I Drive Your Truck sung by Lee Brice

Anna worked up her courage as she walked to the white pickup. It was covered in dirt, leaving marks from where her small hands opened the door. She hopped into the driver's side, making dust fly from the seats. She coughed as she swiped the air away from her face. She peeked inside the ashtray, spotting exactly 89 cents. His old Skoal can was still in the cup holder. She picked it up, reading the smokeless tobacco's cover. He swore it was a thousand times better than Copenhagen.

She started the truck, making it roar. She moved the rear view mirror down so she could see, making the dog tags jiggle. She picked one up and read her husband's name. She sniffed and let go, trying not to bring back that awful moment. She glanced around, making sure everything was the exact same way he left it. His dirty Braves cap was still on the dash.

She looked in the back, spotting his Go Army shirt which was still neatly folded. She softly smiled, remembering the times she scolded him for not picking up after himself. Today was a day she was thankful he was stubborn and ignored her. His mud covered cowboy boots were still on the floor on their sides.

She pulled out of the driveway, headed on her way to town. His half empty bottle of blue Gatorade was rolling around on the floorboard. She sniffed and drove down a gravel road, taking the long way. She wasn't in a hurry today. She could hear a soft guitar playing, bringing her back to reality. She smiled and cranked up the song. She left it on the same old country station he left it on.

She took a deep breath and rolled down all the windows and drove slower. She smelled the fresh summer air, remembering him. A tear fell down her face thinking about his sandy blonde hair. His comforting eyes and gentle hugs. If he saw he right now, he would punch her shoulder, telling her that he wasn't worth her sadness. She was trying so hard to be tough for him, but in days like this, she just had to let herself go. Suddenly, her cellphone rang through her memory. "Hello?" Anna croaked as she wiped away her tears.

"Anna, baby, how are you doing?" Elsa asked, concern lacing every word. His death was tough on everyone, even on his annoying sister-in-law. They had a love hate relationship, Elsa trying to tell him what was right and wrong while he would tease her.

"As best as I can." Anna smiled as she turned onto another gravel road. Right about now, he would be trying to take the phone from her, trying to tell Elsa that he's ready to leave her another prank.

"Have you been by his grave?" Elsa softly questioned. Anna knew that Elsa didn't want to upset her, so Anna tried to let her down gently.

"You know that I can't feel him at that depressing site." Anna replied as she traced his steering wheel gently with her fingertips. She could only feel him in this truck. This was his happy spot. This was where he was himself.

"I won't push you, but I feel like you should still visit him today." Elsa persuaded. Anna bit her lower lip. She didn't want to admit that that cemetery scared her. That haunting place brought back nightmares that she still couldn't forget.

"I'll go if you come." Anna compromised.

"Okay! I'll meet you there in ten minutes." Elsa agreed, ending their phone call. Anna sighed and tossed the phone on the passenger seat, making a few dust clouds. She didn't want to go, but she knew she had to eventually.

She pulled into the cemetery, parking beside Elsa's car. She trudged her feet through the grass, nervousness building up inside her. Elsa smiled and brought her baby sister into a hug. "I can't believe you're still driving his truck. You know that thing burns up gas like crazy." Elsa teased, trying to bring a smile to her face.

"You have your ways of coping and I have mine." Anna softly smiled. Elsa led her towards the clean stone. Neatly placed beside it was small American flag. It gently whipped back and forth from the gentle breeze. A few flower pots where placed beside it too. They stared in silence at the headstone, reading the words over and over again.

"I'll give you two some time." Elsa croaked as she walked back towards her baby blue car, her hand placed over her mouth. Anna watched her check her makeup and silently cry. Elsa wasn't one to share her feelings, but that was okay.

Anna kneeled beside his grave. She gently creased each word, hoping that would bring him back. Kristoff Bjorgman. A loving husband and wonderful big brother. Died in battle on July 12, 2015. Honorary soldier who sacrificed himself for his fellow soldiers. We may never find a soul as loyal as his. May God rest his soul.

Anna sniffed and hugged his headstone. One year ago, he left her behind to go somewhere better. She gently kissed it and stood back up. She smiled and walked back to his truck. She hopped back inside and broke down crying. This was where she could feel him. "Why did you have to leave me?" She exasperated as she smashed her head against the steering wheel, letting the tears flow down her face. She balled up her fist and pounded it against the dash. "Why did you have to take him? Why couldn't you take me instead? He was something to everyone. He was kinder than I could ever be. He gave everyone a second chance. He was Mr. Perfect. Why him?" She desperately cried out.

A gentle breeze flew through the truck, sending shivers up her spine. It smelled like pine, his favorite scent. His favorite song began playing on the station. He was there with her, comforting her. She softly smiled and wiped her nose. "I hope you don't mind if I drive your truck." She softly laughed. She kissed his truck, hoping he knew that she still loved him and that she always would.

This song was originally written for a brother who was lost in battle, but when I first heard this song, it told me to write it as a Kristanna ship. I tried to change it to the way it was written, but I couldn't help myself.
