugene trailed as he looked at Jack. Jack softly smiled and ruffled his hair. His brown eyes were slowly filling with tears. Eugene knew that they would never spill in front of the gang.
"I'm getting along." Jack croaked. He immediately brought his lips to the beer, letting it stream down his parched throat. She was still a tough subject. She was everything in his life and then suddenly, she was gone.
"I'm sorry." Eugene frowned. He didn't mean to bring a bad vibe into the party, but he had to know how Jack was. Elsa was in a car crash six months ago. Her car spun out on the ice and crashed into oncoming traffic. She died instantly. Unfortunately, Eugene and Rapunzel couldn't make it to the funeral. It upset Rap, since her best friend was in terrible grief, but there was nothing they could do.
"She should be here." Jack mumbled and he spin his drink around, mixing it around. Right about now, she would have her pale arm wrapped around his waist and he would have his around her shoulder. They would be cracking jokes with their pals, drinking a cold beer. She would be saying cheers, describing how prefect this year has been.
"I know." Eugene replied. He licked his lips, unsure how to respond. He wasn't good with mourning and comforting. He just knew it wasn't good for Jack to hold it all in.
"She was only 25, ya know." Jack sniffed. He wiped a tear away from his brown eye. He couldn't cry now, today was a perfect memory. Everyone was finally together after years apart from each other.
Jack could just see Elsa bringing everyone together, taking millions of pictures. She would whine and complain that there was a glare was on her face or that she blinked. She'd go home to Arendelle and show them off to everyone she knew, even random strangers she'd just met. She was like a crazy mom.
"She's in a better place, Jack." Eugene comforted. Jack smiled and nodded his head. He knew she was up in heaven with her momma looking down on him. Jack just wished he could see her gorgeous face one more time. Her sparkling blue eyes that made the sky jealous. Her long platinum hair blowing in the wind. She was like a angel sent to Earth.
"I know," Jack replied. She would be loving this moment. She would be freaking out, asking Rapunzel and Eugene all about their trip. Elsa would be begging Anna to let her help teach the kids about winter. She'd be Anna's maid of honor at her wedding later this month. "If I had just one wish, it would be that she wouldn't have to miss this."
"She would've loved this." Eugene softly smiled as he nodded his head. Eugene knew that Jack deeply loved Elsa, even if they weren't married yet. They were soul mates, star crossed lovers. Jack was her Romeo and she was his Juliet.
"Boys, we're taking a picture!" Rapunzel called as she waved them towards the group, snapping them back into reality. Rapunzel wrapped her arm around her husband and held her other arm out, trying to take a selfie of the group. "Say cheese!"
"Cheese!" They smiled as she snapped a few pictures. Everyone blinked as the flash blinded their eyes.
"Oww! Did you really need the flash?" Merida complained as she rapidly blinked her blue eyes. Everyone joined in, whining about how they were seeing stars.
"Of course! Otherwise the photos wouldn't have turned out as well." Rapunzel smiled as she snatched her beer.
"Hey, who's ready for a pontoon ride?" Kristoff offered as he pointed to his brand new boat parked against the sandy shore. Everyone tore off to the water, calling seats and drinks. Jack chuckled and ran to the group, wishing Elsa wouldn't have left so soon. She should be here.
