A Little Bit of Me Positivity

With the new year coming up, everyone is making resolutions to better improve themselves, develop their skills, and become a better them, which is amazing! I'm doing the same, but I thought it might be nice to take a step back and do a little self-reflection to see what parts of myself I like and enjoy instead of focusing on the negative. I struggle with keeping a positive viewpoint of myself, so I figured that this might could help.

~Physical Appearance Positivity~

I like my eyes. They're a dark, dark brown color that you really have to stare intensely at to pinpoint just exactly where my pupils are. I like to imagine that my eyes are tubs of dark chocolate that you could just dive into. If people with blue eyes get told that people could swim in their eyes, I'd like to be told that too. Only mine are more delicious. I like my eyes.

I have a nice complexion. For the most part, I don't get really bad acne, which is nice. My cheeks are also usually pink, making me look alive and excited to be living. I have a nice complexion.

I like my Cupid's arrow. It's arched rather nicely, and it makes me look very elegant, especially when I have to wear lipstick. I've been told a few times that I'm blessed to have such a nice Cupid's arrow, which I have to agree with. I like my Cupid's arrow.

Even though it gives me so much trouble, I love my hair. Like my eyes, it's a dark, dark brown. It's extremely thick and long, reaching right above my rear end. People enjoy playing with it; one of my friends even invented a special type of braid for my hair! I can arrange it to keep my neck, ears, face, and arms warm when it's cold, and it helps block out the sun from my eyes. I enjoy brushing it, and I like the way it frames my face and makes me look very mature whenever it's pulled up. I love my hair.

This is weird, but I like my fingers. They're long, but not freakishly so. It's easy to make holding stuff like elegant, and I like running them through my hair. I like my fingers.

I may not be a size 2, but at least my body doesn't resemble a seven year old's. I've matured into my body, but I know how to display it appropriately and what is too much when it comes to skin.

~Talents and Skills Positivity~

I'm great at picking up new skills. I can usually self-teach myself how to do something, but I've always been good at quickly learning how to do something and how to improve it. I'm great at picking up new skills.

I am a talented performer. I have won multiple awards for my acting and singing at drama awards and music ceremonies. I've recorded my own album. I've been asked to perform at churches, charity events, and pageants. I am a talented performer.

I'm a good public speaker. I do a pretty swell job at figuring out my audience in order to deliver them an effective message. I don't get stage fright and I make eye contact with individuals. I know when to keep pushing and when it's become too much. I'm a good public speaker.

I am an extremely smart student. I take all gifted and advanced classes. I've had straight As since kindergarten. I qualified for a gifted student program all the way back in first grade. I made a 22 on the ACT in just the seventh grade, and I was in the top 33 of students who took the PSAT in my grade this year. I am an extremely smart student.

I am a good writer. I enjoy writing. Description language is my forte, but I'm also skilled at writing essays, especially argumentative. I've been praised by teachers for my story stories, creativity, and strength in voice. While this is ironically difficult for me to write, I am a good writer.

~Personality Positivity~

I'm a people person. I remember one of my favorite directors once telling me that she knew that I would be able to befriend the aloof boy, who was playing my love interest in an upcoming show, to the point that he would be perfectly happy skipping down a field of flowers with me because I have a knack for making friends with the stand-offish of people. I'm good at figuring people out before I really know them; I give myself to them in doses until they're comfortable enough to open up to me and are willing to know all of me. I know when someone would feel more comfortable if I did all of the talking, when there's something on their minds that they're itching to talk about, and when they just want a little bit of silence. I'm good at figuring out what people want and need, and I help give it to them. I'm a people person.

I possess a strong moral compass. I have a great idea of what's right and what's wrong. If I'm thinking about doing something wring, my conscience will suddenly bring itself front and center to try to stop me. If I still end up doing it, my conscience will reign terror on my mind and soul, sometimes causing me actual physical pain, until I find a way to right my wrong. I possess a strong moral compass.

I am a compassionate person. It hurts my heart to see someone struggling to make friends or with mastering a new skill, so I do my best to help that person. I have the patience to walk someone through something new, even when they're very slow. I make friends with those deemed strange or awkward by the school society. I sympathize and empathize with others. I am a compassionate person.

I have a motherly nature. I make sure that my friends are healthy, rested, and prepared for their day, and if they aren't, I give them a good talking-to to make them understand why taking care of themselves is important. There are certain younger girls who refer to me as their second mother; I mentor them and help guide them through their day when their actual parents aren't around. I assure to see that my friends always look presentable, and I make sure that they always know that I'm there to lend an ear if they need to talk. I have a motherly nature.
