Break Up In A Small Town sung by Sam Hunt

Jack knew he'd see her around after they broke up. It was inevitable, being as they were from a small town. He usually saw the blonde when they were at parties. He would just be leaving when she was entering. She was always with her friends, looking like she was enjoying herself. Elsa was always with her friends.

Sometimes Jack would see her across the parking lot. She would usually try hiding behind her sister, but that never worked. Elsa was taller than Anna by at least a head and Anna was usually too confused to understand what Elsa was doing.

Jack would be texting on his phone at the red light and when he'd look up and he'd see her beside him in her white Maxima. Her long braid would still be draped over her pale, slender shoulder. He could hear that she was on the same station as him. She was so beautiful, but Jack would pretend not to see her. As she drove away, he'd stare at her sticker on the back.

They were paying at the same pumps, trying not to make eye contact. They would slow down at the same curves, hell, they even run around with the same crowd! It was like they couldn't get away from each other. Everywhere he went, she was always there.

Jack just figured they needed time. Eventually she would get on with her life and he would get on with his. Soon, no one would ever remember them even dating. Jack thought he would be fine. After all, he was the one that ended their relationship. But he wasn't. He knew she would get over him, but not like that.

As he was entering the bar with his buddies, that when he spotted them. The stunning blonde was sitting there with Eugene's arm wrapped around her shoulder. They were so close together, making Jack's heartache. He never thought she would get down with somebody he knew.

"Jack, are you okay?" Taylor asked, concern lacing every word. She had brought Jack out for a drink since he was becoming a little distant lately. Taylor just wanted to stay updated in his life and make sure he was doing okay.

Jack shook his head, trying to clear his current thoughts. He just couldn't believe what he was staring at, what he was witnessing. Why was she with him? Why was she with one of his friends? "Huh? Yeah, yea. I'm fine." He answered.

Taylor stared at him, knowing he wasn't. He looked like someone told him his dog died. She figured it would be easier to get it out of him if he had a couple of drinks. He always felt better after he had a few shots of whiskey. "Okay. Let's go find somewhere to sit." She smiled, leading him far away from Elsa. She couldn't let him see her with someone new.

They sat at a table, waiting for the rest of the gang. First to show up was Eric, Taylor's boyfriend. He was always grumpy with Jack, but they were good friends. After a couple of minutes, Nick and Seth showed up. "Hey Jack!" Nick happily greeted, not knowing that Elsa was in the same building.

"Hey." Jack replied, trying to fake his happiness. He was glad that they were caring for him, but they literally just smashed his heart. He didn't know Elsa was dating Eugene until they dragged him to one of their dates.

"Let's have a drink! Let the weekend begin!" Eric cheered, rubbing his hands together. His Australian accent made Jack softly laugh as Taylor elbowed his side, telling him to be quiet. Nick and Seth would argue with Taylor, telling her to leave him alone. It was just like old times. Everyone having fun...but Jack was missing Elsa.

For a while, Elsa and Eugene had kept their relationship low-key. But by now, everyone had figured out. Jack almost felt like the county lines were closing in on him. Everywhere he went, he always saw them. They were always together.

Every time Jack saw them, it struck a chord in his heart. Elsa was so far gone. She slipped out of his fingertips, but she didn't go far away. She just went to the guy across town. She was moving on so fast. She was over him before the grass grew back where she used to park her car. Now she was leaving those marks in Eugene's yard.

Her mailbox is only seven minutes away from his. She's sitting at her house with somebody else's arms wrapped around her right down the road. Somebody else would be leaving kisses on her soft skin, driving her crazy. Somebody else was calling her baby, calling her his.

Jack drove into town, passing by that light blue mailbox. As he was driving by a parking lot, he spotted them sitting together in his truck. He would watch Eugene lean in close, whispering in her ears. She would giggle and push him away.

Jack wanted to jump out of his car. He wanted to fight Eugene for Elsa, for his girl. He wanted to scream at him. He wanted to say, "Fuck that guy!" But he couldn't. It's his fault. He let her go. He broke up with her. If he only he had known how much he needed her earlier.

It's like he can't even leave his house. He didn't want to see them anymore. They were causing him pain, endless heartbreak. But there's only so many streets, so many lights. His friends would try to distract him, trying not to let him see them, but it was inevitable. He just couldn't stop seeing them.

But that's just how it goes. He should have know that she would get down with somebody he knew. He should have known all along that it would happen. You've got to move or move on when you break up in a small town.
