Magical

AndreaVaco-Here is a suuuuuper late Valentine's Day special. I love your idea and hope this works for ya!

You slumped against your apartment door, shutting it behind you as you kicked off your shoes. Running a hand through your hair, you tossed your to-go bag full of dirty clothes onto your couch and walked into the kitchen.

You loved your job, truly, you did, but man...sometimes there were things you had to do and things you had to see that really shook you to the core. And this last case was no different. You broke down and cried right in front of JJ. She didn't mind, of course, she held you and helped you freshen up. But it was afterward when Spencer came over and just gave you a huge hug, not saying anything that you truly let go.

Spencer held you for as long as you needed, rocking you slightly, rubbing your back and stroking your hair. You were positive you would never leave his arms, ever, until Morgan came in, cat calling and all.

But the Brute Force stopped when he saw your tear-stained cheeks and red puffy eyes. No one had to say anything to know why. Morgan gave you a quick hug, nodding to Spencer before he left, saying he didn't need to be in the room anyways.

Spencer looked at you, bitting the inside of his cheek. You only needed to glance at him to know what he was debating on saying.

"I'm alright Spence. It's just..."

"It's okay (Y/n). We are human. Sometimes when we are emotionally stimulated too much we respond by crying. It's the best way our body can tell us that we are taking too much in all at once. Once I cried when my mom gave me too many options for my Halloween costume."

You snorted, smiling weakly. "I'm sure you wanted to be all of them."

Spencer shook his head, looking off into the distance. "No, actually. I knew what I wanted to be, she was just trying to help change my mind since I had been it for two years already."

You sniffed, wiping your face of your remaining tears. "And what was that?"

A corner of his mouth lifted in a shy smile. "A magician."

You smiled wider, nodding. "I am not surprised one bit."

Spencer let his smile grow as he looked down at you, reaching up to stroke some hair away from your eyes. "But she gave in and let me be Magic Spence for the third year running. I would have worn it all year round if I hadn't continued growing."

"I bet you looked adorable."

"My mom sure thought so."

The two of you just looked at each other, glad that your spirits were lifted. But, slowly, Spencer's smile faltered. He took a step closer and lowered his voice. He played with some of your soft hair between his fingers.

"Are you sure you are alright?"

You took a deep breath and nodded. "Yeah, I'll be alright. Let's just get this unsub before any more children go missing."

Spencer nodded in return. "It's ok to feel overwhelmed."

You gave him a sweet smile. "Just not on the job. I don't want Hotch to think I can't handle it."

Spencer shook his head, leading you back to the group. "If anything you just proved you are the most human out of all of us. I don't think I have seen Hotch crack even once."

You snorted. "Well, he is Hotch."

Spencer looked at you and smiled, immediately making your middle grow all warm. "And you are (Y/n), the only girl I have ever met who makes crying look pretty."

You barked out a laugh at that though you didn't miss the sincerity in his voice.

You were bright back to reality at the sound of something hitting your window. Blinking, you looked around for the fly swatter. "I swear that stupid hummingbird needs to learn that it can't fly through windows."

You grabbed the swatter and walked up to your window and pulled back the cuttings. But what you thought was your reoccurring, headbanging, window smashing hummingbird was really a small pebble. You stood there a moment to watch two more little rocks it the glass before you peeked over the threshold and down below.

Your heart stopped seeing Spencer smiling up at you, one hand poised to throw another pebble as the other hand held at least ten more. You raised a brow as you slowly opened your window, leaning out. Thankfully it wasn't even dark yet so you could clearly see he had showered and dressed in nicer clothes, almost like he was planning on going somewhere.

"Um, can I help you?"

Spencer smiled wider, nearly cracking your stoically confused expression. "Hopefully. I'm looking for a beautiful woman to come with me to the local fair."

You couldn't stop your mouth falling open slightly. "What...uh I'll ask around. She doesn't happen to go by Juliet does she, oh Romeo?"

You couldn't help it, this was an entirely teasable situation, despite your heart beating hard enough you were sure he could hear it from all the way down there. Spencer dropped his pebbles and brushed his hands against his jacket.

"Mmm as beautiful as that name is, the meaning behind it is far too tragic. (Y/n) sounds just right though."

That made you crack a smile. "Well (Y/n) just got home and needs to desperately change."

Spencer shrugged, stuffing his hands into his pockets. "She looks good to me. But I can wait."

You rolled your eyes though you couldn't shake your smile. "I'll be down in ten."

After shutting the window you turned around and squealed, pumped your fists, and did a little dance. Once you collected yourself after your much-needed little celebration of your impromptu date, you rushed into the bathroom and took the fastest shower you had ever taken in your life.

~~~~~
Spencer couldn't stop looking at you as the two of you walked through the busy throng of fairgoers, the sounds and smells of the festivities adding to the excitement of being out with you. You looked so adorable all wide eyed and smiling.
You grabbed hhis hand, yanking him out of his thoughts of you to drag him over to a booth where they were selling jewelry and sunglasses. Without hesitation, you grabbed a set of sunglasses tinted purple and really round. Spencer didn't protest when you placed them on his nose. In fact, he posed for you, looking off into the distance.
"Oh, Spence, these are so perfect for you. Grow your hair out and you'd be a true hippy."
Spencer tried to bite back a smile as he looked down at you with a raised brow. "Hey, I thought I was already a hippy. I change for no one."
Your eyes got wide and suddenly Spencer became very nervous. "Don't move, I have to take a picture."
"Oh no please, don't. If Morgan finds it he won't let me live it down."
"Oh boo hoo." You pulled out your phone and smiled at him. "Now smile."
So Spencer did, making a few crazy faces too. But then he started laughing, placing his hand on the camera. "Alright paparazzi, your turn."
At that, your eyes grew wide and you nearly ran but Spencer was quicker. He hooked his arm around yours and pucked your phone out of your hands, holding you to him as he flipped the camera around and smiled.
"Come on Spencer
"Say cheese," he called as he started taking pictures.
You laughed and went along with it making funny faces and grabbing props to wear. Spencer looked at you as he continued to snap pictures, his smile never leaving his face. Then, he got the sudden urge to kiss you. So that's what he did. Next pose he leaned in and kissed your cheek.
You froze and spencer cursed, worried he had ruined the moment. But when he opened his eyes he suddenly noticed it wasn't your cheek he was kissing, but your lips. You had gotten the same idea and turned at the same time, resulting in you being lip-locked.
Both of you waited for a few beats before stepping away, your eyes wide. Spencer rubbed the back of his neck and you itched your nose. The two of you glanced at each other then burst out into nervous laughter, either of you saying anything as you put the props away. But as you turned to leave, Spencer bought the round glasses for him and a set of reflective aviators for you.
Spencer wasn't sure what just happened, but he liked it and had hoped you did too. And hopefully, you wouldn't let it run the date. But for the rest of the evening, you acted as if it didn't happen, though he caught you looking at him with a soft smile every once and a while. He would smile back and the feeling of kissing you would return.
But it wasn't until after getting off the Farris ride and he was shaken to the core did Spencer come to a very important decision. While up in the large contraption that could break at any moment you could tell he was visibly scared. He didn't want you to feel bad about going up there alone so he sucked it up and went with you. But you weren't dumb so the whole time you held his hand and spoke to him to take his mind off the situation. Then, once on the ground again, you leaned up and kissed his cheek, smiling proudly.
"Thank you for going on that with me."
Right then and there as he watched you walk off to watch a street performer do some magic tricks, Spencer decided he wanted you as his girlfriend. Badly.
~~~~~

You watched in awe as the magician made cards look like they were floating and disappearing and reappearing. He pulled coins out of spectators' ears and called the right cards people picked. You looked up to see what Spencer thought only to see him looking down at you with a wistful smile. You raised a brow and nodded to the magician.

"You think you can teach that guy a few tricks."

Spencer looked at the performer and smirked. "Hmmm, maybe. wait here."

You gasped as Spencer Reid, the shyest man around strangers walked through the crowd and up to the man grabbing his attention and whispering something in his ear. The performer smiled and nodded before stepping back, gesturing to the supplies he had.

"Ladies and gents, we have a learning magician here who would like to impress a little lady. Can we show him some support."

The crowd went wild and you laughed, your cheeks growing warm. Thankful he didn't single you out, you watched with a bit of hesitation as he started to do some simple magic tricks. They were ones you had seen before; pen through a dollar bill, pulling his finger off his hand, eating his eye and popping it back in. He would mess up on purpose and make everyone laugh. He even did a few animal balloons. You oohed and awed with the crowd, smiling like a fool.

Then he looked up, right at you and smiled wide. He glanced around the crowd and spoke to them for the first time.

"I would like to ask for a volunteer, please."

Several hands went up and you laughed nervously knowing that none of those hands could be picked. Sure enough, Spencer looked right at you and smiled wide. You swallowed hard and shook your head, stepping forward.

"You are so dead if you embarrass me," you whispered under your breath as you neared him.

Spencer's brows rose but his smile didn't falter. "Says the woman who works with agents who find murderers."

"I've been taking notes." You winked.

Spencer smiled wider. "Can I have your hand please?"

You reached out and he placed a stack of cards face down in the middle of your palm.

"Now, think of a card. It's color, suit, and value."

You nodded, looking around bashfully. "I thought you didn't like card tricks."

"I'll know after this act," Spencer replied. Only then did you notice he was a bit off. Nervous even.

He took the deck off your hand save for one card. He nodded to you, smiling sheepishly. You looked down and quickly turned it over. Sure enough, it was your card, but something was attached to it.

You looked at Spencer and he just shrugged, his eyes never leaving yours. You looked down at the card and carefully pried the piece of paper taped to it. On the other side of the paper were three words that you read out loud.

Be my girlfriend?

Underneath it was two boxes, spaced for you to check yes or no.

You looked up at Spencer then around at the crowd. They all held their breath as you read it out to them. Then they all freaked out, oohing and aweing, calling out for you to say yes, some saying no.

You didn't look at Spencer as you walked over to the magician and asked for a pen. He smiled, gave you one and turned so you could use his back. With one swift mark, you sealed your fate.

You turned back to Spencer and let out a breath. Walking up to him, you slapped the paper against your leg and shook your head.

"I told you not to embarrass me." You handed it to him.

Spencer didn't know where to look first, at you or at the paper. But as soon as you reached out he took the paper and slowly opened it. You shrugged and laughed nervously.

"I can't believe you-"

But you didn't get to finish. Instead, your lips were occupied by Spencer's. He enveloped you in his arms and kissed you so soundly you nearly moaned. As the crowd went wild, you emerged yourself in all things, Spencer. His smell, his touch, his body, and his lips pressed against yours. You smiled into the kiss as you started to feel all giddy inside.

Spencer pulled back only to kiss your cheek. "I promise to embarrass you all the time."

You laughed out loud, full of every bit of happiness you could ever feel knowing that this man you trusted with your life and heart was yours.

"Please do. especially if it ends with kisses."

"I don't see why they can't."

You smiled wide as you looked him in the face, taking it all in. "Thank you for taking me to the fair."

"Anytime." Spencer laughed, smiling as wide as you. "Thank you for saying yes."

"Anytime." You winked then giggled and reached up on your toes and kissed him, holding him close. You don't think you could ever get sick of magic tricks and the sparks it erupted in your heart.

Two uploads to make up for the lack of them. Hope you are all doing well! Love ya!
