Grocery time (Bone's lil stories)
"Look at him... A freak."
"Have you heard? He eats children for his breakfast!"
"He is a monstrosity! Why do we even let those kinds live with us?"
"I got it toons... Angels too... But demons like him? No that's impossible"
"We should ban him and his family away!"
It was always like this since he was born... Every time he goes take a walk outside or even go do some grocery for his mother. People, humans mostly, were judging his presence in the town.
He was not the tallest but he sure was one of the few to be a head ahead of them. He sometimes has to tower over who he speaks to. Right now he was in a shop that sells everything the grocery list requires. He had taken everything in a bag. One thing was missing and he was trying to have help from a worker at the counter.
The employee was a young woman who looked blazed until she saw him get closer. She stared at him with wide eyes. Those seem to even almost pop out of her face.
The black cat stared at her like her reaction was nothing. Like he was used to seeing it. There was a very long silent atmosphere between the two.
The young woman hesitated to speak before she took the courage to give a customer smile and proceed to gesture to the bag full of groceries. "U-Um... Do you want me to scan those?" She proposed a way to ease the situation. She even moved a hand over to grab the white bag. Instead it got away from her reach as the demon shook his head. "No... I need help with funding this." He showed her the little notebook in his other hand, where his index was tapping over a word.
She retracted her hand back as she thought for a second for it to be cut off from her. She sighs in relief as she glances at the word on the notebook. 'Strawberry milk' the word almost made her laugh at the way such a guy like him hadn't spotted those yet. Yet she looked up to meet his red eyes. All four held the same emotions. She kinda got the glint of a plea for a second.
She was going to tell him where those are until an old man came with a mad look. "Hey you! Leave this lady work alone!" The black cat blinked and moved away from the counter as his body was turned to the mad man.
"Don't you see you are scaring her!? Now get out of here!" The man sounded very furious. The cashier lady was surprised the old man was protecting her despite nothing had happened. After all, the tall being didn't even talk to her badly or show any violence toward her.
"Sir.... I was only asking for some information. I don't mean to scare anyone." The cat demon was explaining the situation calmly with his deep voice reverting through his throat.
The old man didn't seem to want to listen to him. Instead he gave an accusing pointed finger. "I know what you did! Don't make me call the police!"
The young lady watched the situation helplessly. She can't really do much but if one of the two ended up attacking, there she could call the security to come over.
The demon shook his head and simply turned his back on both as he walked away. He went to the back of the shop as he was searching for what he had been missing in his list.
The woman felt the guilt get to her and to not even ease it the old man dared to come talk to her and give random insults about the tall cat man. She lets the old man talk until she scans his grocery and waits for him to pay already.
Her eyes would glance over to where the cat ears were moving around behind the aisles. It was quite a cute and fun sight to see someone people keep bad talking about having struggles finding something.
After the old man was gone and no one else was coming to the counter.... She quickly got out of the cashier box and went over to the poor tall man that seemed desperate to find his milk.
His ears twitched as he stopped his movement. He simply looked in her direction and stared. He feels like he might need to wear some glasses, towering over others or even seeing from a certain distance makes his eyes blurry.
"Sir? Are you still searching for strawberry milk?" She sounded amused as she stepped closer. Now he saw her clearly and he was glad it was the cashier lady.
He looked down to the refrigerator he had been looking in it for ten minutes ago. "... Yes. Do you know where those are?" The woman crossed her arms and pointed in a direction. "These are just behind you, mister." He felt embarrassed for not noticing this sooner as he turned around to see all different kinds of milk and some that had flavors.
"Oh...." He looked at her and smiled a little bit in a sheepish way. "Thanks you miss..." For a second the woman felt her heart skip a beat at the sight of the fangs.
She looks away and waves a hand in dismissal. "Your welcome sir... I'll be at the counter waiting for you then." She rushed back to her working spot before he could respond to her.
Only after a minute or two, he got back to the cashier counter to dispose of his groceries. The woman proceeded to scan everything and put it in two bags. Until she had grabbed the strawberry milk flavored bottles.
She is not gonna lie, those are her favorite. She proceeds to scan the code bar while giving a small glance to the tall feline. "This is your favorite too right?" All she received was a long stare from him. One that was getting too long in her taste before he looked away to give a simple shy nod of his head.
Her heart made another beat to be skipped at the way it was too adorable. She quickly tapped on the keyboard and the price was coming up on the screen. "Alright, this will be twenty five dollars and sixty three cents please." She said and could hear him rummage through his trench coat to get out the money and hand it to her. She extended her hand out to get it until she felt a warm squishy texture left her own. She was confused and looked quickly at his hand. She had to squint her eyes to see some black pads over there. She almost let out a gasp as she can't believe this man has this cat's features too. She wanted to run her other hand over those to feel how warm and soft...
She shook her head as she realized she had been staring too much again. "S-Sorry... And thank you.. W-Would you like the ticket?" She proceeded to put the money in the cashier and grab the ticket that was printed out some seconds ago and was handing it over to him.
"...Yes." His hand clapped and almost engulfed her hand that held the ticket. She let him take it as she felt goosebumps going over her body. His pad was too warm and felt like clouds compared to his fingers wrapped around. "Thank you..." And then the warm feeling left with him.
She was disappointed for a short moment... But now she can't wait to be the next day she would meet this cat man again.
Then she realized she didn't ask for his name and only said something about the milk preference.
She would facepalm herself for being so nervous and stupid at the same time. Now she has to focus on making her other clients pay for their groceries or else she can say bye bye to her paycheck.
Meanwhile Bone was walking back home, grocery bags in his arms. He was a little perplexed about the interaction he had with that young lady. He could feel her nervous behavior but also her fascination with his feline aspect. Which made him wonder for once if good people outside the one he knows still exist?
He shrugs as he went to the kitchen once he got inside the sweet home he loved to live in. "I'm back..." He said while he was putting everything he had bought to its exact place.
The first to greet him back was his mother. Who had noticed the way her son's ears were folded backward. She thought that people had been judging him again. "Was it a bad grocery trip again?"
Bone blinked and for once he didn't nod his head to affirm her question. He shook his head from side to side nonchalantly. "Oh? What happened then my boy?" After putting the milk in the fridge he turned to face her. "I don't know ma..... I met a woman that showed something else than fear or disgust. She was... Amused, nervous and fascinated toward my appearance." That was the first she heard about this. She almost let out a squeal of joy until someone else stepped into the kitchen. "Hey you two! Guess who came back~!" Came Kitty's voice and the way she had put her bag that seemed to weigh a ton on the table. Ms.Company rushed to give a big crushing hug and her daughter responded back to it the same way with her well known outburst of laughter.
Bone rolled his eyes and got closer to join in the group hug since he knew he would get forced to join it sooner or later. "You won't believe this my dear! Bone has finally met someone that wasn't scared of him while doing groceries!" Kitty let out a gasp as she looked up to her big brother with stars in her eyes. "Oh my gosh! I gotta hear everything about it!"
The big feline sighs as he knew this would happen.
