Chapter 34: Killing Me

3rd Person Pov:
After paying the taxi driver the right amount of money, Heidi and George stood in front of Jerome Horwitz Elementary. "It still looks the same since I left," George mumbled, hesitantly. He would have never expected to be here again. This elementary was both the worst and best years of his life. "Maybe this is a bad idea." He spoke as he turned to look at Heidi. "Don't you dare say that. We're here to find out the mystery about Billy, right? We can't give up so easily." Heidi replied as she put her hands at her hips. "Well, yes. Yes, you're right. Okay, let's do this." George spoke, nodding his head slowly. He was still having second thoughts but, he needed to know more about Billy. He wanted to stop this concern toward Harold once and for all. Heidi smiled slightly and walked toward the doors as George slowly stumbled his way over. Once Heidi opened the doors, George entered immediately. He wanted to get through this as quick as possible. "Did you call Edith about this visit?" Heidi asked, looking around the empty school. "Yes, she told me to look for her in the cafeteria," George replied, playing with his tie. Just as he said that George immediately walked toward the cafeteria. The school hasn't changed one bit so, he assumed that the way to the cafeteria was still the same. Heidi was surprised that George remembered anything about this school. She thought that George thinks of this school as a bad memory that needs to be gone. She followed afterward, their footsteps echoing in the empty hallways of the school. They finally reached the cafeteria and opened the doors then, they entered. George noticed nothing changed. The tables and seats were the same. The color of the walls. Everything was the same.

"Edith! It's me! George Beard and Heidi Hutchins!" George yelled out. He blushed slightly as he realized he was about to say Harold's name and not Heidi's. It's been a while since he heard their names together in a sentence. "I'll be there in a sec!" Edith exclaimed from the kitchen. George knew what Edith was doing at this time. She would be throwing away any leftovers from today's horrible lunch. It's amazing that Edith could even survive that horrible smell as George hadn't gotten used to it. "What did you have today?" George asked, pinching his nose.

"Uh, I think it was like mac and cheese made with expired dairies, smelly vegetables, and expired milk cartons," Heidi replied, sighing. "I'm saying 'think' because I never visit the cafeteria during lunch." She explained. She absolutely hated the lunches here and never dared to go in the cafeteria after hearing Harold's experiences in there. So, Heidi resolved to stay in the girl's bathroom stalls for lunch and just wait. "Yep, nothing has changed. Even the lunch menu is the same." George chuckled, remembering back to his time here. Spending his childhood in bad schools had grown on him. His high school was good and he wasn't used to it.

Where were the teachers that yelled at you for not using the correct words on an essay? The principal who would turn into a superhero in his underwear? The lunch ladies who made horrible food? "Hey, guys. I actually thought you were lying when you said you wanted to talk with Mr.Krupp about something." Edith spoke, walking toward the pair. "Yeah well, it's actually something important," Heidi replied. "Is it? Well then, let's go!" Edith responded, walking toward the doors. George and Heidi trailed behind her as they made their way toward the Principal's office.

"Benjamin, I have two students who need to talk with you. One of them is someone who will surprise you." Edith spoke as she knocked on Mr.Krupp's door. "Ugh, fine. Let them in." The reply was loud, clear, and annoyed. "Good luck, you two. You'll need it." Edith whispered and left the two. Heidi hesitantly opened the door and George stood at the doorway. He can't bring himself to take one step in Mr.Krupp's office. "Heidi Hutchins? What are you doing here?" Krupp questioned, confused at her appearance.

"George wants to ask you something," Heidi replied, looking at the doorway. "George?" Krupp questioned once again. Heidi motioned for him to enter and George let out a huge sigh as he entered the office. "I, uh, didn't expect you to be here again. Did they send you here because my detentions are suited for your misbehavior?" Krupp asked. George realized Mr.Krupp was still the same old, sarcastic, and mean principal. "No, surprisingly. I just need to ask you something about 4th grade." George replied, walking toward his desk. "Do you want me to remind you what can't do in school?" Krupp asked.

"What? No! I need to ask you about a student. Harold Hutchins." George responded, sitting in one of the chairs in the room. "What about him? I thought you got over him after 4th grade." Mr.Krupp replied, looking away slightly. Krupp couldn't help but, remember what happened in 4th grade. He was embarrassed to admit it but, he was genuinely concerned about George and Harold. It was one of the reasons that he kept a close eye on Harold and let George be in his office when he felt lonely. He was just concerned.

"When that whole drama started, was there a student named Billy?" George asked. Mr.Krupp stayed silent as he slowly got out his book of students from past years. He flipped through the pages of the book and noticed there was a student named Billy. "Yeah, there was. Billy Lastor. Now that I think about, I don't think that's his last name. He just waltzed into this school like an idiot and he registered himself. There's not a lot of information about him." Mr.Krupp explained, looking at the two students. "But, then. Who is he? When Harold talked with Billy, this all started. What happened? What was said?" George questioned, putting a hand through his hair. "Ugh, this gonna kill me..." George mumbled

"Welcome to the club." Mr.Krupp replied, putting his feet on his desk.
