20. It's Not Lurking Shadows, It's A Lurking Goat & Ram

A/N: nope you don't get to know who the traitor is or where tubbo went 😏

TW: more swearing (cause... jschlatt, you know?)

New Characters:

jschlatt (Schlatt): Able to transform into a ram - dark brown pelt with black horns

DocM77 (Doc): Able to transform into a goat - gray pelt with white horns

A single black figure appeared on the top of a sand dune. It blinked against the strong sunlight and raced down the hill, it's hooves kicking up sand in its wake. The animal's black pelt had bits of sand encrusted in it, and it's shiny dark brown horns were covered in a layer of dust.

The ram skidded to a stop beside a pond of water and lapped hungrily at the liquid. He had been travelling for days through the desert, upon receiving a message from a friend. I hope I'm near. I'm tired of this fucking desert. The ram thought as He stood up, snout dripping water.

The ram looked down, where a simple necklace held a compass, pointing south-west. Well, at least there's water. The ram thought dryly as he padded off again, this time at the slower pace to rest his hooves.

It wasn't long until the ram reached the end of the desert. A wide savannah opened up in front of him, but the ram was surprised to see that the compass didn't want him to go straight across it. Instead, it pointed him more and more south the more he travelled into the savannah. Shrugging, the ram followed.

The compass led him to the edge of the jungle. The ram blinked in surprise, followed by weariness. He wasn't fit for the vines and trees of the jungle. He was more accustomed to wide grasslands, like plains and savannas. Glancing back, the black-pelted animal wished he could go back to the places with wider areas for him to run in, but he had to follow the compass.

Disgruntled, the ram tested his hooves down on the greenery. It felt too soft for him, like the ground could break away at any moment. Before he could go any further, a figure slid out of the shadows. The ram jumped back, surprised, before backing into a charging stance, prepared to defend himself.

"Don't charge, my friend." An accented voice said. "I sent you the letter. Forgot me already?"

The ram relaxed as he recognized the voice. Yes, it was the person who had sent him the letter. The ram lowered his horns, then paused, deciding what he should do next.

"Perhaps you'd like to change forms?" The man asked.

The ram nodded, and closing his eyes, morphed into another man. He had a black suit, very businesslike, while the same dark brown horns protruded from either side of his head. His dark brown eyes opened, glinting with slyness and intelligence.

"Hello, Schlatt." The other man, the one in the jungle, said, smiling.

"Hello, Doc." Schlatt, who was the ram, replied. "You've changed." He said, noticing the clothes of the other man as he stepped out of the shadows, allowing a clearer view.

Doc was wearing a white robe over his creeper-green skin. His synetic arm shone with a dangerous red light, matching the red eyepatch over his black eyes. The pair of blue jeans, casually worn, gave the man a friendlier, less 'i'm a mad scientist' look.

Doc shrugged. "A little, I guess. But everyone changes."

"How right you are, my friend." Schlatt agreed. "How's your goat form?" He asked as the two walked deeper into the jungle.

"Very nice." Doc replied. "The horns are as thick as yours. Not as curly, though." He said, casting a side grin at Schlatt.

"I should hope not." Schlatt replied goodheartedly. "So, why exactly am I here?" He suddenly asked, remembering the letter. "You said that you needed help with something."

"Indeed I do." Doc replied. "You may or may know, but there's a war going on."

Schlatt tilted his head with interest. "Is there?"

"Mmm hm." Doc said. "And you know, it's a war."

Schlatt smiled, knowing where this was going, but motioned for Doc to go on.

He did. "And who would I be if I didn't get involved?" Doc asked.

Schlatt grinned a wide grin. "Very true." He said. "So we get involved. Ahhhh, I can't wait to meet my favorite green boy again. Dream is part of this, isn't he?" Schlatt asked.

"Of course." Doc said confidently. "And so is Tommy."

"Ahhhh, my dear friend Tommy." Schlatt laughed. "Ohh, this is going to be fun, isn't it?" He smiled.

"Imagine." Doc murmured. "A fourth side to the war. The chaos it would bring."

"Those motherfuckers better be prepared." Schlatt said. When he saw Doc flinch, he sighed. "Still not over the swearing thing?" He asked. "Ugh. Sorry." Schlatt apologized when Doc nodded.

"So, are we ready?" Doc asked.

"Yep." Schlatt said. "You bet I'll fuck those bitches over with chaos, or my name isn't jschlatt." He said.

Doc flinched, and Schlatt rolled his eyes before muttering a 'sorry'.

The two friends shook hands, both smiling softly, one with mischief and the other with pure craziness before they both morphed. The ram nodded once to the gray goat before racing off into the savannah, eager to get away from the shadow-filled jungle.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, the stars representing Aries flashed brightly in the night sky.
