Chapter 24
•day 43• (D-Day)
I woke up to see Marry and Jax, still next to me, but sitting up.
"Good morning, Liz." Marry said, cheerfully.
I smiled up at her and grinned.
"Morning, Marry." I said, and as I was smiling at her, the door opened to revile Dr. Kim.
"Hello, my children!" She said, with her sickly sweet voice.
I put my hand protectively over Marry and Jax put his hand over us both.
"Tabatha, sugar, won't you come with me?" She asked, and Tabatha got up.
Thomas watched her go, fear in his eyes.
Tabatha gave him a small wave over the shoulder as she walked out, the door slamming shut behind her.
Thomas began to cry, and Marry went over and gave him a hug.
'This is it. This is when we'll die. Starting with Tabitha.' I thought, sadly.
Jax pulled me in for a hug and I hugged him back, trying to hold back my own tears.
Tomas grabbed at his hair. "Why her first!" He shouted, stressing.
Marry looked over. "It's ok, Tommy. We'll all be ok. Liz's calm, so everything will be ok." She said, smiling.
I cursed internally and put on my calmest face, as I smiled. "Everything will be ok." I said, faking confidence.
Tomas nodded, relaxing slightly.
The door opened after that, and Tabatha was dragged in, her eyes wide and unfocused.
Tomas grabbed for her, but hot dragged off as well, looking at us like a silent plea.
The door slammed shut, as Jax hung his head slightly.
Tabatha then puked her guts out, as her cheat started to convulse.
Marry shrieked in fear, as I covered her eyes, feeling queasy myself.
Jax held us tighter, as he put his head on mine.
Tabatha started to change, her skin turning blackish, and her mouth changing. It was horrifying, as she let out one, painfully animalistic scream, before falling silent and still.
Tabatha was dead.
I felt tears well up in my eyes, as I hugged Marry tighter.
Jax's hands started to shake.
Marry started to cry, silently. "Is she sleeping or dead?" She asked.
I was about to answer her, but then the door opened again, and Tomas came out, frothing at the mouth, as he was thrown onto a bed, twitching and flailing around. He coughed, spitting out froth.
"Marry, it's your turn." Dr. Kim said.
"Not without us. We all go." I said, agressively.
"Fine, guards, wheel the bed to the experiment room." Dr. Kim said, a distasteful look in her eyes.
Marry smiled slightly. "I'm glad I'm not doing this alone." She said, hugging us both.
"Me too." I whisper.
Jax nods in agreement, his eyes shining with fear.
