Chapter 7 ✅
We followed the sheriff to my brother's house. We all got to the door. The sheriff knocked. We heard the knob turn, and we looked toward the door. We saw an older-looking woman standing there. She said, "Hello, Carl." She then looks at us, "Mr. Schmong, welcome to the doctor's home. The kids are sleeping. How about we sit on the front porch and talk." She steps outside and heads to one of the swings on the porch. "Carl, thanks for bringing them over. I can take it from here."
A few minutes later, the sheriff leaves. Gordan then looks at Martha, "Now, what did you want to say to us without the sheriff being here?"
"I am Martha. I talked to Pam earlier about the cabins. I know it wasn't the Mertz's boys who killed your uncle. They were there when he was killed, though. The hunters will be looking for the wrong wolf. I was up on the hill overlooking the valley they were in. I was gathering some flowers to make items for the gift shop. Your uncle took the boys to help them with their first shift."
My grandfather asked, "If it wasn't the wolf from the paper, then who was it?"
"There had been three other wolves who showed up. Vincent called one of them Jedidiah." Martha kept talking, "the one wolf laughed and said, "Guess it's true. I do look a lot like my granddad. But they call me Jed and not Jedidiah."
Grandad saw our confused faces and said, "Jed was kicked out of the pack and later killed. Vincent and I were the ones who killed him, but we never heard of him having pups. He was cruel."
I looked at Grandad, "who was Jedidiah?"
My dad replied, "he was my older brother. He was supposed to become alpha, but he was a bad apple. Dad referred to him as a narcissist. When Dad bypassed him and named me the alpha, he started attacking and killing pack members. It took Vincent and Dad to attack him together to kill him. Then, dad removed him from our family tree. He was ashamed of what Jedidiah had become."
Martha replied, "The wolf that killed him was a rouge called Jed. His father went by JJ, and his grandfather was Jedidiah. He took great pride in telling Vincent this. It was the grandson who killed Vincent. Jed killed Vincent. Jed's wolf looks remarkably like Byran's wolf. However, that is not what I wanted to discuss with you, Alphas, and Councilman Schmong."
My grandfather said, "I think it would be easier just to call us all by our first name. I am Marcus. My older son, Thomas, and my younger son, Gordon. My grandson and present alpha Victor. Who was named after his great uncle Victor? Who is my brother?" He pointed to each of us as we sat down on various seats on the porch. "We have in the past day discovered my brother has passed. He has been helping over 30k of wolves have pups. Once speaking with your granddaughter, I discovered he had also been helping other supernaturals. My brother has three pups of his own. Who he never told us about. Plus, my other son had a pup before his death. It was his grand pup, according to you, that killed my brother and not one of his creations. Will we want to know what else he has been doing?"
Martha smiled and sighed, "I tried for years to get him to tell you about his pups. He, however, felt that would cause problems. He planned to introduce you to them on their 16th birthday. He would bring them to the pack to be blessed and sponsored by the pack."
"Do you know his plans for all those wolves he created?"
"Yes, and this is why I had you sit out here. I did not want the pups to wake up if you started yelling about what he did and why."
"You know what he did, and you know we will be upset about it," Gordon stated.
"When he approached me about his idea, I was unsure. This was after he lost his mate 27 years ago." We discussed his idea in detail. Plus, he brought in elves and gnomes."
"He accidentally discovered a portal that led to another universe. He knew many elves, fairies, and gnomes were tired of living in hiding. He struck a deal with them." She pulled out a photo and handed it to Victor. He looked at it and gave it to his family. This picture shows the layout of the area he explored in the other dimension. The mermaids were asked to work on mapping out the rest of the world. The elves explored the lands and mapped out them. They made the various borders. The gnomes and trolls worked to build and maintain the buildings."
The little buildings are where he had the packhouse and villages made. One packhouse was made more prominent. He planned to make this alpha supreme. He is the wolf that everyone thinks killed Victor." She hands Victor the second photo. This is the packhouse he had made." It was a sizeable blue-roof building. It was stoned and two or three floors high. The windows were arched. "They were all designed the same, but various sizes depend on the territory's size. He had planned to have his test-tube alphas start in the new dimension. Then, slowly move packs who wanted to stop hiding in the other houses in that area.
Gordon yelled, "What the hell was Uncle Vic thinking? He could have gone to the council, and we could have helped?"
Martha replied, "Your help would have been taking charge. He made it so that no wolf knew how to get to this new dimension until it was ready. He had it planned out. The council would only go once the regime had been established. They would only answer to the king. They could only be advisors. Also, the laws of that dimension were the werewolf counsel would have to retire by age 75. Every pack would only have one councilman represent it. It would be someone voted in by the pack. He would ensure larger packs would no longer boss around the smaller packs."
Gordon yelled again, "Who would decide who stayed on council when they came over? What was he thinking!"
Martha gave him a condescending look, "Most of the council would automatically be declared elders since they are older than 75. Then, the packs that still had more than one representative would vote. If they had a split vote, it would be the majority who carried the vote. If it were a tie, they would be given 48 hours to agree or break it, or their representative would be tossed out and a new one be appointed. He was making it so that the pack would have to work together to get their vote. Then, when the last member retired at 75, the pack would vote for a replacement. He made the law state when the council person turned 74. They would vote within one month of their birthday for their replacement. Then, that person would join and be trained by their relief.
"He is replanning our setup? What if we get there and want to change it?"
Martha laughed, "Victor thought of that also. He said the moon goddess herself showed him this place. He had her bless the place, and it is also charmed. The laws are in place. There will be consequences. He said anyone who comes to the new dimension must take a blood oath."
Marcus gasped, "Blood oath? I thought that had been abandoned. Haven't seen one in over twenty years.."
Martha replied, "I think only a handful had been done."
Victor said, "I remember reading about blood oaths in school, but never in recent years."
Marcus replied, "Before Jedidiah was killed, we swore blood oath with your father and his siblings. It is an oath taken on a full moon. We use the elements to take it to our Goddess Selina. We swore we would always do what was best for the wolves, even if others might disagree with our actions. Then, we all cut the palms of our hands. Our blood ran like water down our palm and dripped into a fire. The fire turned a blood-red color, and smoke billowed into the air. Our oath was delivered to the goddess. When the fire burned down and became ash, we took these ashes to the garden. We mixed it in with fertilizer and placed it in the park. It was returned to the earth. Then, once it was returned to the planet, it rained. We knew the goddess received our oath. The following day, that area was covered with purple roses. Those roses are still part of the garden.
However, Jedidiah refused to do the blood oath. The next full moon, Dad declared I would be the next Alpha. He told Jebidiah it was because he rejected the blood oath requested by the moon goddess that he would not be the next alpha. That is when Jedidiah went feral and began attacking Dad and pack members. Dad then declared his rouge. Jedidiah ran off but kept killing innocent pack members, including pups in our packs and others. This is when Victor and I made our second blood oath. We swore to take down my son since he was hurting innocent. He was dead by the fourth full moon. After that, we hadn't done another blood oath."
Thomas and Gordon asked simultaneously, "What happens if you break a blood oath?"
"We were told the person who breaks it would die with a horrifying death. This was according to my great grandfather, who said he saw a black dark fog descend on the wolf who broke his blood oath. He and other pack members could hear an eerie scream that chilled even the most brave. When the fog lifted, the body had this look of absolute horror on its expression. He was dead. The tales state that it is satan's minions who take them away. They end up in the river of Styx and never in the garden with the moon goddess."
Victor says, "I thought the river of Styx was Greek mythology and not real."
Marcus said, "Just like fairies, werewolves, elves, mermaids, and vampires are mythical and not real?"
Martha said, "It's getting late. We will have a busy day tomorrow. You got some pups to meet. Plus, you are viewing your brother. Your cottages are down the road," she pointed to the left. "It's only about a five-minute drive. I plan to be here tomorrow at about 10:00 a.m. for brunch. Contact your family and have them head this way. This area is safe. The elves have agreed to guard the areas. I will let Doc know you will be there to view your brother and get questions answered at 8:00 a.m. So that you know he is a fairy, and he will make sure no one will know your uncle is a werewolf." She then stands up and walks inside. She shuts and locks the door behind her."
