Chapter 2: Long Time, No See
Melvin's Pov:
I need to get George out of here but, how? "How is Harold here? This is supposed to be a very smart school, right?" George asked me as we stared at the sight of the blonde. "Yes it is but, it seems he had an advantage and managed to be accepted here." I replied, the only thing is that I don't know what advantage he had. The bell rings and which means classes starts. "Uh, good luck in Physics!" He exclaimed as he ran towards his class, it seems he doesn't want to miss his first day of the Junior year. "Good luck in Gym class!" I replied as I waved goodbye and headed towards class. I feel bad for him, I know how much he hates physical education. It might be because of 4th grade since Mr.Meaner was always rough on students. I enter my classroom for Physics and sit down in the front row. Putting my materials needed for this class in on top of my desk while, the rest went under my seat. As the bell rang again to mark the ending of passing time, everyone rushed to sit down. "Good morning, students. Welcome to Physics." The teacher greeted and everyone greeted back to her.
"I am Ms.Rose and today, we have a new student here in school with. You can come out, dear." She explains, I am not used to the teachers being so nice here. Even after 2 years, I am used to the mean and rough teachers from elementary and middle school. I put my head as I keep remembering George's reaction to Harold. They haven't seen each other for quite a while. George looked so shocked and surprised yet, happy. Why was he happy? Why was he happy to see someone that broke his heart? I don't understand that logic. Why does he still like someone that hurt knowing I can give him what he wishes. Harold coming back really has twisted my mind, I want to avoid him as much as possible. I snap back to reality as I heard a few girls giggle and whisper. I put my head up only to see him standing there all flirty and confident. "Hi, my name is Harold Hutchins. Nice to meet ya. Especially boys here." He said but, he mumbled the last part under his breath. I could hear him clearly yet, no one else noticed.
"Well then, you can sit where ever you want. Let's begin class." Ms.Rose said, oblivious to his behavior already. Every teacher is so off guard towards the students. Gosh, I am not letting him talk to George. "Hey, Melvin. Long time, no see." I heard someone say and looked over to see him sitting next to me.
"Same goes to you, Harold." I said and grabbed my pencil to begin taking notes. "Still nerdy as always. I wonder if you are still a tattletale." He whispered so, the teacher wouldn't hear us. "Shut it, Hutchins. Honestly, so immature." I replied, he hasn't changed one bit since I last saw him hanging out with those kids. "Not as immature as my old best friend. How is George?" He asked as he winked at a girl and adjusted his leather jacket. "You leave him, out of this." I said, I don't want him to talk about George. He doesn't even deserve to say his name by now. "Why? You scared that I'll steal his heart?" He responded as he stared at the teacher and I raised my hand immediately. "Yes, Melvin?" She said noticing my hand. "May I use the restroom?" I asked, she nodded and I got up quickly to go to the restroom.
I got to the sink and took off my glasses. I put them aside and turned the faucet on. I poured a bit of water on my face before turning off the faucet. "Why does he have to be insensitive?" I mumbled as I looked into the mirror.
I hate him.
