ONCE IN A BLUE MOON

Chan got home later that day with Yeol who kept complaining about what had taken him so long.

What made matters worse is that Hyun also needed a ride and all the way home, he was crying about how his own twin brother left him at school without a word.

He didn't even send a text message.

There was silence though, as soon as Hyun dropped off.

"So, what were you up to?" Yeol asked.

"None of your business,"  Chan responded with his eyes on the road.

"Dude.. whatever, I'm just going to come out and say it. I know you like Baek and I know you're pissed off because Kris made a move before you." Yeol regretted his outburst when Chan suddenly hit the breaks jerking them both forward before their seat belts pulled them back.

"WHAT?" Chan gave Yeol a shocked look.

"Don't even try to deny it. I saw the way you glared at that box of chocolates. Also you've been in a pissed mood since last night which is also after Kris's confession. I don't need to be a genius to know you're crushing on Baek," said Yeol with a smirk.

Chan just silently got the car going again.

"So, what are you going to do about it?" asked Yeol.

"I'm not sure," Chan said with a sigh.

"Kris is already sending gifts and flowers which means you're falling behind. You need to come up with something extra cool to take the lead. Baek doesn't look like a guy who is easily convinced but I saw he liked the gesture. Who wouldn't like the attention. I know I would. Kris is good looking too so it's just a matter of time before Baek agrees on a date," Yeol said and he noticed the way Chan's grip tightened on the steering wheel.

"My advice is just make sure you aren't get friend zoned before it's too late," Yeol said and he walked out of the car leaving Chan alone with his thoughts as his job was done.

It was lunch time when the gang settled at their usual table.

For once YeolHyun weren't trying to steal each others oxygen.

But Baek and Chan were strangely silent as they focused on their separate books. 

They usually discussed things everyone else couldn't understand.

"Damn what happened to Kris" Kai said and soon everyone except Baek looked up to see that the tall boy had a very visible black eye.

"Baek, do you have anything to do with this?" Hyun asked with a smirk.

"I don't know what you are talking about," Baek said before he excused himself and headed to the library.

"Please take this back and don't ever send me a gift again," Baek said.

"I'm just showing you how I feel about you. Is it that you don't like chocolates. I can get you something you like. Just tell me," Kris said.

"You don't know anything about me and..."

"I want to know more about you. Just go out with me once. Give me a chance and judge me after that," Kris said.

"I don't know...actually no i..." but before Baek could say another word, he felt lips on his own.

It took a few seconds for him to understand what was happening and when it clicked he immediately pushed the taller boy before punching him on the face.

"What the hell is wrong with you!! That was my first kiss you idiot!!" Baek said before kicking him between the legs.

Kris lay on the ground groaning in pain as Baek screamed profanities in Spanish.

"Hijo de puta! Mierda! Que te den, Kris!"

"I'm sorry," Kris said but Baek was fuming.

"If you had given me the time to finish what I was saying you would know that my answer is NO and I LIKE SOMEONE ELSE so BACK OFF!!" Baek said before rushing out of the school.

He couldn't believe Kris had kissed him when there was only one person he wanted to kiss and the person was too oblivious to his feelings.

Baek went straight to the library and went straight into the jungle of shelves to find a book to distract him from his thoughts.

He was still angry Kris had kissed him and felt like he should have beat him up even more.

"Need help?" Baek looked up to see Chan standing close to him with his hands behind his back.

He couldn't help the smile that crept on his face.

"Sure. I'm not looking for anything specific though," Baek responded.

"Oh, okay. It means you want a new subject you haven't delved into that will give you a new challenge. I just have the thing for you," Chan said as he revealed a gift bag from his back and passed it to Baek.

Baek grinned from ear to ear as he pulled out a thick text book from the bag.

"Oh my gosh, Chan. Wow..."

"I remembered you talking about how you wanted to get into astrophysics and I thought why not get you the most knowledgeable book on that," Chan said.

"Thank you so much," Baek said as he packed the book back in the bag and placed it by the side before giving Chan a hug.

With his hands wrapped around Chan's shoulders he moved back but Chan wrapped his arms around his waist and pulled him closer.

"I also...need to tell you something," Chan said feeling nervous.

"What's that?" Baek asked.

"I...I like you...and I wanted to take things slow and get to know each other and get close...but then Kris just popped out of nowhere and ruined my plan...and now you like someone else and..." but before he could blabber even more he felt lips on his own.

"Shut up, you idiot! You're the person I like. How many more hints do you want me to throw in your direction" Ba?ek said with a smile and Chan couldn't help but kiss him and soon the nerds were literally making out with Baek pinned against a book shelf.

"This is definitely how my first kiss should have gone," Baek said.

"What do you mean?"

"Kris stole my first kiss yesterday."

"HE DID WHAT? HE IS SO DEAD WHEN I GET MY HANDS ON HIM"

"Shhhhhhhh...."

Chan and Baek got kicked out of the library. Something what would only happen once in a blue moon.
