Minsoo #1

HEY KIDS my first drabble's gonna be about my lovable single dad Minsoo who's tag is linked somewhere on here I don't know how wattpad works anymore but fear not! I'll also add a video of the person I kind of portray Minsoo after (his irl name is Soohyun and he's the leader of U-KISS, my fave kpop group) and his character came to me after seeing the bts videos of him and his nephew pre-Stalker promotions. Also a warning that this drabble for the most part will be unedited - I'll look through after I write it to make sure it makes sense but after I hit publish, it won't be touched. I'm also not going to name it because honestly I'm very bad at naming things. I'm not really sure what else to say but I hope you enjoy? Feel free to leave ideas of topics to write about, I'll probably end up writing them!

ALSO DISCLAIMER IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW: this kinda deals with death?? Minsoo's wife passed away and it's touched on here SO IF THAT'S A SENSITIVE SUBJECT I'M SORRY  I PROMISE THE NEXT DRABBLE WILL BE HAPPIER YOU DON'T HAVE TO READ THIS IF YOU DON'T WANT TO BRING UP BAD EMOTIONS OKAY LOVE YOU ALL HAVE A GOOD DAY.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After absolutely everything Minsoo had gone through, all the heart break of not being close to family and losing the love of his life four years ago, he still couldn't comprehend what he had done to have such an amazing son like his.

To say that Yongmin was the light of his life was an understatement; he was Minsoo's reason for still being on this earth, for never giving up even when times were the hardest. Now that Yongmin was officially starting school in the next few days, the male had taken every opportunity to spend time with him, even if it meant skipping a day or two of work. It was worth it though, to see an extra few smiles and hear the laugh that made his heart sing.

"Yongmin, are you excited for school?" the father asked, only to receive a head nod and hum in reply. "You'll meet a lot of new friends, and I hope you'll be close with them. Remember to always be nice to those around you, like dad taught you, okay?"

The toddler turned in Minsoo's arm from their position on the couch, wrapping his arms around his father's neck to hug him tightly. "You stay at school too?" he asked, eyes wide with hope.

"For the first bit," the elder male replied, hugging his son close to him. "But then I have to work, but I will be waiting for you when it's time to come home, and we can celebrate with ice cream, like we do for every celebration, okay?"

Yongmin nodded his understanding - though Minsoo wasn't positive if the four-year-old actually understood his words, he was excelling faster than most children but still a toddler, things were allowed to not make sense - and gave his father a kiss on the cheek. "Mama's picture come too? The pretty white one?"

This made Minsoo's heart ache. He was always open about who Mama was and that even though she wasn't here she still loved Yongmin, pictures of the two of them before she died scattered around their tiny apartment, along with a few of herself and her pregnant belly, as if she had only been gone for a few days instead of years. It felt like decades to Minsoo sometimes, though he'd never admit that out loud. "Of course," he whispered, blinking back a few tears and brushing some hair from Yongmin's eyes. "We'll show your teacher and I'm sure she'd be happy to keep a picture in your cubby so you'll always see her. I think that would make mama very happy."

"I'll tell mama!" the toddler exclaimed happily, jumping off of his father's lap and scurried off to his room, more than likely to grab the picture from his night stand and talk to it like he did every night, hoping she'd talk back. Pictures and the few videos Minsoo had of them together weren't enough for the young boy some times, but he wouldn't stop rewatching them over and over, sometimes for hours on end to try and get his mama to talk back. The male would even sometimes find Yongmin talking on his toy phone to his mama, holding a long conversation until the boy fell asleep. It was equally adorable and heartbreaking, but Minsoo never wanted to interrupt the conversation, even if it was to call him for dinner.

Leaning his head back and closing his eyes, Minsoo took a few deep breaths before mumbling under his breath. "We'll make you proud, love. We miss you, and we'll stay safe.. promise."
