That's What Makes You Mine sung by Heffron Drive

"I hated that movie." Merida scoffed as they exited the movie theater. Hiccup quickly jogged to catch up to her.

"Hated it? It's been voted one of the best movies this summer!" He exclaimed, staring at her in awe. Merida was a different kind of girl. Well, besides being different from any girl he would fall for, she definitely wasn't a girl broadcasted on movies or tv shows.

Merida shrugged her shoulders and continued walking. "I hate it when the story turns out right." She explained. Hiccup's jaw dropped as he paused in the middle of the sidewalk. He shook his head then ran to catch up to her.

"Are you even human? Who doesn't love a happy ending?" He asked, his green eyes wide in shock.

Merida gave a small smirk. "Me," she answered. "There's a reason I only go to indie movies."

Hiccup gave a chuckle and shook his brown locks. "You sure are weird," he stated. "You don't like cheesy love songs and hate happy endings."

"You forgot to add that my wedding dress won't be white." Merida nodded, pointing a finger at the sky. Her blue eyes glanced at him as a smile grew on her lip.

"And you won't have a white wedding dress." Hiccup repeated, counting on his fingers, making Merida laugh.

He glanced over at her and he dug his hands into his pockets. He smiled a cheeky boy-next-door kind of smile. "What other strange things do you hate?" He asked.

"Oh, you'll see." Merida laughed, tossing her dark, red curls over her shoulders. Hiccup was in for a wild ride.

Merida wasn't a typical kind of beauty. She didn't have long blonde hair and a cute laugh. She didn't dress up in sweet, pink skirts and preppy dresses. If anything, she was the opposite.

She had fiery red curls and her laugh remind him of a chortle, basically a chuckle with snorts. She had horrible table manners. She would talk with her mouth full and she always had her elbows on the table. To add on, she dressed down in spite of her mother.

But, to Hiccup's surprise, these personality differences made him fall for her more. She was beautiful in a different kind of way. Her red hair made her blue eyes shine brighter. Her laughs made him laugh along. And he wasn't afraid to be messy around her.

"What are ya staring at? We're trying to eat in peace, man!" Merida shouted at a random stranger walking past. Hiccup's cheeks turned a light pink as he stuttered to give him an apology.

"You're a spaz, lady!" The stranger shouted back, glaring at the couple.

"Yeah, f-off!" Merida shouted back. Without hesitating, she rose her hand and gave him a finger in the air. Hiccup's jaw dropped as he listened to the stranger mumble curses at them as he rushed off.

Merida smirked, lowering her hand. She tossed her legs onto the table, reclining into her seat, the chair legs off the ground. Everyone in the outdoor restaurant had their eyes on the rebellious redhead. "What's everyone starin' at?" She asked, raising her eyebrow at them.

Quickly, everyone went back to their meals. Merida shrugged her shoulders, crossing her arms over her chest.

"Merida, you can't just make a scene whenever you want to." Hiccup harshly whispered, embarrassed from what just happened.

"Sure I can," she replied. "I don't care what people say about me and neither should you." She declared, pointing at Hiccup.

"Well, I don't really want to be known as the guy win the crazy lady!" He quietly exclaimed.

"Oh, Hiccup. It's fine. Nobody got hurt," Merida waved off, smiling at him. "Just lighten up a bit. Relax."

They laid in the grass, Merida's head on Hiccup's shoulder. The stars were brightly shining above them. The meteor shower was about to begin any moment. "This is a nice change of scenery, Hic." She spoke up, her voice clear in the midnight air.

"I thought you might like it," he answered. "You do like nature."

They were silent for awhile. Hiccup was admiring Merida. The way her eyebrows furrowed when she was deep in thought and the way her fingers would fold and unfold.

"Ya, know," Merida declared. "You're not the type I fall for."

Hiccup furrowed his eyebrows, confused. Merida sat up, turning to face him. "I fall for the bad boys, the ones who break the rules. I like boys who aren't afraid to take a risk and don't care about anyone's feelings," she spoke. "Yet, here I am. Falling for the quiet, awkward, and sweetest boy on earth."

Hiccup was stunned, unsure what to say. "Do you want me to change? 'Cause, I like you a lot, Merida." He stuttered.

Merida rolled her eyes. "No, I don't want to change. It just doesn't make sense to me."

Hiccup sat up, thinking this through. "Same. We just don't make sense," he repeated. "We don't work on paper. Me being the good guy and you being the bad girl. Honestly, we aren't right for each looking at like this."

Merida nodded her head in agreement.

"It all seems so improbable," he continued. "We're literally the definition of impossible and I never would have thought that you would be the one for me."

"So what are you saying?" Merida asked.

"I'm saying that I'm never gonna let you go," he declared, his green eyes looking to her blue ones. "All of these reasons are what make you mine."

"That's what makes you mine." Merida softly repeating, liking the statement. Without thinking, she grabbed his collar and smashed her lips to his.

Above them, the meteor shower had just begun, filling the sky with gorgeous streaks of light.
