Chapter 4
*time skip* •day 3•
I opened my eyes to the glare of the setting sun in my eyes. I slowly lifted my arm to protect my eyes. When I finally could see, I saw that Marry and Jax were sitting around a fire, eating a fish. My stomach growled loudly, letting Marry know I was awake.
"Lizabeth!" She shouted, running over and giving me a hug.
"Hi Marry. How long was I out for?" I asked, my head spinning.
"Three days." Marry said.
"Marry, can I have some water? My head is spinning." I asked, my head pounding in my skull.
"Yea, I'll be right back." She said, getting up and running to Jax. He handed her a thermos and she brought it back to me.
"Here you go!" She said, happily.
I drank it all in one gulp. I smiled, sheepishly once it was empty.
"Sorry." I said, upset that I drank all of the water.
"Its no big deal. We can make more using this trick Jax taught me. C'mon, we made food." She said, helping me up.
I wobbled over to the fire and sat down.
Jax handed me the fish and I took a bite of it. It was really nice to have warm food.
"Hey Jax, do you have the bags?" I asked him.
He nodded his head and brought them out.
"Great." I said, reaching in my bag. I pulled out my emergency flashlight.
"What happened when I was out?" I asked.
"Nothing much. The first day we slept through. The second day, some stuff floated to the shore and we took it. The third day, we started to make a camp." Marry said, pointing at the makeshift mats lying there.
"That's awesome. Who build this?" I asked.
"Me." Jax said, reaching into his pocket and taking out his pocket knife. He started to sharpen the spear he used for fishing.
"Jax said that he used to go camping all the time." Marry said, smiling at Jax.
"What happened after we hit the water?" Jax asked, using more words than I'd expected him to.
"Um...well, you kinda started to sink. I think you lost consciousness when you hit the water. So, I swam down and pulled you up. I put you on my back and started to swim as best as I could. I grabbed Marry's hand, and we swam away before the explosion happened. Then Marry was trying to help me carry you, but she almost drowned herself. She grabbed onto my arm, so I had to carry you both to the shore. Once I got there, I fell and couldn't move. Marry got up and you know the rest." I said, explaining what happened step by step.
"Hm." He said, absorbing the information.
"But we're still alive, and together." Marry said, happily.
I nodded and smiled.
"Ok, Let's prepare for the night." I said, reaching into my bag.
I pulled out my 2 jackets and handed one to Marry.
"Here you go." I said, handing it to her.
She smiled and walked to one of the mats. She laid down and pulled the jacket over her. It covered her whole body.
I handed Jax the other one and he refused to take it.
"I insist." I stated, being somewhat stern.
He grumbled something and took the jacket. His eyes looked grateful. He crawled onto one of the mats and pulled the jacket over him as well. It covered his torso well enough.
I walked over and sat besides Marry. I stroked her matted, strawberry blonde hair.
"Hey Lizabeth, can you sing me a lullaby." She asked, half asleep.
"Sure, Marry." I said, smiling.

I looked to see Marry asleep. I turned around, and to my surprise, saw Jax asleep.
"Sweet dreams, everybody." I said to them, smiling at there peaceful faces.
