act eighteen.
sherlock sat outside, smoking a cigeratte to calm his nerves as he looked out on the crowd that was sitting there, ready to see him and john get married.
"sherlock what are you doing?" molly asked, poking her head out the window. "why are you on the roof?"
sherlock looked at her and took another drag. "i need to calm down." he said the put the cigeratte out, standing up and climbing back into the farm house.
"you got your suit all dirty." molly said as she rubbed the dirt off of sherlock's suit.
sherlock sighed and let her, looking at himself in the mirror. it took three years to plan a wedding. mainly because him and john didn't really do anything for the first two years, but they started planning around their annaversary on the third year. sherlock really was big on the whole marriage thing, but john was. and he wanted to make john happy. he didn't understand the point in marriage. you're basically signing a contract saying you're legally attached to this person. sherlock really hoped this would work through out the gears because he didn't really want to go through a whole divorced process. some where inside, he knew it would work with john because it did for four years, and more years were bound to come. and john loved him. he really did. and of course he loved john too, but the entire marriage process was still freaking him out. it was a private wedding, on some farm that one of john's mate's own, sherlock didn't know. but it was beautiful out here and it was nice to be in fresh air and not in a stuffy church.
"you alright?" molly asked softly.
sherlock turned and smiled. "i think i'm ready." he said and sighed.
molly smiled, squealing softly before running out of the room. sherlock laughed at her a bit then looked at himself in the mirror one more time before walking out of the room. he walked down stairs then out of the house and too the cermony area. once he stood at the end of the asile, everyone stood up and looked at him, then mrs hudson came over and locked arms with him. she was giving him off since his parents didn't want to come and sherlock was fine with that. she was more of a mother than his actual mother.
"you'll do great." mrs hudson said to sherlock, kissing his cheek before sitting down.
sherlock walked to the other side of the priest and stood next to molly, looking at john who wore a gigantic grin. his eyes were a little red and he could tell john was crying. he stood there and listened to the priest babble on about love and health and sickness and death, but sherlock didn't care. he just watched john cry, smiling at him. they were happy tears.
"exchange the rings." the priest said then stepped back.
sherlock and john both stepped foward, pulling the rings out of their pockets. "you look amazing." john said softly to sherlock, sniffling. he laughed at himself softly then took sherlock's hand, sliding the ring on it.
sherlock smiled at him and slid john's ring on his finger. he cupped john's cheek and wiped his tears away. "don't cry, it's our wedding day." he said, making john laugh a bit.
"you may kiss the groom." the priest announced.
sherlock pulled john close and kissed him deeply, people applauding for them. sherlock started to laugh softly, causing them to pull apart.
"why are you laughing?" john asked.
"we're married. i'm married. to you!" he exclaimed, laughing a bit as he was not able to believe it still that some one wanted to marry him, that some one is married to him.
john laughed with him, nodding. "yes, we are." he smiled.
sherlock grinned and kissed john again. john kissed back a quick second then pulled away.
"come on, we have to go take pictures." he said and held sherlock's hand, pulling him down the asiel. sherlock followed behind him.
it was a long, happy day. john and sherlock were constant smiles along with every one else. it was a great day. it didn't even feel like a wedding, it felt like a small party, but more of a formal one. they all had a great time. john had never been happier in his entire life. they danced around like idiots on the dance floor with people around them, laughing and smiles covering their entire face. the last dance of the night was a slow one and couples joined the newly weds. john and sherlock swayed softly togther, smiling hopelessly at one another.
"i'm so happy." john whispered to sherlock. "you make me incredibly happy."
"as do you for me." sherlock smiled back. "you've always made me happy."
"have i really?" john asked softly.
sherlock nodded.
"even before we didn't know each other?"
sherlock nodded again. "i would get worked up and listen to your interviews or read your book and fix your mistakes which made me feel better about myself." sherlock admitted.
john laughed softly. "did you really?"
"maybe." sherlock said. "you should really publish a new book."
"and you could co write it with me." john offered. "correct my mistakes in the drafts so i don't make a fool of myself."
"of course i will." sherlock said.
"really?" john asked.
sherlock nodded. "what good of a husband would i be if i didn't?" he asked, getting a laugh out of the doctor.
john smiled up at him and kissed him sweetly. "i love you." he whispered.
"i love you, too." sherlock whispered back, kissing the doctor again.
