Ill-advised

Ok Wattpad, if you could stop being a butt everytime I want to publish this, that would be great...

You push the stop button in your elevator, leaning a hand on one of the rails as it came to a standstill. You closed your eyes and let out a shaky breath. Your head was pounding and you wanted to be sure to have yourself calm and collected before you delved into the next case Hotch so rudely woke you up for.

Taking one last fortifying breath, you pushed the elevator to go, the doors opening soon after. JJ and Emily were coming out of the other one, meeting you in the hall.

"Hey girl, how are you feeling?" JJ asked, her belly swollen with her third child.

You shook your head, resting a kind hand on her shoulder. "You shouldn't be asking me that, I should be asking you. Are you sure you want to be here?"

JJ laughed as Emily opened the door to the BAU bull pin, answering for her pregnant friend. "She took down a dognapper last night so I'd say she is."

Your eyes widened only to close them when a sneeze came on, our head turning away from the expecting mother. You shook your head and sniffed, smiling. "Wow, JJ, I'm honestly not surprised. You have a dog now?"

JJ shook her head. "No, it was our neighbor's. And it wasn't really a dognapping," she waved her hand at Emily who rolled her eyes, "some dumb teen friends of the son wanted to mess with him by taking the dog. I'm not sure what is more embarrassing, flattening the leader of the pack or having the title of the "neighborhood dog watcher"."

All three of you laughed, but you had to stop short, your chest getting tight causing you to cough rather violently. You swayed on your feet from the force of your lungs trying to kill you no doubt. Emily reached out, holding you steady as JJ rushed, more like shuffled to get you a glass of water. The clicking of heals entering the room was loud enough for you to hear over your coughing, letting you know that another one joined your audience.

"My God, I have heard lawn mowers sound better than you," Penelope chorused

"Great. We have a pregnant ninja and  the walking plague."

You were mistaken. Two new audience members. You took a sip of water, nodding to JJ in thanks. Once you got your throat cleared you looked through slightly watered eyes at Penelope and Rossi, their faces pinched in identical worry. You raised your glass and smiled weakly.

"Come greet me at your own risk," your voice sounded horse already.

Penelope lifted her hands, crossing her first fingers into a cross. Rossi chuckled, nodding.

"Noted. Do I need to tell Hotch you'll be out of this one?"

You downed the rest of the glass, handing it to Emily as you nodded to JJ, not taking your eyes off Rossi. "I can't let this one get all the glory at the same time building a human, while I just have a silly cold."

Rossi shrugged as he headed for the conference room. "That's one reason, I suppose."

Emily nodded. "I think it's reason number two, a specific boy being reason number one."

Penelope gave you a knowing look, but before you could say anything,  the glass doors opened and Morgan stepped through. He looked right at you as he spoke.

"Spencer will meet us on the jet." Then he looked at the others, ignoring our glare, not at all liking the fact you were being attacked for wanting to stay and do your job. "Boy Genious and I ran into Hotch on the way here and he had me come up and get the rest of you. We are needed ASAP. Big Mama, Hotch await's your beautiful face."

"You got it, babe." Penelope clicked off, her hands raised in farewell. "See your faces on the screen in the sky!"

The rest of you collected your stuff, Morgan filling you all in with what he knew about the case.

"Looks like this unsub is a woman abductor, but it also looks like there might be a second unsub who takes them and kills them."

"Where is this one?" Emily asked, catching your elbow expertly as you tottered into the elevator, your head pounding.

"New Mexico. At least that's where the last victim was found," Morgan answered pushing the button taking them to the jet.

"Great," you groaned, rubbing your forehead, "I hate when they cross state lines."

"Personally, I hate when they kill, period," JJ said, causing everyone to laugh nervously.

"True, true," you nodded, regretting the movement instantly but you didn't show it.

Due to the loud engines, conversation paused as you followed the others out of the elevator. Hotch was sitting by one of the windows, the young doctor sitting across from him. The rest of you rushed into the jet, putting away your bags and taking your seats as the conversation started up again.

"He must be looking for his next victim as we speak," Rossi stated, taking a seat on one of the couches, pulling out the file.

You were struggling with your bag into one of the storage bins as Morgan replied to Rossi with something you couldn't catch. You were about to give up when a pair of arms came around you, reaching up to catch your bag and place it into the bin easily.

You leaned your head against one a dividing wall, closing your eyes, whispering under your breath. "I seriously wouldn't mind being his next victim right about now."

Spencer's hand landed on your shoulder, gently turning you around to face him. You peered up into his face, surprised to see it so full of worry.

"Why would you say that? Are you alright?"

You opened your mouth to answer but the jet crew started to put up the boarding ramp. Emily walked over, nodding to the rest of the team.

"We're about to take off." Then she glanced between you and Spencer, her eyes looking at the doctor pointedly as she gestured to you. "Take care of her. She's insistent on staying on the case, despite looking like death."

You stuck your tongue out at her, rolling your eyes. "Thanks. Feeling the love here."

Emily raised her brows, her eyes full of caring laughter. "You are going to feel a lot worse if you aren't careful."

"It's ok Emily, I'm sure if (Y/n) feels healthy enough to be here, she will be alright." Spencer's hand on your shoulder tightened slightly before moving down to the small of your back.

Emily all but snorted, her lips matching her laughing eyes. "Alright. Sounds good, Spencer." She nodded and turned back to the group. You didn't miss her wink, hoping with all hope that Spencer did.

You looked up at him, your eyebrows pinched as you gazed at him. "Thank you, Spencer."

Spencer looked down at you, nodding. "Of course. It doesn't do the human mind and body any good, especially when sick, to have one's decisions be treated poorly.  The negative connotation of the situation leads to hindering an ill person from feeling better, seeing as how most illnesses can be regulated by emotion alone. However, you do feel a bit warm." He gently led you to one of the couches where he sat down, gently pulling you down with him.

You shrugged your shoulders. "I think I know what you mean. But yeah, I think the fever came on when I arrived."

"You can always go home, it's not too late to stop the jet."

The jet lurched forward, taxing around the runway. You let out a weak laugh, shaking your head as you leaned back, closing your eyes.

"Thank's, Spence, but it looks like I'm with you guys on this one."

The rest of the group talked about the case, keeping their voices somewhat low for your sake. Though your eyes were closed and you were resting on the couch, your body inching closer and closer to Spencer's, you were paying attention, adding comments and looking at the files when necessary.

They decided that it was all one unsub that was capturing the woman, rapes only a few of them, but kills them all. They assumed he would either be someone in a high business or political position or a service worker, such as in the electric, plumbing, and gas.

However, something about this case nearly seemed too easy, too predictable. But your mind didn't let you delve deeper into your therapy as you soon fell asleep, your head coming to rest on Spencer's shoulder with ease, fitting comfortably.

You were woken with a gentle rub on your arm and a soft voice near your ear. "(Y/n), we landed."

You opened your eyes but then immediately groaned. Blinking rapidly and looking around slowly, you were reminded of where you were and what you were doing. You looked down at the blanket around you then at the man sitting next to you whose arm was around you. Spencer smiled kindly down at you, a corner of his lips lifting ever so slightly.

"How was your nap?"

You closed your eyes and yawned, nodding slowly. "Alight, I guess. Better than I have slept in the past three nights, that's for sure."

Spencer nodded, gently getting up, reaching out to help you up as well. You looked at your hands in his as he helped you up. You then watched him as he grabbed your bag and went with you out of the jet, the other's already a ways down the runway to the cars waiting to take the BAU to the most recent victim's discovery spot. You looked back at Spencer as he came up next to you, a hand on the small of your back again.

"Um, Spencer, are you alright?"

Spencer didn't look down at you and took a few steps before answering, letting you know you caught the genius man off guard. "Yeah, I'm alright."

"Okay, but you are so..." you moved your hands about in a weird gesture, "so touchy."

Spencer looked down at you, his hand falling away from your back. "Sorry."

You shook your head. "No, no, it's alright, it's just...not like you."

"I'm just worried about you. That's all. Usually, when one is sick they either like to be left alone or be in constant contact with someone. I figured you were of the latter group."

You nearly laughed, giving him a small smile. "Huh, I never thought of it that way. What are you?"

"Surprisingly, I can go either way."

You shook your head, the two of you arriving at the cars. "Actually, I don't find that surprising at all."

Spener gave you a small smile in return, opening one of the back doors for you, letting you have a back row of seats all to yourself as he took shotgun.

You all arrived at the site and gathered as much evidence as you could. You tried to focus but you started to cough more, your chest feeling tight. But you were able to point out small things, like how the last few victims have had adhesive residue as well as bruises on their arms and legs, meaning they were held with tape somewhere. That lead the group to investigate a lot of suspicious holding places for abductors.

But the night was falling and the hotel bed waiting for you sounded like heaven. Thankfully the rest of the crew laid off on babying you around, seeing that you were in fact still well enough to perform your duties. Spencer was always close by though, just in case you needed something, or almost run into a door. Thankfully he was the only to have noticed that and was able to direct you out of the immovable object's way before you gave yourself a much bigger headache.

Hotch handed out keys, telling the group who was sleeping with who. "I will room with Rossi, Spencer with Morgan-"

Morgan groaned, "Every time."

Spencer rolled his eyes but smiled as he took his key.

"JJ, you will get your own room and Emily you will be sharing with coughaholic here." Hotch gave you a sad smile, handing you your key. "Are you sure you won't need anything?"

"So glad to see my illness brings out the jester in you Hotch." You shook your head, sniffing. "Nothing more than what I already picked up at the drug store. Thanks though."

Hotch nodded. "Right." He looked at the others. "See you all at the station at eight."

The boys all parted to one end of the hall, Spencer looking at you with raised brows as he slowly walked away. You laughed lightly, shooing him off with your hand. You could tell he was starting to grow out his facial hair. The fact that excited you willed you to urge him off to his room even more. You must be getting really sick.

"Go on, I'll be fine."

You were about to go into your and Emily's shared room but JJ stopped you with a hand. You turned over your shoulder to see both Emily and JJ giving you knowing looks. You rolled your eyes.

"Grow up. Nothing will ever happen between us."

Emily crossed her arms over her chest. "Right. Like I haven't heard that before."

JJ patted her swollen belly. "I'm living proof."

The three of you couldn't help but laugh. But then you started coughing again. You tried to get the key in the door but Emily plucked it from your hands.

"Sorry sicko, not gonna happen."

You let out a dejected huff of air. "And where am I to sleep, the lobby?"

JJ shook her head, sticking her key in your hand. "I asked Hotch and used my baby as an excuse to get my own room. But I had a feeling you would want a place to yourself."

"Oh." You took the key, moving to the room next door. "Thank you."

Emily chuckled. "I'm glad you didn't fight that."

You nodded weakly, smiling. "Yeah, I'm just ready to sleep, I don't care where."

"Well, it's not exactly only for your sake," JJ said, clicking her new room with Emily, open.

You shook your head, opening your door and weakly pushing it open. "I don't care why. Thank you all the same."

You dragged your stuff in and was about to let the door shut behind you when you heard Emily call out after you. "No boys after midnight!"

You couldn't help but bust out laughing, remembering all the other nights Emily had yelled that at you when the two of you were roommates when training together before she delved deep into the Interpol stuff. Being a few years older than you, she easily took on the role of big sister, and lovingly so. One night you had a tutor over and the two of you had fallen asleep studying (the two of you were at different ends of the small table, mind you), a "cute" sight she walked in on, as she said. Since then she always called that out when leaving you for a trip or whatnot.

Once you calmed down, you threw back a few more decongestants, kicked off your shoes and flopped on the bed, remembering nothing after that.
