"Nice job, you two!" I heard Vector say over the intercom inside the shuttle, as I looked at the speaker, along with the wolf and the other members who were involved with the mission.

"Just remember, we're not finished with the mission yet, rookies." I heard Knuckles say over my communicator. "We still gotta head to the rebuilt Death Egg, rescue Sonic, and return to the resistance base with Sonic in one piece."

I nod and went "Mm-hm!" in response after hearing that.

"That aside, Commander...Do you have anymore info from your spy that we need to know about?" I asked through my communicator, as I felt a bit curious.

"I don't think so...Aside from the robots, alarms, and what not, I think you'll be fine.

The only thing I want you guys to do is get some rest for the time being, so you'll be ready." Knuckles replies as I heard him shuffling through some papers in the background.

"Okay, thanks! Keep us posted for anymore info that we need to hear about." I say before smiling.

"No can do, rookie..." Knuckles went before he and I signed off.

Then I sighed as I leaned back.

As I closed my eyes for a minute, I suddenly remembered the moment of when I grabbed the nerdy wolf's hand because of how scared I felt earlier.

Especially when that train came in.

I got the chills after remembering that part.

I literally thought for sure that the wolf and I were gonna get hit and killed by the train.

That legit scared the living shit out of me.

But, that aside, at least we're both okay, alive and safe, if it weren't for him and the grappling hook.

I smiled as I looked at the wolf, who was blushing a little over what happened earlier.

He looks so cute. Even when he blushes, it's still cute.

"Wait, what am I thinking?! There's no way a boy would fall in love with me! No one would want to date me anyways, no matter how much I'd change myself if I tried!" I thought to myself before shaking my head, trying to get the thought out.

Then I sighed again as I opened my eyes and looked at the ceiling.

"Now's not the time to be thinking about love, when we have a war going on and a mission that will happen soon!" I thought to myself again as I slapped myself in the face to knock some sense into me.

After I did that, the wolf noticed what I was doing before giving me a combination of confusion and a questioning look.

"Don't mind me..." I say as I sweat dropped a little bit. " I was knocking some sense into myself, that's all. Just dumb thoughts running in my head."

The wolf nodded in understanding before lying down as he started to feel sleepy until he dozed off.

I lied down next to him before relaxing once I took his glasses off and putted them inside his utility belt, as I did the same, only I putted my pair of glasses in my jacket pockets instead.

Before I dozed off, I could've sworn that I felt someone place their arm around me because I snuggled in close, feeling warmth by them, while someone else put a blanket over our bodies to keep us warm.

For the next several hours, I slept peacefully, feeling safe and comfortable, until I heard a girl giggling.

"Hmm? Wha?" I went, before I woke up.

What I woke up to, was the nerdy wolf boy, with his arm resting on my shoulder.

My face turned red in embarrassment as I looked at the fox girl who was giggling at me, before I quickly got the wolf's arm off of my shoulder, as I immediately sat up.

"Well, well, well...Look who's awake." The fox girl giggles as she looked at me.

"You two lovebirds looked so cute when you're asleep together." She continued as I pulled my glasses out of my jacket pocket.
