Chapter 19: Surprise...?

George's Pov:
The warm air surrounded me as I stepped outside. School had just ended for today and I wanted to get a headstart before Melvin could catch up. I looked behind me quickly to see if he was trying to catch up with me. I sighed for a second until I saw him walk from a corner. My eyes widen and I started running back to my apartment, not even bothering to look back to see if he even spotted me. Once I noted that I was far away from the school, I began to walk while looking behind. Suddenly, I felt my foot trip over a crack and I fell forward onto the pavement of the ground. I groaned softly at the impact and slowly sat up. I tried standing up only to flinch at the pain in my leg. "Please, don't tell me I made a hole in my pants." I mumbled as I stood up finally. I wiped the dirt off of my coat and pants before finally looking down. I saw a big hole where my knees were and that's when I saw I scraped my knee badly as it was bleeding a lot. I flinched again as the pain continued to grow in a sort of stinging kind of way. I breathed in and out to try to ignore the pain and get going. I walked with a limp in my knee and stopped every couple of seconds as the pain continued. "I give up, this knee won't give me a break. This day literally can't get worse." I groaned as I sat down on a house's stairs. I put my hands on my face and sighed in frustration. Harold really had to ask someone out in front of me, didn't he? Melvin really wants to who my roommate is so, he could kill him?

"You clearly need my help at this time, don't you?" Someone asked and I uncovered my face to look up. "Oh, Melvin, what are you doing here?" I asked, slowly getting up. "Looking for my best friend who has a big gash on his knee." He replied, lowering down to study the injury. "Seriously, George. Understand that huge scrapes like this can make you ill if you don't treat it immediately." He explained as he got up and put my left arm around his shoulder. He started to walk and I followed his movement.

We finally made it to the apartment complex and made it to my dorm. I realized that he was going to enter my dorm where my roommate also lives. 'Please oh please, tell me he went on that date!' I thought as I opened my door. Melvin sat me on the couch as he looked for a first-aid kit. I noticed how silent the dorm was which meant Harold was with his date. That's great, I guess, now Harold won't have to deal with Melvin and he can forget about me. "Don't focus on the pain while I clean the scrape." My best friend spoke and I nodded.

A piece of cotton was softly dabbed on my knee and I could tell a liquid was on it. I hissed silently and tried to look out the window to see any signs of my roommate. "George, why are you so worried today? Was it because of our sleepover or Harold?" Melvin asked, getting out a bandaid. "I kinda wonder if Harold asked that boy in front of us on purpose," I replied, fiddling with my fingers as the bandaid was applied. "Does he really want to not date me so much to the point where he asks someone in front of me? A person who had a crush on him." I asked.

"Well, as I said, Harold did leave you behind after what happened in Middle School. This wouldn't be a surprise to me, unfortunately." He replied, looking away. "Hey, where is your roommate?" Melvin asked, changing the subject quickly. I sweated a bit as I panicked realizing Harold may return at any minute or is somewhere in this apartment. "Ah, he is working right now!" I exclaimed, getting up. "Well, okay, I'll go to my room and get the things I need for this sleepover. Mind making us some food?" He stated and I nodded with a smile.

I made my way into the kitchen of the dorm as Melvin walked toward the door. "Hey, George! Come here for a second!" Melvin exclaimed and I panicked slightly as I walked over. I softly gasped as I saw who was at the doorway. "Welcome home, Harold." I spoke with a soft chuckle. I'm so screwed no matter with who it is. "George, what's going?" Harold asked, glaring at Melvin. "Melvin, please, go get your stuff while I go deal with my roommate." I stated with a nervous look.

His eyes widen but, nodded as he pushed Harold aside to leave. The door was shut, leaving me and Harold by ourselves for now. "Why is he here?" He asked in an angry tone. "He is just here to check on me and have a sleepover," I replied, hesitating. "Besides, why do you care?" I questioned. "I don't trust him at all since he was literally our tattletale villain in Middle School." Harold replied, putting his hands on his hips.

I was taken back and I glared at him, my arms crossed and my anger over the roof.
