Date
A/N: Despite the fact I don't like Tea, but in this story she is gonna be a true friend and help my OC out. Enjoy!
"You have to tell me all about it"
Kari said excitedly for her friend Tea knowing for a fact this is always what she wanted a date out with the Pharaoh.
"I wouldn't be too excited about it"
Tea said sadly.
"What do you mean?"
Kari asked sadly.
Flashback:
"Ready or not, spirit, this is where you take over"
Yugi said changing places with Yami. Yami looked around in surprise to see Tea only and immediately began yelling at the puzzle.
"Hey! Yugi! I'm not - you can't - this isn't a duel!"
He shouted and immediately looked up to see Tea.
"Hello"
End of Flashback
"It's like he didn't really want to go out with me, I mean I know Yugi asked me to help him out but what can I do"
She said with a sigh. Kari thought for a moment.
"Well what did you guys do?"
She asked curiously as they continued walking down the halls together in the school building.
"Well, we went to get a smoothie at the coffee shop, then we headed to this arcade where I played the Dance Revolution, one on one with this one guy who didn't get a clue that I wasn't interested in him"
"Wow"
"And then we headed to the pier where the guy still didn't leave us alone until Yami beat him in a duel. Finally we headed to the history museum where we met this lady who knew a bit about Yami's past"
"Wait...so Yami like rescued you in a way?"
She asked causing Tea to blush.
"Something like that"
"Wow, I am so jealous of you. Are you guys planning to go out again anytime soon?"
She asked. Tea sadly shook his head.
"I don't think he's interested in dating or probably isn't interested in me"
"Come on, don't give up hope"
"Well well well ladies, care for me to take you out?"
A voice asked cutting into the conversation. Kari and Tea groaned in annoyance.
"Oh great, did they let you out of the facility already, Ushio?"
"Now now, my little light don't say such things"
Ushio said with a grin
"Hey!"
Kari shouted as she was roughly pushed up against the lockers causing her to drop her book as he placed one hand against the wall above her head.
"Leave her alone!"
Tea shouted.
"Ugh, don't you have something better to do?"
Kari said turning her head away from the tall man.
"Not at the moment"
He said grabbing her chin forcing her to look at him.
"Leave me alone!"
Kari shouted.
"Leave the lady alone"
Said a baritone voice.
"Mind your business"
Ushio growled as he turned around to face and froze in fear at Yami who was glaring at him harshly. Ushio quickly let Kari go as he began to run away in fear.
"Get away from me, you freak!"
He yelled running through the halls. Kari quickly bent down to get her books but Yami helped himself to it before she got a chance. Yami smiled at her kindly as he handed her books over. Kari was about to walk away to leave Yami and Tea alone to talk but froze when Yami called her name.
"Kari? Are you okay?"
He asked in concern. Kari turn around to face him with a smile.
"No biggie, just a small bruising on my back but other than that I'm perfectly fine. Thank you"
She said as she was about to walk away but Yami again stopped her.
"I would feel much comfortable if I walk you home...just in case that bully shows up again"
He said as he waited for her response. Kari froze no knowing what to say before looking between Tea and Yami.
"Why don't you walk us two home, instead? Besides I live closer to the school"
She said leaving no room for a debate and missing the crestfallen face on Yami when she rejected on going alone with him. Tea smiled.
"That sounds like a good idea"
Tea said with a smile before looking to Yami who looked to her with slight boredom.
"Alright then"
Yami said in agreement as he walked the girls to the exit of the school.
"Kari, allow me to carry your books, after all you are hurt"
He offered with a kind smile. Kari smiled in gratitude as she handed her books to Yami and quickly grabbed Tea's books handing them to Yami as well.
"There now, you're a true gentlemen Yami"
She said happily causing Yami to slightly frown.
"I offered to carry your books only"
He said. Tea looked between her two friends not wanting a argument to break out because of books and immediately took hers.
"It's okay, I'll carry mine"
She said with a wave of her hand. Kari became confused, not wanting to get in between her friends and immediately grabbed her books as well.
"Well, it was fun while it lasted"
She said with a laugh. Yami sadly looked to Kari and immediately put on a poker face so she wouldn't see the hurt in his eyes.
"So how's Yugi?"
Kari asked.
"He's fine"
He answered wanting to keep his answers short.
"Are you okay?"
Tea asked to Yami.
"I'm fine"
He said.
"Look if this is about the date then..."
Tea began to say. Yami gasp as Tea mentions the date in front of Kari.
"There was no date"
Yami said immediately and sternly cut Tea off.
"Now hold on a second, you don't have to be that harsh on her"
Kari said in the protectiveness of her best friend. Yami stopped walking and looked at Kari.
"You're right, I'm sorry"
He said.
"Don't apologize to me, apologize to Tea"
She said. Yami looked between Tea and Kari before shaking his head.
"I...I need time to think"
He said before changing places with Yugi who was just as confused as Tea and Kari.
"The poor guy's mind is going in circles"
Kari said. Yugi and Tea soon dropped Kari at her home before heading down another pathway. Tea sadly looked to the ground.
"I'm sorry Yugi, we tried"
She said in defeat.
"Hmmm, what if Kari was to help Yami out next?"
He suggested. Tea looked at Yugi in surprise.
"Like a date?"
"No, like friends hanging out"
He said with a smile.
"I think that could work"
She said proudly.
