Her hand was tightly gripping his as she dragged him through the forest. Milo pushed the branches aside, trying not to let any of them hit him in the face. "Kida, slow down!" He shouted, but her legs remained their same speed.

"No! I have to show you this!" She laughed as she hopped over a fallen log. Milo groaned and shook his light brown hair. Ever since he met her, she's made it her goal to show him all of her country.

"Let me guess, you're going to show me yet another tourist trap?" He asked, playfulness present in his voice. She turned around and giggled, her blue eyes lighting up as she shook her head.

"Not another tourist trap! This will blow your mind. This is my secret hiding spot," She grinned as she placed her other hand over her chest. Milo smiled and rolled his brown eyes. "Watch out!" She warned as a branch smacked against his face, sending his glasses flying.

He fell to ground, groaning as he rubbed his head. Well that felt just fantastic. "You okay?" She quickly questioned.

"Ya, ya I'm..." He trailed as he opened his eyes, seeing her face so close to his. They were inches apart, their eyes traveling all over each other's face. "...okay." He finished as he felt his cheeks heating up.

She giggled. "Good!" She cheered, holding out her hand. He gladly took it. Effortlessly, she pulled him back up to his feet. "Wait, where are your lunettes?" She asked, looking around.

"My-my what?" He questioned, squinting his eyes to look at her. She look at him and smiled.

"You know, your..." She trailed as she used her finger to put circles around her eyes.

"Ohh. You mean my glasses." He clarified, realizing what she meant. She giggled and nodded her head.

"If that's what you Americans call lunettes, then yes," Kida replied as she looked around the forest floor. Milo was trying to help, but it was pointless. He couldn't see his own hand without squinting. "Here they are!" She cheered as she stood back up, holding them.

She placed them on her head, her eyes looking magnified. "You have terrible sight!" She laughed as she held her hands far out in front of her, trying to walk to Milo without falling.

She bumped into him, making him chuckle. He snatched them off her face, making her pout. "Thanks for that compliment," He sarcastically stated as she leaded against him. He wiped them on his shirt, since they were covered in dirt. "Now what did you want to show me?" He asked.

"I almost forgot!" She gasped. Quickly, grabbed his wrist and began pulling him again. Soon, she bought him to an open field. She let go and tiptoed in front of him and turned around. "Tada!" She whispered.

"This is just a field. We have these everywhere in America." He replied, his face scrunched in confusion. She shook her head and tsked her tongue, shaking her finger.

"This is not just any field, Mr. Thatch. This is where magic happens." She smiled, waving her hands in front of her face. Milo let out a little sigh and rolled his eyes.

"Magic?" He asked. She hummed in reply as she turned around. "I don't believe you." He stated as he crossed his arms in front of his chest.

"No?" She questioned, curiosity present in her voice. She kneeled down in the grass, reaching out to touch something.

"Nope. I've traveled all over the world. Magic isn't real." He explained, walking towards her. She looked at him out of the corner of her eyes, a smirk present on her face.

"Then how do you explain this?" She questioned as she turned around. Blue lines were wiped under her left cheek. Milo's jaw dropped as he stared at her. "Or how about this, Mr. Thatch?" She added, holding up her necklace.

He shut his mouth, unsure what he would say. "That's just a crystal, nothing special. They're everywhere." He quickly fired back. She grinned and stuck the crystal in the pond in front of her.

He furrowed his thick eyebrows, confused about what she was doing. Gently, she pulled it out, this time, the crystal was glowing a bright blue. Milo's eyes widen as he stared in shock. "Jiminy Christmas!" He awed.

Quickly, he snatched it from her hands, turing it around, admiring it in curiosity. She crossed her arms across her chest, pride present on her face. "See! Magic!"

"No, no, no. There has to be some logical explanation." He reasoned softly, not taking his eyes off of her necklace. This was truly amazing. She grabbed his chin and pulled it up to the sky.

"Look those stars!" She awed, her eyes big and bright. But Milo didn't look at the stars. He looked at the girl beside him. His heart began to beat faster. She was so beautiful.

She felt his eyes on her. She turned her head to look at him. Suddenly, fireflies began to light up around them. The blue mud from the pond began to glow. Colors and promises were all around them.

He didn't know what to do. He wanted to be brave enough to tell her what he was feeling, but that wasn't his specialty. But as he watched her sitting there, all of his doubt began to float away.

One step closer.

"Kida, I lo-love you." He stuttered. That hit her like a ton of bricks. How could she love when she's so afraid to fall? Milo would be leaving for America in two months.

Every breath he took, every hour he spent with her led to this moment. He had spent the past two years living here with her. Finally, he had the courage to tell her how he felt.

Time stood still as they stared into each other eyes. "But about when you go home, back to America? Will you still love me?" She whispered, tearing beginning to brim her eyes.

He gently touched her cheek. "Darling, don't be afraid. I will not let anything take away what's standing in front of me. I have died everyday waiting for you. I have loved you for a thousand years."

"Along I believed I would find you. Time has fought your heart to me," She whispered, gently touching his face. "I'll love you for a thousand more."

One step closer.

They leaned in, sharing their most passionate kiss. The wind circled around them, blowing though Kida's light blonde hair. The fireflies chased each other around the couple as the leaves rustled a song.
