Chapter 6
(I will skip days on the island at random intervals. And keep in mind that some of them are not completely done, just the idea is there. Plus, I can add more chapters later on, if you want.)
•day 5•
I was still weaving the third basket when I heard Jax wake up.
He saw me and froze. He then realized his surroundings and remembered what had happened that night. He sighed and calmly got off of the makeshift mat.
"Good morning." I said, looking up at him, with a somewhat sleepy smile on my face.
He nodded in response. He looked slightly shocked to see all of the fruit I collected from the last two nights.
"Take one. I can go get more." I offered.
He grabbed a peach and took a bite into it. He smiled a small smile, his eyes filled with happiness.
"Thanks." He said, peach juice dripped down from his chin.
"No problem. I was happy to find fruit." I said, giving him a smile.
He grabbed his makeshift spear and wadded off into the ocean.
He threw it down with such accuracy, that it managed to hit a fish first try.
I gave him a big smile as he came back out.
"You make fire?" He asked, curiously, and I shook my head no.
He sighed and took out a little lighter, and he lit a tiny fire in the small fire pit he made earlier, without hesitation.
He set the fish over the fire and went to go get more, and I just watched the fish cook.
Marry woke up with a shout, making me and Jax jump. I ran to her and gave her a hug, knowing exactly what was wrong.
She sniffled, wiping her nose on her sleeve.
"Shh, It's ok." I said, comforting her.
She looked up and smiled at me. Jax came out of the ocean and ruffled Marry's hair to show his form of comforting.
"Thanks." She said, happy again.
"No problem." I smiled at Marry.
Jax continued to cook the fish, and managed to put some fish bits in a basket I made, storing them for later.
I watched as she fell asleep, and soon after, I did to, exhausted from staying up all night.
I felt like something was watching us, hidden in the tree line.
