Dot was the new girl in biology class, she had just moved from Idaho. She had stayed up the entire night before and was plumb tuckered out. She went to her seat, sat down, and the teacher handed out the test. They had been studying the heart. "Oh, no!" Dot thought. "I completely forgot that the test was today! Huh, I'm going to fail!" But Dot was so sleepy she didn't care. She laid her head down gently on her desk, thinking the teacher would not notice. "Dot, Dot!" the teacher said, coming over to her desk, shaking her a bit. "It's time to get up. Come on...you're drooling all over your test." But Dot did not want to get up and face that horrible test.

She was dreaming. "Hello" she said, in her dream. No answer, "Hello!" she said, a little bit louder. Finally, someone answered, "Yes?" A white blood cell appeared before her very eyes. "Who...who are you?" Dot stammered frightened. "Why, I'm Crystal." "Where am I?" Dot demanded. "Why, you're in your body." "Then that must mean..." Dot looked down in horror, staggering back saying, "I'm a red blood cell!" she said, shocked. "I've got to get out of here! Do you know the way?" "Oh, yes, I'll take you...come on" Crystal signaled Dot to follow her.

They passed through the superior vena cava, which Crystal explained was the start of the heart which was "deoxygenated" or had "no oxygen" in it. They then passed through the Right Atrium, the Tricuspid Valve, the Right Ventricle, the Pulmonary Valve, and Pulmonary Arteries. "Um, Crystal" Dot said, with extreme impatience. "What?" she said concerned. "When are you going to actually help me get out of here?" Dot said in an enraged voice. "Cool your jets, Dot. We're getting there." "Ok?" Dot said, a hint of doubt in her voice. "Ok, now follow me" Crystal said and Dot followed, keeping her distance. They hustled through the beginning of the "oxygenated" system of the heart consisting of the Pulmonary Veins, the Left Atrium, the Bicuspid Valve, the Left Ventricle, the Aortic Valve, and the Aorta. In no time, Dot could see light up ahead. "Well, this is it!" Crystal announced, turning to Dot. "Bye Crystal" Dot said, a sense of pride flowed through her veins. "Oh, by the way, I'm Dot!" she quickly said. "It was nice to meet you Dot" Crystal said. She leaned over to Dot, and whispered "I'll never forget you!" "I'll never forget you, either...Crystal"

"Dot, Dot...wake up!" "Come on, Dot!" Dot aroused to find the teacher standing angrily over her desk. "Dot!" the teacher said sharply. "I'm...I'm sorry, I was staying up so late last night working on homework. That I..." "Dot it's okay, I'm not mad" the teacher said. "...and the test..." Dot said. "The test is tomorrow!" the teacher said quickly. "Oh, tomorrow!" a sense of relief came over Dot.
