Week 3 of Costuming: AKA Emerald Has Been Singing "Almost There" on Repeat

It has been a surprisingly productive week.

We had an after-school rehearsal on Monday, after which one of the directors pulled me to the side and informed me that costumes are not actually due on November 15th, but they only give us due dates so that we get motivated and they don't risk their cast being costumed right before opening night. But did Emerald take her director's advice and allowed herself to "chill out a little" and to "not worry about the due date"?

No. No, Emerald did not. Because Emerald likes having due dates so that everything is on time. How dare you try to take away Emerald's due date from her when it iS ALL THAT SHE HAS IN THIS DARK, DARK WORLD AND-

Ahem. Anyways.

I also found out on Tuesday that I have a lot more girls to costume for than previously expected. So yeah. That's fun. But it's okay, because guess who got almost everyone costumed on Thursday? Yeah, that's right, it's ya gurl Emerald!

The last two girls that I have left to costume for is an either-or situation. A few weeks ago, we had a Brazilian exchange student ask to be a part of our theatre! We said yes, of course. But there's only room for one more ensemble girl left in the show, so her being in the show all depends if she can learn the choreography for a banquet dance scene. If not, then another girl will take her place. So I have to costume for both of those girls just in case.

Oh oh oh! Also on Thursday, I grabbed a dry erase marker and drew out a large chart on a dressing room mirror so that I could plot out which costumes for which scenes our lovely leading ladies will wear! I worked on that chart all the way to the bell, and I would have gone over it with the directors today if I hadn't had gotten sick and had to go home. I'm feeling a little bit better than I was, but I still have a fever, and my parents are telling me that it looks like I won't be able to go to a concert tomorrow night that my choir was asked to performance, which stinks.

But I'm sure I'll get better quickly! I just finished rewatching Newsies, and my headache has gone away a little bit! So I guess musicals have the magical abilities to help heal sicknesses a little bit! Hmm, maybe I should watch another musical now...
