Louis looked at the ground as he walked down the pavement to the next building. Why him? He's had that room to himself since he moved in, this will be his 3rd year of having it alone. Why couldn't they move the snotty rich kid to someone else's dorm?
He sighed to himself, still angry. So much was happening today, so much was getting on his nerves. It seemed like only Zayn and Liam ever understood him, and knew how to make him happy again.
He spotted the building and made his way up to it. He took the stairs up to their room before opening the door. He never had to knock, because they always welcomed him inside anyway.
He slipped into their small living room, already hearing their TV on. He would've thought that they would share a dorm with their own girlfriends, but the boys and girls dorms were separated to avoid unwelcome actions inside the rooms.
"Hey Tomlinson, you're here! We thought you were bailing for a second." Liam laughed a little, along with Zayn who was downing a beer while watching the TV across from them.
Louis smiled and took a seat next to Zayn at the end of their only couch.
"I wouldn't bail on you guys, you're my closest friends." He took a beer for himself too, deciding he needed to take some things off his mind.
They could tell something was bothering him, he wasn't very good at hiding when he was upset. Not with them at least. They've known him for too long to not be able to recognize it.
"So, what held you up? Was it a girl?" Zayn pondered, thinking he was stopped by the girl from the party.
"No, just some trouble going on with freshman and stuff coming in. Sorting out their rooms and all."
Liam nodded, already seeing where this story was going. "Yea, I heard there's a lot of new kids this year. The dorms are getting filled up quick." Zayn agreed, taking a sip of his drink.
"Why so quick? They even put a kid in my room too!" Louis started. Liam smiled a bit. "Great! You've always complained about not having a roommate!" Louis just groaned in annoyance, confusing the boys.
"I wanted a roommate, yes, but not like the rich kid they gave me. I wouldn't doubt that his luggage was filled with the newest Gucci." The boys laughed at that a little. "Be thankful you got someone, Louis. Don't be so hard on him, he's just starting college."
"I say if you don't want little Gucci Jr., then kick him out. No use having a roommate if he's just going to be a bother." Zayn shrugged, focusing back on the TV. Liam tsked at Zayn. "Louis, just talk it out with him. Maybe he has no other room to go to. Besides, he might even share a Gucci watch or two." Liam winked, making the boys laugh before Zayn starting going off on another story.
This is what Louis loved about them. They could be there to listen and laugh about their problems, helping each other out. He wouldn't trade his life out for anyone's. Except maybe Gucci kid, he might debate trading lives with him instead. A nice watch didn't sound too bad.
-
He was making his way back to his apartment, seeing as it was getting late and he had morning classes unlike them. He wasn't ready to face the boy just yet, but he promised Liam he would talk to him.
He didn't promise to be nice about it though.
He walked through the quiet hallways of the building, heading up to his room and opening it up, knowing it would probably be unlocked still.
When he got inside, it was quiet. He assumed the kid left like he told him to. This made it easier though, now he didn't have to talk to him. He was about to turn on the television, but stopped when he heard talking, which meant he hadn't actually left yet.
He started walking to the bedroom, stopping outside to hear the conversation.
"Ni, he already hates me. I didn't even get to explain myself before he told me to leave. Why couldn't I be put in the same room with you?" There was a few seconds of silence before he spoke again. "I can't though, I was put in this room because there wasn't any left. I'm surprised I still got into the university itself."
Louis shifted in his spot as he eavesdropped. It's like when he used to listen to his parents arguing, as he sat in the hall listening to them.
His sisters would be in bed already, but he always stayed up. He used to be quite the night owl. He would sit outside in the dark hallway, picking at the carpet as he would listen to them yelling all night.
But his father never hit her.
They would fight, and argue a lot, but he never once laid his hands on her. He didn't want to hurt the woman he loved. That's why everyone was upset, even her, when they heard the news.
He didn't want his father to leave, he was the closest person he had. He wanted to grow up like him. He cried when he left. They all cried. No one knew he had been so sick..Maybe it was because he overworked, so they could have a nice home and nice things...
That's why he hated his step-father. He treated them horrible. It was a mystery how his mother fell in love with that man, seeing how abusive he was. He was cruel. He didn't want to be like him..
Louis didn't know he was crying until he heard someone next to him.
"Uhm, are you okay? Were you listening..?"
Louis softly wiped his face before looking up at the boy. His hair wasn't as curly as when he first saw him. It looked like he was running his fingers through it all day. His eyes were slightly red too. Was he crying earlier because of him?
"I'm sorry if you heard me. I didn't think that what I said would make you upset.." The boy looked down at his hands, scared to look up. "Sorry..."
Louis didn't like seeing people upset, especially if he caused it. That's why he felt sympathy for the boy, even though he wanted to be angry at him still.
"It's okay, it wasn't because of you. It's something else I was thinking about." Louis explained. The boy looked up at him, still nervous. He sighed, he didn't want the boy to be so afraid of him like he is now.
"So. They put you here because there were no other rooms available?" The boy nodded. "So then, you're telling me that you're going to be staying here then?" The boy nodded again, this time slower, in case Louis got angry at him again.
Louis bit his lip a bit before turning to walk away.
"W-Wait! I can figure something out, if you want. I can even look for a new room in another building. Please don't go complain to them about me.." The boy practically freaked out before Louis could even take two steps. This caused him to turn around and laugh a little, confusing the boy. "Calm down curly, I'm just going to have a shower!" He smiled, making the boy blush in embarrassment. He gestured toward the living room. "You can take a seat if you want, and we'll discuss this when I get out." He stated calmly before heading for the bedroom.
He had grabbed some red sweatpants and a plain white shirt and some trousers before heading for the bathroom. He saw the curly headed boy sitting on the couch quietly. "You can turn on the telly you know, instead of sitting and doing nothing." He then stepped into the bathroom and shut the door, turning the knob to the shower.
After a few minutes being in under the water, he heard the television turn on from the living room, smiling to himself.
-
He was dressed and fixing his wet fringe before leaving the bathroom, throwing his things in a clothes basket and walking into the living room.
He plopped himself down on the other end of the couch, resting his arm on the couch. He watched the show for a couple minutes, seeing it was cartoons, before looking over to the boy.
His eyes were fixated on the TV as he lightly bit his bottom lip in thought. Louis watching him for a couple minutes before speaking up. "I don't recall hearing your name, curly."
The boy let go of his lip and turned his head to face Louis. He seemed surprised at his question before answering. "Harry...Harry Styles."
Louis smiled, happy that he answered instead of cowering again. "Well Mr. Harry Styles, I'm Louis. Louis Tomlinson." Harry smiled a bit, seeming interested in his weird reply.
"So, Harry, tell me something about yourself."
The boy, seemingly confused that Louis was even willing to speak to him, answered quite softly.
"I don't really know what to tell.. I'm 18, and new to the college, obviously. I used to work in a bakery. I'm studying in music, otherwise just taking the normal classes. I'm not as rich as you might think I am, I don't own any Louis Vuitton belts or anything." He smiled when Louis laughed at his last sentence.
"Sad, I thought I was going to get a nice Gucci watch off of you or something." Louis joked, making them both laugh.
They both talked a bit longer. Louis finds Harry to be quiet, and seemingly calm. Quite opposite of himself, actually. Everything the boy said, he said so smoothly, and Louis found himself actually enjoying having a roommate.
Soon, Louis let's out a small yawn. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bore you." Harry apologized. Louis smiled to him. "You didn't bore me, it's just getting late, and lots have happened today, to you too I'm sure. I'm just tired is all."
Harry nodded. "Do you want to head to bed then?" He agreed and stood up to head to the bedroom, while Harry turned off the tv before following in his steps.
Louis immediately fell face first onto his bed, cracking a smile from the younger boy. He turned his head to face him, seeing that he was still standing, and quite awkwardly. He flipped over onto his back and eyed the luggage.
"You know, I hate when space is taken up by useless things," he started, looking up at the boy who seemed to lower his head again. "so why haven't you unpacked yet?"
Harry immediately looked back up and smiled brightly. He thought Louis would kick him out before night. "I'll quickly unpack!" He said cheerfully before taking his things from his bag quickly.
Louis smiled at how happy he became from a simple statement. He grabbed his phone and scrolled through it while he waited for him to finish.
After getting dressed, Harry came back into the room and fell onto his separate bed, still smiling as he looked to his right at Louis. "Thank you for letting me stay here. I honestly thought you'd kick me out for sure."
Louis shook his head. "The rooms are filled, so even if I tried to, you wouldn't go anywhere." He laughed a little, before turning out his light.
Harry smiled and did the same, both getting under their own covers before silence filled the room.
"Oh, and Harry," He was turned away from the boy, so he couldn't see if he was even awake still, until he heard him hum in response. "I don't hate you, like you told your friend. It's too soon to hate you for no reason."
It was quiet again until Harry spoke up. "And Louis, thank you for letting me stay here. I appreciate it."
Louis smiled and rolled his eyes before throwing a pillow behind him, hearing an 'ow!' from the boy. "Stop saying thank you to me so much, it makes me feel weird." They both laughed before Harry said thank you again and throwing the pillow back.
Soon both boys were asleep with the same thought going through their heads.
This was going to be quite the year.

another chapter done, its slightly longer than the last, even though nothing really happened xD
now that harry and louis have both been introduced, it's time to get to the actual writing. this story is going to be a bit cliche, and they start to fancy each other pretty quick, but feelings grow quicker since they see each other all day and live together. thats why this story is going to have some faults and bad things happen to make the story more than just a cliche love story.
anyway, i have lots planned for this book, so please let me know what you think of each chapter :3
