Writing Tag: The Bri Edition
I forgot about the extra original fiction questions that wordlass created for the writing tag, which I meant to do but forgot about until now. Whoops?
1) Name some of your favorite original characters and why
Okay I'm just going to name three of my favorite characters from the three main stories I have in my head. That way this chapter won't go on for hours XD
Aliyah Harlow (Aureate Allegiance*)
Aliyah's gone under as many changes as this story has. As the plot changed, she's transformed from a minor character to supporting character to the main character, and I'm just so proud about how far she's come since her initial creation. She's innovative, stubborn, clever, selfishly selfless, and overall just a very interesting character to write for. In the beginning of her story, Aliyah is so set in her morals and ideals, but as time goes on and she discovers more and more about her missing brother and herself, her line in the sand continues to get washed away. Where she redraws it every time is different from where it was before, and it's cool to discover with her how she will grow as a person and how her viewpoints will change.
Ranna (Pilgrim Trio)
Ranna, along with a majority of the cast of the Pilgrim Trio & Co, is based off of an extremely vivid character in the most amazing dream I've ever had. In my dream, Ranna appeared to help solve the mystery of the masked mass magic murderer, with the help of Cora and Lanon, of course. She's a goofy, very girly girl with a serious self-assigned task of traveling the world to help others, no matter what the cost. She can get a bit side-tracked at times or get blinded by her goals to take heed of everything else going on around her, but she's very loyal and determined to make the best out of every situation.
Princess Evelyn of the Melchior Clan (Rivetris)
Ah, Evelyn, my evil Disney Princess. She's easily one of my favorite villains to write for, and not just because of all of the pretty outfits she wears. Loyal to one person only, she manipulates everyone around her to get her way. She knows a lot more than she'll ever admit, even to her brother, the heir to the throne who is slowly but surely losing his mind. Evelyn's educated on the twisted past that led her family to their present position, and she'll do anything to keep them in power, even if she's only the second child without a chance at the throne. She's strangely satisfied with her place in the world, despite her present potential to become even more powerful than her brother. But alas, Evelyn prefers to stay behind the puppet stage and out of the way of a booing audience. It's more convenient that way.
2) Do you have any favorite genres that you'd like to write books for?
Fantasy and mystery, for sure. Bonus points if it's a fantasy-mystery :)
3) Do you have a favorite world/universe you like writing your stories in?
Hmm... Either the Rivetris universe or the Pilgrim Trio world (which I still need a think of a name for).
4) Out of all of your story ideas, which one is more prominent?
It depends. Sometimes I'm more focused on one story, but then a week later, I'm thinking more about another. Currently, it's the Aureate Allegiance though.
5) How do you improve your own writing skills?
I have people read, critique, and review my stuff for me. That way, I can work on improving on stuff that they've noticed in my writing.
6) What were some books that inspired you to become a writer?
Well, I've wanted to write stories for as long as I can remember, but I can recall that the books by Wendy Mass, C.S. Lewis, and Carolyn Keene being some of my major inspiration when I was younger.
*Bri came with two amazing names for Aliyah's story: the Aliyah Allegiance and Aliyah Shows Up Everyone, so credit to her for the name idea!
