Kari waited patiently for Yugi as she waited by the bleachers.

"Kari!"

Yugi shouted getting her attention as he ran towards her.

In a flash, Yugi and Yami changed places as they got closer to her. Once they were face to face, Yami was about to pull Kari into a kiss but was quickly halted by Yugi.

"You can't just come out of the puzzle and start kissing someone, it's inappropriate"

Yugi said lecturing to his best friend who stood in a ghostly figure next to him. Yami looked to Yugi in confusion.

"What do you mean? Kari and I are together"

"No, we're not"

Kari answered. Yami and Yugi looked to Kari as she explained herself.

"Look, about that kiss during the weekend meant nothing. I mean I don't even like you in that way, how can you expect me to like you if you don't even know yourself"

She said rubbing her arm gently.

Yami frown in thought before speaking up.

"But you wanted it, I confessed that I love you"

"You were suppose to love Tea"

"Why?"

"Because she likes you"

"And I can't follow my own heart? Because my heart chooses you"

Yami said seriously causing Kari's heart to soar at those words but she needed to sacrifice her love for her friendship with Tea.

I was so afraid

"Well I'm sorry, I don't feel the same way"

"That can not be, you were happy after we kissed"

"Because you caught me by surprise, what was I suppose to do?"

Kari asked with a sigh.

Yami refused to believe what she was saying, Kari looked like she was having a hard time believing on what she's saying herself.

"Tell me how you feel?"

He asked. Kari took a deep breath to speak.

"I feel like we shouldn't do this anymore, for Tea's sake"

And if only they could feel it too

"If Tea really value your friendship then it shouldn't bother her on who you're with....wait...is that it..."

He said causing Kari to take a step back as Yami quickly put the pieces together.

"You like me, but you don't want to be with me if it's gonna make Tea upset, is that it?"

Yami asked. Yugi was stunned and looked to Kari for an answer as well.

"Look Yami, if you like me the way you say you do then do me this favor, be with Tea"

"No, Tea is a dear friend and nothing more than that but as for you, I want something more than just friendship"

"Please, you have to understand it's not going to work between us"

"Not unless you give me a chance"

"Yugi talk to the Pharaoh"

She said to her ghostly friend who decided to stay quiet.

"Well, I would say, don't re-friend someone that has tried to destroy your character, money or relationship"

Yami said causing Kari to slightly glare at him.

"Stop, don't be saying such things about my friend"

"Well look at what Tea is making you do. Sacrificing your happiness just because you believe she deserves to be with me when all I want is to be with you, but I guess I have no say either correct?"

He said causing Kari to sadly looked down.

He said slightly angry.

"I would rather have no part in anyone's life except for Yugi's"

Kari sadly looked to him.

"No, please don't shut me out or anyone out..."

"Goodbye Kari"

He said as he changed places with Yugi as he resided back into the puzzle.

"Yami"

Kari said sadly. Yugi frown as he looked down at the puzzle and then back to Kari.

"You know, you said you always sacrifice your happiness to make others happy. I'd say it's time to start being selfish. Never sacrifice your own happiness. You also have to understand Yami isn't mad at you, he's mad at the situation you're in"

He said as he walked away leaving Kari to her thoughts.

After School

Yugi finally got home from school when his grandpa called him into the living room.

"Yes Grandpa?"

Yugi asked.

"There's a mail for you from KaibaCorp"

He said handing him the envelope. Yu-Gi-Oh frown as he opened it up and was surprise that Kaiba is holding a Dueling Tournament Ball and he was allowed to bring a date.

"So you'll be taking Tea, I assume?"

Grandpa asked curiously. Yugi smiled as he shook his head.

"No, I was thinking about taking Kari"

He said as he heading up to his room to dial Kari's number.

"Whether Yami and Kari likes this or not, they have to deal with this together"

He said to himself as the phone answer.

"Kari?"

"Hey Yugi what's up?"

"This weekend, KaibaCorp is holding a Tournament Duel Ball, are you interested in going?"

He asked.

"With you or Yami?"

She asked curiously.

"Believe it or not, you and Yami need to settle this, so I think this would be a great opportunity for the both of you"

He said honestly. Kari took in a deep breathe.

"Okay, thank you"

She said quietly before hanging up. Yugi smiled knowing she was excited about it.

"I don't know what you're planning Yugi but I am not going to that ball"

Yami said as he materialize beside Yugi who simply smirks at him.

"Whatever you say, Yami"
