34. Bandages Can't Heal All the Wounds
A/N: IM SORRY IM SORRY I CAN'T WRITE ANGST FOR MY LIFE IM SORRY AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
False sheathed her sword as she entered her cybertown base. It was oddly quiet. The always-present sound of Techno's potato farm wasn't there either.
False continued into her large base. Maybe he's sleeping. She thought. "Techno?" False called. No response.
Where could he be? False wondered. She checked the small arena, where sometimes they practiced swordplay, and then the armor room. The pigman was nowhere to be found.
False arrived at Techno's bedroom. She knocked on the door, not wanting to disturb Techno if he was there, but there was no answer. "Techno?" She called again, but the room was silent.
False turned the knob on the door and entered. Nothing. Could he be at the Eaglestar's base? She thought, but her eye caught on a piece of paper, so out of place on top of Techno's red blanket.
False picked up the piece of paper. Smoothing it out, she began to read the text.
False's hand dropped, her mouth open. She stared at the paper, disbelieving. Her eyes scanned over the words again. What did this mean? What was happening? Why-why is Techno gone? I'll harm everyone I've ever loved. False read. What had happened?
False's breath quickened. So this was it. Techno is gone.
Don't look for me.
False crumpled the paper in her hand with determination. I will look for you, Techno. Because you are my friend. And I know that you'll never harm me, or anyone you love. She thought. Tightening her sword on her belt, False left her base.
And began her journey.

Tommy stared at Phil as he landed in the entrance of the castle base. He cranked his head around, trying to spot Grian and Tubbo. When he couldn't, Tommy turned his gaze back to Phil.
The avian avoided eye contact.
Tommy's heart sank. "Phil?" He whispered.
Phil's fists tightened. "Tom-Tommy, I'm sorry." He whispered, voice cracked.
Tommy knew what he meant. "Phil- Grian- Tubbo?"
Phil swallowed hard. "Gone."
Tommy stood still, shocked.
They were gone. Grian and Tubbo, gone. In the grasps of Dream. Of Dream!
Tommy turned and ran. Up the stairs, down the hallways, until he found his room. Tommy collapsed onto the bed, his breath harsh. Tubbo hadn't escaped. And Grian- Grian was now with him.
No no no no. Tommy thought desperately. They're gone. Gone.
Tommy screamed into his pillow. "Why?!" He cried. "Why, god did you have to take away the people I loved the most!"
Images of Tubbo, smiling, holding a bee, sitting next to him on the bench with the sun shining down on them, appeared in his mind. Tommy bit his lip as he tried not to cry. He buried his head in his pillow as he tried to control his shaking body. He felt the pillow turn wet below him, and Tommy turned, exposing his face to the air above.
Something soft touched his hand. Tommy turned his head to see a single gray feather on his bed. He felt pain like Dream's axe had dug into his heart. He knew what this was. Grian's feather. It shone iridescent in the sunlight, which was something Phil's feathers didn't do. Tommy felt another wave of wracking sobs approach him, and he clutched Grian's feather tight to his chest as he cried.
Big G. The cheerful hermit, so ever patient with Tommy. Now, with Dream.
Tommy sobbed as another memory came back to him.
I will always be with you, Tommy.
"You promised!" Tommy yelled. To whom, he didn't know. But it felt good. "You promised you'd stay with me!"
He cursed, screaming insults at whoever he could think of. "Fuck you, Dream!" Tommy yelled. "Fuck you!"
And when his anger drained out, Tommy only held the feather close and cried. They are all gone. He thought. Everyone I've ever loved, taken by Dream. Who's next? Phil, or Wilbur? He cried desperately and fell into a shallow sleep.
"Tommy! Tommy!" Grian screamed, his hands held out for the boy. Blood coated the avian, beautiful gray feathers torn from his wings.
"Tommy!" Tubbo yelled from behind him. "Tommy, help me!"
Tommy turned to see Tubbo, as bloody as Grian was. His brown eyes were weak, glistening with tears. "Tommy!" He shouted.
"Hang on, I'm coming!" Tommy yelled back as he ran towards Tubbo.
A figure blocked his path. Dream, wearing his traditional green hoodie and mask. He held a netherite axe in his hand, and it was glistening with blood. "So, Tommy, who are you going to save?" Dream asked, twirling the axe in his hands.
"Both of them!" Tommy screamed, trying to push past Dream.
"But what if... you could only save one?" Dream whispered, leaning closer to Tommy.
Tommy felt tears gathering in his eyes. "I'll save both." He said.
"But you can't." Dream laughed. "So, Tommy, who do you choose to die? Grian or Tubbo?" He asked.
"Neither!" Tommy said. He wouldn't let either of them die.
"Well Tommy, only two lives can leave this room." Dream said, smirking.
Tommy's heart clenched as he realized what this meant. If Tubbo and Grian weren't going to die, there was only one person left who could... and it wasn't Dream. "Do it, then." Tommy snarled. He didn't care anymore. Too many people had abandoned him, taken by Dream. He didn't care about himself anymore. The only thing he wanted was for his friends to survive. "Do it, bitch." He growled.
"If you insist, Tommy." Dream said, and as the axe came down on his neck, Tommy's vision flashed black.
Tommy woke up in cold sweat, shivering. He clutched Grian's feather to his chest and threw his blanket over himself, curling up in a ball under the covers. Tommy cried, hiding his tears as he thought of Tubbo, of Grian, who were both in danger because of him. All because he wouldn't hand over the discs.
I'll get you back, Tubbo, Grian. Tommy thought to himself. Whatever it takes.
Even if it's my life.
