Cade quietly walked out of the ward. He needed some air.

Mia and Leo also left as some Doctors came to move the body for an autopsy.

Cade entered his office and sat. Different thoughts filled his mind. The woman who just died, His wedding coming up soon with a lady whom he just met, His Ex-girlfriend whom he was forced to break up with now working at the same place as him.

He was depressed. He knew it. He hasn't felt like this for a long while.

"Yo bro!"

Chloe's sudden appearance drifted him away from his thoughts. He didn't know when she entered.

"You told me to always knock before entering. I knocked and there was no reply. I had no choice but to enter. How are you?" She asked, stroking his curly hair with her index finger.

"I'm not in the mood, Chloe." His thick, calm voice replied coldly.

"I'm not here to disturb too. I heard your patient died."

"So?"

"So? I'm here to comfort you."

Cade suddenly thought of something.

"Chloe?" He called.

"Hmm?"

"You still see thriller and crime movies?"

"Sure."

"Be useful for this once, share your ideas."
He pulled her closer to him.

"According to the little you've learned from those movies, who do you think could do this?" He muttered.

"The killer is either after the woman..... Or you. Chloe replied, sounding serious for the first time.

"Me?"

"I don't know, but in most cases, it is usually so. In a Hospital, to get to you, they kill your patients."

Cade thought widely.
What could I have done to make someone after me?
I can't hurt a soul!

"Who brought the woman though?" Chloe asked.

"He told me he was her son....." He swallowed and continued.

"But now, it's obvious he isn't."

"I'm happy you realized that yourself. It's not just your job and sleep always. You need to learn more about other things, experience has always been the best teacher." Chloe explained, dropping her bag on his table.

"This is a bad experience."

"It should, so you'll be prepared for next time."

"There would never be a next time, Chloe, don't talk like that."

"Alright, alright, she raised her hands. I was joking anyway. By the way, dad should be here soon. He stopped to see a friend outside."

"Dad is coming here?"

"I am here." Prof Williams replied as he entered.

Oh my.

"Dad, he seems depressed but he's the strong type," Chloe said.

Good afternoon, Dad. Cade greeted.

"I heard you lost a patient."

Cade nodded.

After closing the door, Prof. Williams walked towards his son and patted him.

I hope you're set for the meeting?" He asked, adjusting his blue suede blazers.

"Which meeting?" Chloe questioned.

"There's always a meeting whenever TMC loses a patient. So you didn't know why I left home and you followed me."

Chloe winked at her Dad. He smirked

Cade's mind bubbled with different thoughts.

What if Dad sees Mia?
Why didn't I think about this earlier? I'm so fucked up!

"You're scared aren't you? Don't be, son. Fear would only make them think you're not sure of this job. They'll think I just gave it to you because you're my son.
I know you're worth this job."

Cade couldn't grab anything he said. His thoughts were how to prevent Mia and his father from meeting.

"It's only normal to be sad but trust me, you'll be fine."

"Thanks, Dad. He feigned a smile, still bothered.

"It's almost 1 pm. Let's move to the board room. Other staff must've been waiting.
Chloe, you can wait here or.... "

"No, dad I'll just hang around downstairs."

"Fine, let's go, Cade.
He nodded and followed like a baby

Mia was also preparing for the meeting. She felt bad for Cade though she held a grudge against him. But she couldn't deny the fact that she wasn't worried.
She adjusted her dress and wore her coat. She then headed to the elevator.

The board room was on the 15th floor which was also the last floor.

As the elevator opened,
She met some patients and Doctors inside. She bowed in courtesy and joined them.

She soon got down.
She didn't know the board room and the atmosphere wasn't helping. It was tense.

Everywhere was quiet. That floor was the most beautiful among the 15 floors of that building. It was painted Gold. It wasn't for patients. It looked like a VIP suite. Mia wandered like a lost sheep for about ten minutes. Until the receptionist was forced to talk to her.

"Any problem ma'am?"
"Are you looking for someone?"

"Hmm ... no, a place."

"Where ma'am?"

"The  boardroom."

"Oh. It's over there." She pointed to a black glass door behind her.

"Thank you."

"My pleasure."

She walked to the door and opened it. It was still some minutes to 1 and the board room was almost full. It wasn't like board rooms she'd seen in movies.

This is so big, shouldn't be referred to as a board room. She said to herself.

There was a division for the heads of departments and the management team. It was in the upper part of the room.

The doctors were to sit at the lower part.
She scanned the room and found a seat at the back. She headed there, not minding people's stares.

I'll tell her everything today. I'll explain everything that happened and tell her Dad owns this hospital. That way, she'll be able to dodge him. I need to act fast.
Cade's mind was in commotion. He saw Mia as she entered. His heart skipped a beat.

He looked at his Dad, he was on the stage already, about to make his speech but he was talking to his secretary.

Bingo!

He stood up and headed to where Mia stood.

Prof Williams' secretary, Dr. Posh has been his best friend and secretary since he built the hospital.

"It's been long I saw you. You only come for meetings like this. Dr. Posh said.

"Don't mind me. There's really nothing to do here. I hope Cade is doing well?

"Yes.. he is..."

Prof Williams smiled and nodded.
"We'll talk better after this."

They shook hands and he left.

"The meeting would commence now. Everyone should please maintain a perfect decorum." Prof Williams announced.

Cade walked up to Mia.

"Can we talk, please?" He asked, looking stressed and tired, she pitied him.

"We can, later, but the meeting is starting now," Mia replied, wondering what it could be.

"No, this is urgent. I have to...."
He was about to grab her hands when he heard.

"Cade?"  It was his dad's voice.
That voice was familiar. Mia turned to look who it was but Cade pulled her to himself.

Her heart raced.

"So I'll be fast, My Dad works..."

"Mia Standford?? Prof Williams suddenly called in an angry tone.

Prof Williams wasn't the type to call people by their full names so it attracted people.

Mia pushed Cade slightly aside and turned. She then saw the man she never wished to see again all her life.

"Prof Williams??" She said in shock.

So yeah, thanks for reading. I went to school so I couldn't update this book for a very long time but I'm back now lovies❤️
