Woke Up In Nashville sung by Seth Ennis
(Part 2 to Ask Me How I Know)

He woke up in a cold sweat, panting, just trying to catch his breath. He ran his fingers through his hair as he gulped, trying to calm himself down. He hopped out of bed, running to the bathroom to splash some cold water in his face.

He just continued splashing and splashing, but he still felt like he was sweating. Soon, it felt like he was drowning. He stopped, resting his hands on the cool counter. He hung his head over the sink, listening to the water drip from his thick, dark locks into the sink.

Drip. Drop. Drip. Drop.

It continued nonstop as thoughts of the past few days scrambled around in his head. That old man at the bar didn't know anything about Eugene's life. Eugene had left her for a valid reason, which was the reason why he left the town.

About two days ago, Eugene had packed up his hand-me-down car. He was broke, but didn't really care. He had left for Nashville, hoping he could maybe make a career out of playing his guitar. Ever since his fingers touched his dad's six string, he had fallen in love with it.

He walked away from the sink, beginning to pace around the room. Everything he looked at reminded him of the girl he left behind. He looked into the mirror and saw he green eyes. Soon, every girl he saw in the streets looked like her. Honestly, he thought he was going insane.

Ever since he broke with her, his life had been different, and not a good different. He felt like he was missing something, like he was walking around with half of a heart. He felt like his life was in shambles.

Maybe this was all a dream. Some sick and twisted nightmare. He constantly thought he was just sleep walking aimlessly around Tennessee. He had no purpose and didn't have the motivation to play. Maybe it was the change of scenery or maybe it was the fact that Rapunzel was gone.

He should have told her he was leaving, but he didn't. He didn't want to be dragged back into her grasp. He wasn't one to settle down and have children. He wanted to be a bachelor, but ever since her, it wasn't really an option.

He always thought of her before himself, which he had never done before. He was self centered, and he knew that, but when he was with her, it was like he was a totally new person. To be honest, he hardly recognized himself when he was with her.

When he was with her, he actually felt like he was Eugene Fitzherbert. When he was with her, Flynn Rider was some pretend character, some who didn't even match his personality. Flynn Rider was just an alter ego.

He looked at the other side of the bed. It looked cold and empty. He wished the blonde was on there peacefully sleeping. Maybe she would comfort him and help him sleep. All he had to do was hear her voice.

Without hesitation, he quickly dialed her number. He was dropping his pride. He had to tell her how he felt. He had to tell her that he finally woke up and realized how much he needed her.

He didn't care that it was 3:47 am. As he listened to the phone ring and ring, his conscience was telling him this was a bad idea. He didn't know who she was with. He didn't even know where she was. He didn't even know what to say when, if, she answered the phone.

What if she found someone else and left him? What if she was sleeping? Maybe he should just end the call and call her again in the morning when he finally figured out what to say to her. "Hello?"

"Hello," he panted, a smile on his face. "I'm really glad you picked up your phone." He greeted. Immediately, he could hear the music pounding in the background. He could tell she was at a party.

"Eugene?" She questioned. She could hardly hear his voice. "Hold on, I'll move somehow more quiet." She shouted into the phone, moving through the crowd to find a safe place outside.

Eventually, she could actually hear his breathing on the other side. "What do you want?" She asked, her voice now soft. She didn't want to fight with him.

"Rapunzel, I just have to tell that I'm sorry. I'm sorry that I thought that you were something I could live without. I was so, so wrong." He replied, trying to hold back his tears.

He knew she probably wouldn't forgive him. After all, he treated her like a douche. He acted like she was nothing in his life and was just s terrible boyfriend the last couple of days they were together. "I thought everything I needed was here in Nashville, but it wasn't. You were all that I needed along. I'm sorry that it too me so long to realize-"

"Eugene, baby," she started, holding the phone closer to her face. She closed her eyes, trying to think of the right words. "I don't even know where you are. After I left the bar, I just-"

"I've been thinking about you nonstop. All of these bright lights remind me of Broadway," he began, hoping maybe he could bring her back. "But Broadway looks so dim compared to your green eyes. I just close my eyes and I see yours staring back into mine."

She let out a sigh. She loved him, but she didn't know if she really changed. She didn't want to go through another heartbreak. "Baby, I woke up in Nashville just thinking of you still. Please, take me back." He quietly pleaded.

She nodded her head, tears forming in her eyes. "Okay. I accept your apology, Eugene Fitzherbert." She smiled, holding the phone in both hands. Chills were sent up both of their arms. Just hearing his real name slip from her lips made him smile.
