On that day, every man woman and child, on each, instant turned to stone

"This is it Senku! My mind's made up!" Taiju yelled as he entered the science lab. "I'm finally gonna do it! After five long years, i'm telling her how I feel!" Everyone in the science lab gasped, Everyone in the classroom looks surprised, well all except for one boy, who was way absorbed in his work to even care.

. "Wow. Fascinating," Senku said sarcastically. "I can't leave the lab right now, but I promise to cheer you on so vociferously, my vocal cords will snap." He said with a monotone voice, inserting a jar of liquid into his weird contraption, one girl in there giggled at his sarcasm, a beautiful one, bright red hair and violet eyes " awesome! You mean it?" Taiji asked excitedly " you rock senku!"

"No you big oaf. I won't project my voice even one millimeter for your cause." Senku said with a nonchalant tone in his voice as he continued on his machine

" what?! Come on man!" Taiji complained

"Look, you felt this way for five years and you've never said anything? I can't praise such illogical behaviour, but I can give you something logical as hell." Senku put on gloves and raised the vial of clear liquid "I've developed this drug as a kind of love potion. It maxes out your pheromone levels, granting you a ten billion percent chance of winning her heart." He smirked

Senku handed Taiju the 'potion' He starred at the potion for a couple of seconds, before pouring it down a nearby sink.

Everyone but senku and the  girl, other science club members gasped. "Thanks but no thanks, Senku. I gotta do this my way." Taiju said " you'll still support me right yuna?" He turns to the girl who nodded with a grin " sure man, good luck" she gave a thumbs up " thanks! " he says as he walked away and exited the science lab

"Really, Senku?" he asked. He just shrugged. "Woah, are you serious? You made a love potion?" one science club member asked.

"Are you serious, you made a love potion?"

"Come on, use your brains, it's gasoline." Yuna said which caught their attention, a match was thrown into the link and a small fire formed, while the club members gasp

"She's right, I simply refined it from plastic bottle caps, consider the molecular structure of polyethylene. It's just like a long gasoline molecule minus a few hydrocarbons. You can tell just by looking." Senku said

."I can't." "Me neither."

"Yeah but, if Taiju would have drunk that, wouldn't it have killed him?"

"The odds of him drinking that are 10 billion to one. He's dumb but too straight-laced."senku stated

Outside

Yuzuriha waited by the tree she was gonna meet taiju by, she noticed the branch was damaged and talking of her ribbon attacked to her school uniform, and wrapped it around the injured branch as Taiji arrived."Yuzuriha, I'm sorry I'm late."

"It's fine, so what's going on Taiju? You wanted to talk to me?" Yuzuriha said turning around with her hands behind her back, the students from the lab watch making bets

"100 yen on heartbreak."

"300 on her making him cry."

"500 on her calling him a creep."Opening up an energy drink Senku made his own bet. "I bet 10, 000 shes into him too." "Seriously!?!" They all screamed while Yuna giggled, next to senku, Taiji gripped his fists feeling nervous ' all this time, I was so scared that if I tell her how I really feel about her, she'd not want to be my friend anymore...but I can't keep it a secret forever,'

"It's like this Yuzuriha" he began while she was surprised with a red hue "I've kept this inside me for 5 years," Taiju began, Before he could finish his sentence he noticed a green light behind Yuzuriha. This drew both the attention of yuna and Senku.

" senku...what the hell?..."

" I don't know either yuna..." he stood in front of her protectively, but Before anyone knew it every person on earth was turned to stone.

Crack!

She gasped from the sudden sound, Her stone body then began to cracking, a pice cracked all its way to her face, breaking away and revealing one of her violet eyes, she grunted as she using all her strength to free the rest of herself

" I'm did it! I'm out!" She cheered, she took in her surrounding and found herself in a forest, she noticed something next the, or rather someone and gasped when she saw the stone figure senku

" senku?...." Her facial hair expression turned sad ' so you went through it too....' as soon as she looked down at herself, her eyes widened.....

She was naked

" crap!" She covers herself ' okay, keep calm, first, let's work on something to cover myself, then on a shelter, and figure out how to free senku' she wandered around and, wound some leaves and vines to make a temporary covering

' but first I need to mark where I used to lay' she placed rocks around where she lay when in stone form ' and just invade their important, I'll leave them in a pile, he would do the same thing' she held a piece of the stone that had fallen off, while sadly thinking of her friend still trapped in stone

As she walked around and was shocked at what she found, other people trapped in stone form " oh my god..." she wandered through the wilderness seeing more people frozen in stone " what happened to us?..." she muttered ' judging by the vegetation, we've been out for centuries'

She eventually came across the river, taking a sip ' the average human needs 2 litres of water a day, through sweating we loose 2% of water, you start feeling thirsty, 3% you start to have symptoms like dehydration, 5% headaches and dizziness, 10%......Death....' she shook her head at the thought ' I'm not gonna die, I'm gonna live'She started getting what she needed, While walking she came across a tall tree, and was shocked at who she saw on it

"yuzuriha..." she walked up closer, small tears built up in her eyes, as she saw her best friend in stone " your okay...if you okay, then that block head must be too, he wouldn't go thay easy" she wiped away her tears " I'll survive for now, along the way, I'll find taiju ...for you"
She gathered different rocks ' different rocks, different purposes' she thought, someone she knew would say that ' senku....'

She picked up a one piece ' I can use this as a knife' she thought looking at the piece of chert

She carved out of wood, to make a bow, then from. A plant, peeled away and tied twisted what she had to make rope, then tied it to make a perfect hunting bow ' alright!' She fist pumped ' with this it'll make things easy for hunting! And the knife for cutting!'

The sun was beginning to set and she was starting to get hungry, She saw a deer, she stood on a branch, aiming an arrow, as soon as it released it went flying,

striking it down " yes!" She smirked with a fist pump

That night, She worked on starting a fire to cook the meat, she let out tears of joy at the flavour of the cooked meat, and over time, she made clothes out of animal skin, and a sling shot, just in case, and from what cloth she had left, she used it to tie her hair up in a bun, so her long hair wouldn't get in the way of things, and from the wood, she crafted Herself a mask, to scare creatures off

I was gonna use the bottom one, but I prefer the top one, and yes I drew this design below, it was hard to draw the eyes conspiring how small, I usually would draw online if easy, hair style included, but not now

Next day

As she was walking, she noticed some damaged areas, inspecting them " looks like the work of a wild boar, better be careful" she muttered to herself

She heard whimpering coming form further up " did something get stuck in a trap?" She stared running towards the whimpering, She saw two little wolf pups with an even tinier wolf pup, whimpering along an injured female, well one of them was growling at something in the shade of trees '  must be their mother'

when she glanced at what the other wolf was growling at and gasped

A giant boar emerged from the trees, she knew if she stayed long it would eventually notice her and come charging, but before she could, she saw the wolf pups, excluding the small one, growling At the boar, it hurt her heart, they were protecting their mother

The boar huffed and stomped it's heel, then Started charging towards them, san gasped and started running down at the boar ' I'm so stupid!' Just before it could attack, she jumped on its head, grabbing its tusks, grunting while leaning it the left, the boar crashed and got its tusks stick in a tree, squealing while trying to get free

Taking this time, yuna retreated back to the mother wolf, while the three wolfs watch curiously as did the mother, she inspected the mother wolf to find a wound on her side which was bleeding ' the boar must have done that' she ripped a piece of her clothing with her teeth to make a makeshift bandage, then tied it around the mothers injury " your gonna he okay, I'll protect you and your pups" she nuzzled her head at the girls, she held in her tears, she wiped them and turned back to serious

As the boar freed itself from tree, yuna marched back, standing inches away, knife in hand, glaring at the beast, she saw a small pool of blood on the ground, she kneeled down, and took it back up, brushing it blood into a triangle shape on both sides of her cheeks, and one of her forehead

Growling at the boar, as if she was a wolf, It huffed, then charged at her, she let out a battle roar and charged at it, before its tusks could stab, she jumped over its head, it skid on the dirt, changing its cross back to the girl again

She ran the opposite direction, climbing into the tree, just as the boar was about to pass, she jumped on its head, yanking it's tusks in the direction she wanted to go as it ran through the forest" okay!" She gasped " I've had enough of you!" She grunted when she turned its head to the right, once the trees cleared, she gasped when she saw a cliff, both went over, san screaming, while the boar loudly squealed, yuna held onto its fur as they fell

Time skip

The little wolf from before hopped from rock to rock, while the other two assisted the mother wolf, they then heard the sound of the tiny one barking and saw the Boar Dead

The mother wolf growled at it, for attacking her And her pups, least they had food for tonight, they then heard the small pup barking again, and looked to find it next to the young girl who had saved their lives, motionless, the mother limped over while the little one nuzzled it's head against her girls face, a small groan, then a painful one, her eyes opened slightly and attempting to move, was a bad idea, the fall from before had left a bleeding scar on her arm

The mother wolf started lapping up the blood,

" thank you" yuna smiled weakly, and the wolf nuzzles it's head against her cheek, she then passes out from exhaustion, the mother motioned for one of her pups to carry her, since she was injured

One of them lifts her by the collar of her shirt and placed her on the other wolfs back, the small one barked excitedly as it knew they were making her one of them, while the one carrying yuna, the mother limping in the direction, while the other one growled while dragging the board body, the little one even tried to by pulling its tail, it was so adorable

Timeskip

The wolfs took san back to their cave, the girl stayed asleep, they ate the bot meet and crawled into the cave when it began to rain

The two young wolfs lay in their individual place, the small one, next to the girl and the mother, next to her giving her warmth, As the next day arrived, yuna awoke to the feeling of being slobbered " ew..." she smiled weakly " stop.." she laughed, she then gasped and got up, hissing from the pain on her arm, , then and noticed the scar

She tore some of her clothing and wrapped the wound around her arm, she then looked down on her lap when she heard small huffing and saw the tiny wolf " aww! I remember you!" She coed, rubbing its fur, which it enjoyed, then gasped-slightly when she remembered her fight

the wolf jumped of and ran to the entrance, turning back and barking, indication it wanted her to follow, she got up, holding her injured arm, she saw the other two wolfs, playing about, and the mother, on a high rock

she then sniffed the air and turned towards yun, who flinched, she got of the rock and walked, or rather limped to her, yuna didn't dare move, but knew she wasn't in any danger, the wolf sniffed her for a second before licking her face, she squealed and laughed, the two other wolfs heard this and charged over, tackling the girl and Slobbering her face in licks, making her laugh more

She looked back at the intern once she got the other two off, and saw her head was lowered, she wondered while until she looked to the mothers wound, it was bleeding through the bandage, yuna knew " no..." small tears built up, she got up and rushed to her, hugging her head

" it's not fair..." she sobbed and the mother wolf nuzzles into the girl, the girl looked back at her " I'll look after them..." she said, motioning to her kid wolfs " Until your final moment..." she says

Over time, yuna spent her time with the wolfs, for other a few days, it was happy, hunting with the wolfs and the small wolf for their mother, playing......

But sadly it couldn't last, the mother wolfs day finally came, with her stone shovel, she helped her new wolf family dig a grave for their mother, they helped her carry her to the grave, then covered it up, yuna placed a bouquet of wolf flowers and layed them on the grave, wiping her tears

She took care of the wolfs, just as she promised, hunting with the bow and bringing them food, she cooked it before they ate, which she drowned laughing in slobbery kisses, any dangerous animals that come looking for a fight, she would defend them

One day while she as walking, she and the wolfs were hunting in another area, not too far from senku, she felt sad and wanted to visit him, as she walked she tripped over something,  grunting as she hit the floor " what the hell..." she small one whined as she was hurt, she smiled and rubbed his head " I'm okay" she turned to look at what had tripped her and saw a hand, for some reason, she felt like there was a reason why, so she started digging it up, with her hands, and the wolfs help, she gasped when she saw who it was

" taiju..." the same expression he had when they were petrified " so this is where you've been..." she chucked " I finally found all three of you..." she felt tears slip down, then wiped them up

She moved him out of the path, and lay him in the grass, and decided to pay someone a little visit

At the same tree, she found her" hey yuzuriha...you'll never guess who I found...I actually stumbled across taiju...sadly he's still stuck in stone form...i also somehow tamed a pair of wolfs...crazy huh?" She tried hard to hold in her tears, the wolfs come next to her, nuzzling their heads, on her to comfort her, She rubbed their heads

She turned back to her friend " don't worry...once I find out how I woke up, I'll wake you, senku and taiju, then we can help everyone else we can!" With her knife, she carved a little message, just in case taiju woke up, since she knew he'd find this, and yuzuriha

'Follow the stream, big oaf'

She went back to senku's stone body still lying where it was " I owe you one senku, and the others...thinking of you guys kept me going in the darkness..." she lowered her head against his stone chest

" I miss you...please comeback...I don't wanna be alone..." before she left for the cave, she moved his body, and made him a bed of leaves, sparing one last glance, before she returned to the pack

After some time

'One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine...Heh... alright... I can make it past 800, 000 seconds without all but losing consciousness now...guess my brains finally adjusting...'  his stone body lay in the same place it was stuck '

I've been frozen for 117,354,889,550 seconds... so this is the 3,718th spring since I froze. Starting in the spring is an absolute must if i wanna survive...okay. No time like the present. Come on me. Get up!Get. Up! Get up, dammit! Get up! Get up!'

One by one little cracks appeared on the stone Senku was trapped in. Gasping for air Senku got up and yelled, "YEAH! IM FINALLY FREE!!"

Really he lay there at the thought of it

'Yeah. A flashy entrance like that would have been fun' he chuckled ' but I'm 10 billion percent sure that's how my blockhead friend taiju would've done it.' Getting up Senku looked around.

'My first objective is to evaluate my surroundings. I'll start with my own body, it can give me clues that're worth its weight in gold.' He then noticed what he was lying on ' a leaf bed?'he removed the leaves and saw the marker of his body the stone casing had left ' someone was here then, I'm not the only one awake...' his eyes widened ' and to only do it around me, it had to be someone I knew...' he then remembered someone with him when the wave hit and looked towards that area, all that was left was a crater of the persons body and the stone pieces, and rocks layed around it ' yuna! She must have broken out! This is her doing!' He smiled slightly ' but where is she?...' he looked around and saw nothing, no one ' as a survivalist, she be following the first few steps..'

He then lay rocks around where he layed in stone form

'My initial location. the position of my body' he then held a piece of the stone pieces that fell of him ' even the order in which the mystery stone fragment fell off of me. I'm going to keep every last piece for when I'm ready to investigate later, just as she did...'

From behind him, he could hear something rattling in the trees, he turned to see there monkeys in the tree, one glaring examining him

'Yo, where you from? Where's your monkey tribe?' They said as if they thought he knew what they were talking about.

Finally noticing the look of his body the monkeys froze, since he was naked

."DUDES ALL SMOOTH AND SHINY!"Running away they couldn't help but be terrified,

."Gross! What kind of monkey has skin like that?!?!"

"HE'S GOT HIS NASTY PEEPEE OUT, TOO!"

"WELL SO DO ALL OF US BUT STILL!"

"GROSS!"

All of this happened while Senku just stood there confused

."Am I the first human they've seen?" Senku wondered as he broke off a bunch of vines from a tree.

Tying them around his waist he got straight to work. "Doesn't look like civilization survived, this is a whole new world. And from the looks of things, I might be the second shiny monkey to be born in it.Hehe, this is exhilarating, get excited. Now time to find yuna."

Walking around to explore the new terrain Senku found himself next to a cliff.

117,354,893,870 seconds now. This is some nasty mental math when I factor in the leap years, not to mention the earths rotation of the earth slows down by seventeen-millionths of a second every year, it hardly adds up to anything though.

April 1st 5730 AD, though you could call this year 0 cause it all begins today.

Turning around once more he found another set of monkeys looking at him.

Grabbing a chunk of wood and a stick he place the chunk of wood on the ground and placed the stick in between his hands.

"Behold the power of the smooth and shiny monkey. My forbearers had the technology to reach space. and I'll rebuild their civilization from scratch." He smirked

For about 2 hours Senku sat there rubbing his hands in the same circular motion, not seeing the monkeys watching from afar

."He's been sitting there the whole time"

"that shiny monkeys a dum-dum."

" let's go home"

" what a moron"

Lowering the stick onto the piece of wood he began to create a circular motion with his hands, Even after the sky changed, Senku never stopped for a second. That was until he ran out of energy of course.

Falling back Senku began to compare himself to his friends.

'I'm neither a meathead like Taiju, an ultra dextrous craft kid like Yuzuriha, or a survival expert like yuna, there's no way I could start a fire with nothing but a primitive hand drill...not japans humility'

A smirk made its way up to Senku's face. 'Heh, that's right this shiny monkey has neither fangs nor claws, all I can do is improvise one step at a time, that's how civilization advances."Getting up Senku went to go find the needed material.

He searched around, looking for what seemed to be a bunch of stones.

When he finally found the ones he needed he began to bang them together, when the one he repeated hitting broke he screamed, and continued hitting other rocks, while the monkeys watched

"Why does he keep smashing rocks like that?"

"That shiny monkey's definitely a dum-dum."

And One by one Senku broke each and every rock he managed to get his hands on.

"There's a trick to this, But I'll only find it by trial and error." He scraped a rock against a shiny bluish grey one, which chipped a little 'Maybe I should bash the edges off in midair." Then then started cutting o w with a sharp brown one, which he could hold like it was a fat pencil

' or maybe I could use a solid foundation and aiming it right at its edge chipping at both pieces at once. Can't forget that different stones have different uses.' He looked at the rock in his hand that was similar to the same one sen found

'This colorful piece of chert is the hardest rock around which makes it the perfect material to craft into a knife." Flashes of his study's in science came back to him, and all the experiments he preformed

"Study everything, Try everything." He chuckled at his success

Shiny monkey acquired stone tools!!

Using his newly acquired tool he cut threw vines with eas. Gripping the vine in one hand he used the chert from before to cut the string "I can unravel this season plant like string cheese"

Taking the unraveled plant, Then began to twist it to make it into durable rope, of course the monkeys were watching

" it looks like he's twisting it now.."

"I bet you his brain is just as smooth as his skin"

He then Pulled and it began to hold, smirking at his other accomplishment

Taking a bent tree branch he tied the rope around it so now he was left with something that looked like a bow. Tying the string's bow onto the branch he had from the beginning he places it back on the wood chunk and began twisting it so now it would be easier to move the stick in a circular motion. 

'Surprisingly enough. there are quite a few animals who use tools, crows, otters, orangutans, and more.'The monkeys of course were watching in curiosity'But out of all the creatures in this world, only one can make use of science.' When he was finished, he picked up the piece of wood and started blowing on it gently ' When cellulose is heated through friction and exposed to air it rapidly oxidized giving us...'

The monkeys screamed as the flames bursted from the wood

'COMBUSTION!!' He smirked

When he thought he was ready Senku began his hunt for new materials such as wood and for food, cutting down trees with his shiny tools, using the rope to pull them along

With the sharp rock and wood, he made a spear, and started running through the woods after a deer, of course he was struggling, since he was a man of science, not like a expert in sports, one of the monkeys watched as he walked away " huh?"

He  actually came up with a plan, with the rope, bending a branch, and some Berry's, he created a little booby trap

' I can take everything this universe has to offer' and the plan worked, the deer fell for the bait and the trap sprung, pulling it and hanging it upside down " I'm the master of science!" He fistpumped, that night, he dragged the meat back to his so called home, with a blissful expression form the taste once he started eating, over time he had mastered making clay pots, and working on a shelter in the tree, Animal skin into clothing

The monkeys gasped at what they saw, him Coming out of the little cabin he had put the finishing touches on his clothes, as he did so he said to the monkeys who were outside.  "Just realized I never introduced myself, it's a pleasure to meet you all." 

"Ahh, what the hell is that!!"

"The shiny monkey isn't shiny anymore!!" The monkeys said

.  "You see, I'm the one of the only two of my kind still walking this world I'm a human being."  Acquired food and shelter!! 

"I intend to build a technological civilization from scratch, and this is where it all starts." He smirked " where ever you are yuna, I hope we find each other" he says to himself

Timeskip

Taking out a batch full of mushrooms Senku placed it down in front of his makeshift shelter."Heh, it's finally starting to look like a place fit for an actual human. Okay, to be honest, I don't think I can keep hitting ignore on my exhaustion for too much longer."

Falling back Senku finally hit his point. 'Damn, I had no idea it was this hard trying to keep one person alive, how does yuna do it? there's no time for scientific progress, what I wouldn't give for someone with brute strength and stamina to handle the grunt work, I need to find her...."

While walking he saw a certain familiar face, in stone form, and a hole that had been completely dug up " so she was here before, can't believe I didn't notice" he thought of the girl " so you found taiju, and I'm guessing where ever you are, you must have found yuzuriha too, atta girl yuna" he smirked, still looking at the stone frozen friend

"Hah, although I do get a little sick from looking at his stupid face, I think 3700 years may have been enough of a break. Hey big oaf." Setting his shovel down Senku got down and began to poke Taiju's 'eyes'. "Alright, time to get on Senku's lab's first project. So tell me, meathead, what will it take for you to wake up like I did."

'The even bigger question is what exactly was it that turned humanity to stone 3700 years ago?

HYPOTHESIS NO.1

Imagining a bunch of aliens Senku began a voice over. "Dude earthlings are so lame, so let's turn them into stone it did work on those pesky swallows, PRETERATE!! Get excited."

HYPOTHESIS NO.2

Now imagining himself as a military general Senku began another voice over. "Haha, the petrification doom ray is finally ready! What in tarnation, it got us as well!

HYPOTHESIS NO.3

Now imagine a bunch of microorganisms Senku began his final voice over. "Hehe, we are the petriculcus virus, only humans and swallows are vulnerable to our power. Get excited."

'The only thing I'm sure of is whatever caused this targeted humans and swallows specifically. It seems like a fantasy, but in reality, there's an underlying role which means I can solve it discovering these hidden roles is what science is all about. Right now I'm staring down a new path, an uncharted branch of science. Get excited Senku. What did it? What caused me to break out of my petrified state? Was it a simple deterioration? If that were the case the outside surface exposed to the elements would be the first to break down, but petrified people are like statues, stone all the way threw, for me, it was like a shell. the outside was stone but the inside was living sells.'

Frozen Senku's eyes widened finding new information by rethinking everything that happens from before. Getting up and picking up some of the stone fragments that had fallen off of him he once again began to think.

'it's the other way around, the surface was deteriorated and couldn't revert to the living cells, it became a stone husk!!'

Piecing the stone back together Senku realized what he had been missing.

'The parts of the surface that were less petrified turned back to cells, that's why the reconstituted shell had holes in it. So I wasn't revived due to deterioration or erosion, there some outside x-factor in play. The fragments ended up in a pile with the ones closest to my head on the bottom which means the revival started at the top!!'

Looking up Senku was greeted by a bat.

Following the line to where it could have possibly come from, Senku found a cave
" there's gotta be something in there.."

Walking in he was able to smell a potent sent, plunging his nose. "Smells like nitric acid..." his eyes widened "That's it!! The back of my neck is still petrified, time for a quick experiment" Taking part in his hair that still had stone residue he placed it under the nitric acid.

Watching the stone break away from the hair a smile made its way upon Senku's face. Going back to his little makeshift shelter Senku took one of many small vases he made and went to go collect some of what he called miracle fluid.

When the vase was filled Senku took the vase and went to Taiju, hoping and praying it would work. To his dismay, it didn't work.

Now try it on a petrified swallow ' why did nitric acid only work on me?' He wondered while pouring it on the petrified bird

' it's not making one millimetre of progress on taiju. Or anyone else' he thought as he poured the fluid on others, which results were the same ' what makes me different?'

Back at the cave, pouring more of the stuff into a clay pot, he still kept thinking ' think.'

'I just need a working hypothesis, come on Senku think!!' His eyes slightly widened when a thought come to mind 'That's it I was thinking! For the entire time 3700 years I was petrified I remained conscious. The human brain burns through 400 calories per day, over 700 years, that works up to two terajoules of energy but where did all that energy come from?

E=mc² energy and mass have an equivalent exchange. Old man Einstein expressed a basic scientific truth with that equation, it tells us that we can't create energy from nothing, there's something in the stone itself that I was consuming, that's how I had the energy to use my brain.
