Different For Girls sung by Dierks Bentley
Anna sobbed on her couch, talking about her recent break up to her best friend. "I just don't understand what I did wrong." She cried, pulling her knees to her chest. She had been feeling awful all day.
He gently rested his arm over her shoulder, gently rubbing it. She needed someone to talk to. Elsa was away on a business trip so Kristoff was her only option, even though he would have been her first choice anyways. "You didn't do anything wrong, Anna." He comforted.
"Then why did Hans leave me? He told me that what we had was true love. He told me we were soul mates!" She exclaimed, squeezing her blue eyes shut. She didn't want to waste all these tears on him, but her heart was broken.
"Hans is a jackass, and he's always been one. If you ask me, I think it's best this way."
"Then why does my heart ache? Then why do I miss him so much? Kristoff, I loved him," she softly whispered, looking down at her feet. She gently rocked, thinking about all of her memories. "What did you do when you broke up with Elizabeth?" She asked.
"I'm not sure I'm really the best person to ask. Maybe ask your sister. She seems-"
"Kristoff, you're my best friend. Elsa is great and all, but she isn't one for break ups and stuff," Anna replied. "Seriously, what did you do? How did you get over the heartache?"
Kristoff softly frowned, gently rubbing his hand over her shoulder as he thought about it. Anna looked up at him, ready for his advice. "I don't know, I don't remember most of it." He mumbled.
"Please." She softly begged, looking into his gentle eyes. He let out a little sigh, looking to the side.
"I slept all day and let my house become a wreck. I just let myself go. I hardly ate," he began. Anna cuddled onto his chest, wiping her nose with the back of her sleeve. "I called her a million times just so I could curse at her. And you know that hole in the wall in he kitchen?"
"Yeah?"
"Well, let's just say that I was a just a little upset. I remember her telling me that 'It wasn't me. It was all her.' I might have punch the wall." He softly chuckled. She giggled with him and snuggled her head under his chin. He wrapped his arm around her, cuddling with her under a blanket.
"Is that all?" She asked, shutting her eyes. For some reason, she just felt better in his arms. She wanted to stay like this forever. Kristoff was always there for her in her times of need. She took a deep breath, smelling pine on his baggy gray sweatshirt. A soft smile rested on her face.
"Well, that's not all." he answered honestly, staring off into the distance. He didn't really want to tell her the rest. Anna might be his best friend, but he didn't want her to think of him like that.
"Then what's the rest, Kris?"
"Um, uh, I'm not sure you really want to hear it." He stuttered. He felt his cheeks heat up in embarrassment. He didn't want her to know. This was only for him and the guys. They were the only ones who could really understand.
"I want to know," she declared, looking back up at him. He blushed, trying not to make eye contact with her. She cocked her head, confessed by this. Kristoff tells her everything. "Kristoff, I won't think any different about you. We're best friends." She smiled.
He let out a sigh, gently blowing his blonde strands into the air. "I threw on a random t-shirt, not caring how I looked. As I left the house, I texted the guys, telling them that I never loved her anyways. I told them that I had to get laid. That was the only way I could get her off my mind." He confessed. He quickly blinked his eyes, trying to push back the tears. He felt so guilty about it.
"I scrolled through my phone, looking for a Band-Aid. I had to get laid," he explained. Anna gently nodded her head, not wanting to say a thing. "I tried to tape my heart back together with some whiskey and Coke. Eventually, all of us got drunk." He gulped.
"I switched off my pain, getting a girl to hook up me. I took her home that night and acted like it was nothing. Even having sex with her didn't help." He croaked. He felt terrible. He never told the guys this. He felt like he wasn't a man for hating sex. He couldn't tell anyone this but Anna.
"Kristoff." Anna softly spoke, gently rubbing his cheek. Why didn't she help him though this? Was she really that blind?
"I tried to fast forward through the pain," he continued. "I pushed back the tears when they came up. When the going got tough, I acted tough."
Anna frowned and looked at the floor. She didn't know what to say. He kept everything inside him. Why? Why didn't he tell her this before? "But it's different for girls when their hearts get broke. They can't tape it back together with a whiskey and Coke. They don't take someone home and act like it's nothing."
Anna softly sniffed and closed her eyes. She suddenly felt the need to cry again. "When the love disappears, girls can't pretend it was never there," he added. "Nobody said it was fair, but that the way it is."
Anna nodded her head, beginning to cry. "It's so different for girls." She sobbed. Kristoff pulled her close, leaning her head against his chest. She listened to his heartbeat as she filled the room with her sobs.
Slowly, both of their eyes fluttered shut. Their chests began to slowly rise and fall together. They snuggled close to each other, falling asleep in each other arms.
