Ugh, my day started out horribly!  I heard from my French teacher that she'll have me retake the class again next year if I don't get my grades up!  The only way to bring it up is with this new group project.  After scanning through the papers, I realized that it was for a group of four to six that was...already assigned?!

Nikki...Zoe (yes!)...Chloe (double yes!)...Jadyn?!

And at that moment, I felt myself mentally spiraling down into depression.  "Hey, Nikki, did you see?" Chloe had skipped over to my desk with Zoe and was beaming.  "We're all together!  And that new girl's going to help us!  So we can get an awesome grade!"

"Right," Zoe winked.  "Besides, this'll be easy!  We'll breeze through this in no time!  Speaking of which," she looked up as a familiar ravenette walked up to us.  "Jadyn!"

"Bonjour, mon amis~" Jadyn smiled.  "I'm glad to be working with you guys.  I hope we can do our best!" she clasped her hands together.

I put on a smile and nodded.  "Right," I noticed the purple notebook in her hands.  Shoot!  I forgot to talk to her about that...but did I really want to admit that I had taken a peek?  I kept my mouth shut about the matter as the three girls continued to excitedly chatter.

So it turns out that the project is some type of report on a food or cuisine from France.  After exchanging phone numbers with Jadyn, I, along with Chloe and Zoe, headed out of class since the bell had rung.

After French, though, things seemed to be looking on the brighter side!  I aced my math test and answered all the questions right in biology.  The day just seemed to keep getting better and better!

HOWEVER!  During lunch, over the PA, Principal Winston called our attention.  "As you may know, we have a few students who are here for the month.  They are exchange students, so please treat them with utmost hospitality."

So that's why Jadyn's here.  I glanced over at her since she was sitting with us, but it appears that she left to go use the bathroom or something.   "That must mean...there are others too!" Chloe pointed her finger into the air happily.

"I didn't even know," I admitted.

"To celebrate having these exchange students with us, we will have a festival mentioned by some of the exchange students.  We will be having a culture festival here at Westchster Country Day!"

Everybody in the cafeteria was cheering, and I couldn't even help myself but feel excited too.  It wasn't every sporadic time like this that old stingy Principal Winston would do something like this.  Those foreign kids must have power...

"But it's not only WCD that will have this festival...we're collaborating with the nearby schools of Montealegre High and Talmane Preparatory High for this festival fundraiser.  Our school is in charge of the continents of Europe and Asia, so your homeroom teachers will tell you what country or culture you were assigned.  Please have a good day."

Things keep getting better and better...

"Look, look!" Zoe ran up to me at my locker after school was over.  "Chloe and my class are doing...Spain!  We're going to have so much fun doing it!!!  However...I wish you were in our class," she sighed.

"Yeah, then we all could work on the project together.  French class and Spain booth!" Chloe dramatically placed her hand over her forehead.  "Buuut," she wiggled her eyebrows a bit.  "You're working with Brandon, aren't you~?  What are the countries you guys will work on?"

I blushed a million shades of red.  "D-Don't say it like that!" I waved it off.  "I think we're doing Japan and Mongolia."  But they were right.  This was too good of an opportunity to pass off, and MacKenzie and Jadyn wouldn't be there to interfere!

"Ah, Jadyn!" Chloe called as she was walking out of her classroom.

"Mh, hi, guys," she amiably waved at us, walking over.  "Aren't you guys excited about this festival fundraiser?"

"It's definitely better than asking your relatives to buy things from a catalogue," Zoe noted.

 "That's true," I had to admit.  "Did you have anything to do with the decision, Jadyn?"

The girl just grinned at us and winked.  "Can't say anything right now~"

"Well, what's your homeroom doing then?" Chloe asked, rocking on her heels.

"We're doing France and China," Jadyn grinned widely, giving us a thumbs up.

"E-Eh?  Aren't those your two home countries?" I looked at her, slightly shocked.

"Well, technically," Jadyn began, "My dad's French, and my mom grew up in Japan but she was actually Chinese, and..."

So all I got from that long story short was that she is a rich kid who has a lot of mixed blood line.  Gosh, rich kids are always flaunting about their heritage and background and everything.

"Oh, right, Nikki," Jadyn suddenly turned to me.  "Are you full American?  What do your parents do?"

Shoot!  I've been caught.  "Umm...well..." I awkwardly rubbed the back of my head.  I can't tell her the truth!  That's too embarrassing, and I'll be humiliated!  Someone, do something!!!

Surprisingly, the scene that happened next was definitely not who I expected to save me.  It was MacKenzie!  "JADIE!!!  You...you..." she had ran over, panting with a lipstic in her hand, with Jessica, who was crying and carrying other things in a small paper bag.

"MacKenzie and Jessica?" Jadyn tilted her head, seeming a bit surprised.

"All this makeup!" MacKenzie suddenly looked up, and we could see.  Her face was covered in blotches and colors, and so was Jessica's.  "IT'S DEFECTIVE!  How could you trick me?!" she roared in anger, her blond hair flying everywhere.

"Ah, now, now, MacKenzie, I told you," Jadyn sighed, shaking her head.  "Those were just samples I was sent from my aunt in Paris.  She was having a conference, so those were samples sent in from high-rising make-up stars."  She shrugged.  "I told you this might happen..."

"You...you...!  I'm going to tell Daddy!" MacKenzie had tears in her eyes, and I couldn't help but feel sorry for her.  For less than a millisecond.  Whatever Jadyn did was ingenious!  And it definitely made my day!

"Mh, then what am I going to tell Alex then if I can't visit her in England during the summer...?" the ravenette crossed her arms, pretending to think hard.  "She's going to want to talk about how well you treated me here...Besides, you were the one who wanted that sample, and my aunt sent it especially since I mentioned it was for a friend."

"D-Don't you dare talk to that cousin of mine!" the furious blonde stormed off.  "Alexandria doesn't have time for you!  C'mon, Jessica!"

"Uh, m'kay," Jadyn waved as she ran off.  "I'll tell my aunt you enjoyed the makeup.~"

Chloe, Zoe, and I just stood there, jaws on the floor.  "H-Ho-How?!" I gasped.  "What was that?"  The three of us finally burst out laughing, and Jadyn chuckled a little, too.

"Mh, she kept bothering me to get a sample of my aunt's makeup, so I did," Jadyn seemed bored and yawned.  "My aunt owns 'Shimmering Stars' so yeah~"

"That was...SO COOL!  And what?  That's amazing!  I love that brand!" Chloe hugged Jadyn.  "That made me laugh so hard!"

The girl just smiled, laughing a bit.  "That wasn't me.  I just don't like being used," she shook her head.  "Oh, I have to go now!  I'll see you guys tomorrow!" Jadyn waved and ran off.

Thank goodness that my mom picked me up to go home so I didn't have to humiliate myself with that roach van because she pulled up while we had been talking.  That would have been so horrifying and embarrassing and just plain dorky!

So yeah, today was another interesting day!  I hope that times just get even better and better!  And SQUEEE!!! :D  I just got a text from Brandon, asking if I wanted to work on the website for the festival with him!   It looks like each class gets their own page linked to the school website to announce schedules and fun facts and stuff for the countries we do!  Now I'm definitely having RCS (Roller Coaster Syndrome)!!!  Gotta text Zoe and Chloe the great news!  And then I'll start working on the website and artwork!  I've been saving up my money to buy one of those new fancy tablets that connect to the computer so you can draw and it will appear on the computer!  That would be perfect for this new website!  But it's getting late so I'll just sketch it in my notebook.  I hope this festival is a success!  It's way better than having tests, that's for sure!  Hey, since I'm helping with Japan, I should try drawing...what's it called again?  Oh, right!  Anime or manga!  Who knows?  Maybe I'll learn something new that I can impress my friends with!  Like these emoticon things!  They're so cute!  I made some for Zoe, Chloe, and me!  Aren't they a'dork'able?
