Divergent

This is during the test thingy the kids get when they turn 16 in the series Divergent. This was my take if I were to write a book including Y/n being a divergent and taking the test that put her to be different than the others.

Slowly, your eyes shut and the world around you changed.

It's a dark room.
Dark and cold.

Walls covered in a thick black paint, making it seem like you were looking on into a never ending abyss.
It made the room seem large, but in reality, just an arm outstretched and you could graze your fingertips along the metal-plated barriers.

The floor was illuminated, though no source of light was clear to you, as if the floor was the cause of the light.

Four platters were displayed before you.
Each holding an element of their own.

A pile of rocks.
A stick surrounded in flames.
A cup of water.
And...nothing.

You knew what this was, instantly almost.
You had to choose which element you felt closest too, or which one interested you the most.

It was an underlying choice of Faction.
The rocks symbolized Candor, the flames were Dauntless, water equaled Erudite, and the nothingness was Amity.

The elements each took an aspect of the Faction they were assigned to.

Candor: strength in the known.
Dauntless: power.
Erudite: flexibility and knowledge.
Air: peace.

But, where was Abnegation?

Glancing down at your hands that shook, you inquired with a lifted eyebrow.
Then it came to you.

Not to choose any element meant selflessness, the need to keep opinions to yourself, to be Abnegation.

You smirked, proud of your Erudite up growing that led you with the intelligence to figure out such question.

But was that really the question?
No.
The question was, which will you choose?

Of course, it was expected that you'd choose water, after all you grew up being Erudite.
But there was something about the air that kept you entrapped at the sight.

You couldn't literally see it, but you knew it surrounded you, it kept you alive.
It intrigued you.

So you passed a hand over the bowl filled with nothing, and-
They all disappeared.

Then you could see.
You could see the room expand, see the dark wall lighten to a grey.
You could see the plating of metal, the screws it took to keep the sheets in place.

You could see a man staring you down.

He was a mere eight feet away, but his glare made him feel that much closer.

The glare that tore through you, that sent a shiver up your spine; and yet, you stood your place.

And you could feel it, feel as you lifted a hand the air around it swirled.
So strong it almost lifted you off your feet, and you gasped out in surprise.

Then the man came after you.

Shards of ice swept the floor beneath him, plumes of flames floated from his hands, and the ground beneath you rumbled.

But you moved quick.
In a silent thanking of your Erudite eyes for memorizing every move and counteracting it smartly, you dodged his every advance.

The sudden speed and strength you had showed a daunting side to you. You were fast, you were strong, and the man could never land a hit on you.

No matter how hard he tried, even if his arms swung down on you, it never reached.

Instead, you awake with a panting chest and a pounding headache at the realization that you showed three different Factions.

Amity.
Erudite.
Dauntless.
