"HOLD STILL."

Iris hastily stops her fidgeting, forcing her arms to hang limply at her side as Carol shoves another pin into the waistline of her dress, taking it in. It felt a little strange that she was letting someone else stitch up her clothes, she was so used to doing things with her hands that it felt strange to stand here and let Carol do it for the most important dress of her life, but Iris needed to be wearing it so that she could make it appear more tailored. She can't help but smile sheepishly. "Sorry."

"It's quite alright." Carol answers, squeezing Iris' bare shoulder. "I wish we had a proper mirror. Or a camera, so you could see how beautiful it looks on you."

"Rick and Daryl did well." Iris hums, feeling an air of peacefulness around her as Carol gently pulls down on the sleeveless strap, making it a little tighter over her shoulders. "I'm still a little shocked."

It had been about a week since they had let the citizens of Woodbury into the prison, and it was turning out to already be a good decision. Among the newcomers were Tyreese and Sasha, who Rick had originally driven away in a temporary state of insanity, and they were good people; fair fighters who were key players in the slow rebuild of a community. They were a long way from anything permanent, but what they had managed to do in only a week gave her a lot of hope that in time, things would be better.

After the first few days of cohabitation, resources had been running thin, and Rick and Daryl headed out on a supply run. Iris had thought it was strange when Glenn didn't go with them, but it was only later on that she found out he had been barred from joining them when they had returned with a silky white wedding dress just for her. Apparently bridal stores weren't number one on the list of stores to loot these days.

It was everything Iris had always dreamed of.

The dress was beautiful. A simple lace bodice with hand-sewn flowers that stretched all the way to the sleeveless straps. The skirt was pure white, covered in a layer of mesh that fell straight down to her feet, and the train spread out behind her like angel wings. Rick and Daryl had even picked her up a silver crown to rest over the top of her head with a veil just as long as her thick blonde hair. The moment she tried it on, even though it was slightly too big, her heart had skipped a beat. Ever since Iris was ten years old, she dreamed of this day, imagining over and over again what it would be like, and how it would feel to try on her dream dress for the very first time. She hadn't worn a dress for over a year. It just wasn't practical anymore for the life that they lived, so she had gotten used to the loose shirts and the cargo pants that made it easier to run and didn't limit her movements like a dress would. The wedding dress was silky and comfortable, but above all, it felt exactly the way she had always dreamed her wedding dress would feel.

Absolutely perfect.

"It feels so nice." Iris murmurs, playing with her the finger on her left hand where the beautiful ring would sit by the end of the day. "I never thought I'd feel pretty like this again."

She sways back and forth and the dress moves with her, making her giggle from the feeling of the fabric around her legs. Carol places the handful of pins on the nearby table, wrapping her arms around Iris' shoulders. "You're always pretty, sweetheart. But you look like a knockout in this dress. Glenn's not gonna know what hit him."

Iris flushes red and leans her head back. The group has taken this wedding very seriously, putting effort into making it special and following all the traditions that Iris had dreamed of since she was a little girl. They had even kept Glenn away from the dress so that the first time he would see it, it would be when she was walking down the aisle. "Thank you for fixing it up."

"Oh, Iris."

Iris turns her head as the cell doors open. Only the girls remained inside as Iris put on the dress of her dreams, as they had forced the boys outside to the fields — no one was telling Iris what they were doing, but she was pretty sure they were making it look just as pretty as she felt wearing this dress. It was Beth who had spoken, tailed by Maggie holding onto Judith, Michonne and little Bonnie.

Beth's whole expression lights up when Iris turns around to face her and she sees the dress in full. She leaps forward to feel the soft fabric, her blue eyes wide with adoration. "You look amazing. It's beautiful."

"Thank you." Iris replies in a hushed tone. She didn't know if it was the dress or just the excitement of the day ahead that was making her emotional, but her eyes pool with tears. "I've never felt so happy."

Beth brings her hands to Iris' hair, threading her fingers through the long strands. "You must let me do something with your hair."

"Yeah?" Iris asks, licking her lips and sending Beth a mischievous smile. "What have you got in mind?"

"I used to do this on Sophia's hair..." Carol says, taking two strands of Iris' hair and pulling it to the back of her head. "We could braid them, it'll go nicely with the veil."

"Will you do my hair pretty?" Bonnie asks with wide eyes, pawing at her own brown hair which seemed even thicker than her own. Ever since Iris had taken Iris from Woodbury, she had sat down every single morning and carefully brushed her hair, and it had transformed from a matted mess into curled waves.

Iris smiles, leaning down as best as possible, the skirt spreading around her in a way that made her feel like a real life princess. She takes Bonnie's hands in her own. "Of course. We can do yours so that it matches mine. We need only the best for our flower girl."

"I made sure that we've got enough flowers for her to throw around." Maggie reassures, taking a step forward as she bounces baby Judith in her arms. Maggie had been taking care of everything to do with the planning of the small ceremony as her maid of honour, so that Iris didn't have to stress, and it made her heart flutter with appreciation. "And we have a surprise for you?"

Iris perks up, looking between all of the girls in shock. "Really?"

Bonnie squeals in excitement, jumping up and down as she grins. "I kept it a secret! I kept it a secret!"

"She had to be bribed not to tell you." Michonne smiles, shaking her head in amusement. It sounded exactly like Bonnie, who was a very bright and very excitable little girl who liked to enthusiastically tell her every little detail of her day.

Iris laughs. "You did a good job, kiddo."

"Go and get it! Go and get it!" Bonnie exclaims, still jumping up and down in excitement. Michonne flashes her one last smile before she turns on her heels and disappears, likely to one of the cells where her mysterious surprise was hiding. Michonne had also become closer to their group since Woodbury, and Iris was beginning to consider the swordswoman a good friend. Iris tilts her head, very carefully standing up and trying not to bunch up the skirt.

It wasn't long before Michonne returned, and in her hands was a beautifully fashioned bouquet of bright flowers, wrapped in mesh and tied up with a pretty blue ribbon. The flowers were a multitude of colours, reds and pinks and purples and yellows, looking full of life and full of purpose. Her jaw drops open as the bouquet is presented to her, and she takes it with shaky hands.

"Oh my god." She whispers, inspecting the beautiful display of flowers with a fresh pool of tears in her eyes. "They're beautiful. How on earth did you-"

"That's for us to know." Maggie replies, giving Iris a cheeky glance. Judith coos in her arms, holding out her hands like little starfish as if even she understood the significance of this moment. "That ribbon on there, that's your something blue."

Iris gently brushes her fingers over the soft blue ribbon tied in a perfect little bow. "Oh, Magpie. You really thought of everything. I don't know what I'd do without you."

"We wanted to give you the wedding you deserve." Beth says shyly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ears. "You and Glenn give us a lot of hope for the future, you know."

"I wanted to give you your something borrowed." Carol says, squeezing Iris' hand. Iris turns her head to see Carol taking out her signature pearl earrings, gently raising her arms to secure them into Iris' ears. "For the ceremony."

The earrings felt heavy but also comforting, reminding Iris of the ones her grandmother would wear every day when Iris was growing up. She'd always admired the perfect pearls that made her look elegant and beautifully intelligent. It felt as if there was a part of Madigan Grimes with her on the most important day of her life, and that information gave her a feeling of great ease. She thumbs the pearl with her fingers, taking a moment to hear the beating of her heart. "Thank you."

"Something new is the dress, of course." Maggie says, shuffling the baby into Beth's arms, who crouches down and allows Bonnie to stroke the soft tufts of hair on Judith's hair. "Courtesy of Rick and Daryl."

Michonne takes a step forward, and Iris could sense that she was beginning to feel like she belonged within their group, which made her happy beyond words. She shares a look with the woman, smiling widely. "What about something old?"

"That was the hardest one." Michonne answers, leaning against the wall. "There's not a lot of old things here, but we did manage to find this when we were clearing out one of the cells. Glenn said you'd like it."

She nods towards Bonnie, who grins and pats Judith on the head one more time. She takes her little backpack off of her back, crouching on the floor and zipping it open. She pulls out a dusty, worn book that was clothbound in a beautiful shade of green. Bonnie handled it carefully, standing up and holding the book for Iris to take.

Her heart skips a beat when her gaze falls on the book. Iris had always loved losing herself in a good story. She had read every single book in Dale's RV more times than once, she had been esatic when they made it to CDC and there was a whole bookshelf full of stories that she regrettably never had the chance to read. It had been so long since Iris had been able to curl up with a good book, and the opportunity made her heart soar. She touches the cover, reading the words decorated in gold lettering. Peter Pan and Wendy.

And just like that, the tears spill from her eyes.

"Are you sad?" Bonnie asks, tilting her head as her face drops.

Iris wipes her cheek. "No, love. I'm happy. So incredibly happy. Sometimes you can feel so happy that the tears spill out anyway. They're called happy tears. I'm crying because my gifts are so special."

"Happy tears." Bonnie echoes, bouncing on the balls of her feet and peering around the room. When she is faced with a host of bright smiles, her grin returns.

"You guys are the best bridal party I could ask for." Iris laughs through the tears that were still shedding. She places the book down carefully on the table, smoothing out her dress and letting out a deep breath. "Alright. Let's get married."

𖤓𖤓𖤓

"It's starting to look a lot better." Rick says, wiping a drop of sweat from his brow.

Glenn clears his throat and leans down to pick up the legs of yet another walker, dragging it backwards into the pile of bodies they had created in the corner. "Yeah. Less like a graveyard and more like..."

"A wedding reception?" Daryl asks, licking his lips and helping Glenn move another walker. They had already gone through and killed all the walkers that had taken over their field, with the help of the newcomers from Woodbury. In all the chaos of the prison population increasing tenfold, they had been busy focusing on other pressing matters — like clearing out more cell blocks for them all to sleep — rather than burning all the bodies on the field. Now that it had been a week, things were slowly calming down.

Glenn chuckles, throwing the body into the pile. "Maybe I just wanna make it special for her. I don't want to get married with a bunch of dead people as uninvited guests."

"Glenn!" Carl yells from the other side of the field, running towards them with a wide smile on his face. Glenn had asked Carl to be his best man a couple of days ago and the young teenager had jumped at the opportunity with an excitement that seemed rare for him nowadays. "She's gonna try on the dress! They kicked me out but I saw a glimpse of it hanging up and it's so pretty!"

The girls had formed a protective shield around Iris all day, citing that it was 'bad luck' for the groom to see the bride on the wedding day. They were trying extra hard to keep all of the traditions possible alive for Iris, knowing just how much she adored this kind of thing, and Glenn appreciated it more than anything. If he wanted to make this day the most special day for her, Glenn needed his village.

And his village cared for Iris just as much as he did.

Glenn pats Carl on the shoulder, looking around the now empty field, apart from the pile of walkers they would take out and burn. Rick and Daryl were the ones who had brought home the wedding dress, taking both Glenn and Iris by surprise. He knew something was up when they refused to allow him to go on the supply run, and Glenn always went on supply runs, but he wasn't expecting to see the flash of white hanging up in the car when they returned. He was whisked away soon after, because of course the groom couldn't see the dress before the wedding either.

"Thanks for doing that for her, by the way." Glenn says, holding his hands to his hips, panting from the effort of moving bodies all morning. "It meant the world."

"I'd do anything for her. She's been dreaming of this day since she was a little kid." Rick says, a soft smile forming on his face. "I think I made it even worse by having my wedding when she was so young. She got obsessed with everything Lori and I were doing."

Rick stops in his tracks, twisting his head to stare at the graves that serve as a painful reminder of everything they had lost. Iris had fallen in love with the idea of weddings after attending Lori's when she was young, but now Lori would never get to experience her own special day. Their friend T-Dog, who always teased about wanting to be the best man at their wedding, would miss seeing them tie the knot even though he had been right there with them when they first met. It wasn't just Lori and T-Dog, it was Andrea and Dale and Jacqui and Amy, even if their graves weren't here in this field. If only they could be here to see what the prison was becoming, what it represented. They would have felt so proud.

Daryl brushes a piece of his growing hair away from his face, equally dripped in sweat. "The dress will look great on her. You two deserve this, you really do."

Daryl saying that really hit home, especially since he rarely opened up to anyone except Carol or Iris. The fact that he was out here helping them get the field ready for a wedding showed just how much he actually cared. Glenn felt a warmth in his heart, realizing that their small group had grown to feel like family. This bond became even clearer with the arrival of the Woodbury folks, who had settled in the other cell blocks they had cleared, leaving Cell Block C exclusively for their group, which felt pretty special.

As of right now, all of the boys had been banished from the cells as they got Iris ready for the evening. The actual ceremony would take place at dusk, but he had learned time and time again that hours passed by like the wind. He couldn't get his mind away from the image of Iris in a beautiful, pure white dress, walking towards him with a bright smile on her face as they too the next step in their future together.

The field was a far cry from a church and they didn't exactly have a gourmet buffet spread or live music entertainment, but something about the simplicity of the green grass around him made it feel magical anyway. Their love had prevailed over their loss. Glenn wasn't a religious man and Iris had her own struggles with religion, but it almost felt as if their union was being blessed by the angels. His thoughts were interrupted by Rick clapping his shoulder like the older brother he never had.

"We can handle taking the bodies out, man." He says, pointing towards Daryl who had already started loading the bodies into the truck. It was easier to burn them all at once outside their perimeter, as long as the fire was controlled. "You relax, work on those vows of yours. Carl."

Carl had moved back over to sit with Hershel on the bench, but when Rick calls his name, he perks up. Hershel was writing on a piece of paper, trying to remember and memorise a vicor's speech to make the wedding feel as official as possible. Next to Carl on the bench was something that Glenn couldn't make out, but he picks it up and runs over to the three of them at the speed of lightning.

Both Rick and Daryl couldn't hide their smirks as Carl presents Glenn with a brand new, crisp suit jacket, even adorned with a little fake red rose in the front pocket.

"For me?" Glenn asks, taking the jacket in his hands and inspecting the perfect stitching.

"Yeah, man." Daryl answers, staring down at the jacket with an array of pride. "Found it in the bridal store. Guess whoever was buyin' that dress left it behind. We don't think it was worn. It's not a whole suit, but it'll sure go with her dress. You both deserve something nice."

"Thank you." Glenn answers sincerely. The suit jacket felt soft and undeniably expensive, better than any suit he'd ever worn before. The couple who was supposed to get married in those outfits must've been well off to afford such luxurious outfits, and he inwardly took a moment to appreciate their sacrifice, just as he had done when he had found the matching rings.

The last time Glenn had worn a suit at all was over four years ago, at his senior prom. His older sisters had fawned over him when he put it on, making sure it was well pressed and giving him overlapping speeches about treating his date well (though Glenn couldn't even remember her name anymore, she seemed to pale in comparison to Iris) which had annoyed him profusely, feeling like he was too old to be babied by his older sisters.

The memory brought a pang of pain in his heart. He knew that it was more than likely that April and Hazel were dead back home in Michigan, and he'd certainly never see them again, but he wished more than anything else that they were here to straighten out his jacket and give him the speech about taking care of Iris. He wouldn't be annoyed by them like he was when he was eighteen. He would've thanked them and appreciated just how much his sisters had truly done for him growing up.

Glenn was convinced April and Hazel were looking down on him now, fighting tears as they watched him prepare for the best day of his life.

He was about to be married to the girl of his dreams.

𖤓𖤓𖤓

Iris takes a deep breath as she peeks out of the tiny holes in the fence.

She couldn't see much as the field was partially hidden by the wall she was hiding behind ― God forbid Glenn accidentally got a peek of her dress before she was ready to step out, but what she could see exceeded her every expectation.

The sun was gently setting over the horizon, painting the sky in a beautiful collage of orange and pink. The entire prison, even the citizens of Woodbury, were standing in pre-arranged lines like church pews even though there were no chairs with an aisle splitting them down the middle. Bonnie was standing at the start of the aisle, her back to the fence, tapping her foot impatiently as she stood clutching the small basket of flowers. Iris had no idea how Maggie had managed to pull it off, but she was wearing the most beautiful pink dress Iris had ever seen. Her hair, matching the style that Iris wore herself, was immaculate and she even had a little flower crown on top of her head. Hershel was holding onto his bible at the top of the home-made aisle, talking in hushed voices with Carl and Maggie, who had taken their places beside the altar as Best Man and Maid of Honour.

And right in the middle of it all, stood Glenn.

He looked so handsome standing in front of the gallery of people, adjusting the black suit jacket that sat perfectly on his shoulders. The jacket was tight fitting and showed off the muscles that he had developed after so many months on the road, making him look chiselled and even more attractive. His hair was styled just the way she loved it, slightly messy with the longest strand falling in his face and framing his cheekbones. He was joining in on the conversation with the others, but even from a distance, Iris could see the nervous twitch in his jaw as he waited for the ceremony to start, one that mirrored the own twist in her stomach. It wasn't second thought nerves, more nerves of excitement, like how actors must feel in the moments before stepping on stage.

She looks down at her own body, catching the movement of the mesh around her white dress. She was glad that it had minimal layers because it was still quite warm outside and she would've hated to accidentally sweat through the perfect fabric. It was so comfortable that she never wanted to take it off again.

"You look beautiful."

Iris turns around to see Rick standing behind her, with his hands in front of his stomach, adorning a huge, proud smile.

"Rick." She chuckles, shaking her head in amusement. "What are you doing? Aren't you supposed to be in the front row."

His hair was neater than she had seen it in a long time, his curls tamed as much as possible. Iris wondered if he had really sat there while Carol or Maggie brushed it out, and the thought made her heart flutter with happiness.

Rick takes a step closer to her, gently interlocking his arm with hers. "Who's gonna walk you down the aisle if I'm all the way up there?"

"You wanna walk me down the aisle?" Iris asks, the corners of her mouth upturning as she feels Rick's arm tighten around her own. At Rick's small nod of confirmation, more tears pool at her eyes. "Oh, you're gonna make me cry before I even get to the aisle."

Rick reaches forward and wipes one of her tears. "At least you don't have any mascara to accidentally stain your face." He looks back through the fence, and swallows in preparation and hands her Maggie's bouquet of flowers. "Bonnie's up. Come on, it's almost time."

Iris nods, feeling a sense of significance wash over her. Glenn was about to see her in her wedding dress for the very first time; a moment that they would remember for the rest of their lives. She turns her head to peek through the holes in the fence, one of her face-framing curls brushing against her cheek, to see Bonnie skipping down the aisle, throwing little flower petals as she goes.

And then it was time.

To the backdrop of Beth's gentle singing, Rick opens the gate and the two of them step out. The entire audience turns around to look at her, with her carefully styled hair and beautifully detailed dress, reacting with a series of gasps and little smiles that made her feel like the most beautiful girl in the world. However, she ignored every single one of their faces, focusing on the only face that mattered.

Glenn already had shining tears in his eyes the moment she walked out onto the field. His face was softer than she'd ever seen, staring at her with the most pure, loving expression that washed over her like an ocean. His chocolate brown eyes were open like it was the first time he was ever truly seeing, and they didn't stray from her, not for one single moment.

She thought that her heart might beat right out of her chest.

Iris walks down the aisle, gently avoiding the petals that Bonnie had so carefully placed down. When she reaches the very end of the crowd of people, she notices that Glenn had the golden flower wreath pin secured on his jacket, and she smiles. Glenn's mouth upturns as she stands before him, looking her up and down like he was trying not to cry.

"Hi." She says shyly. It felt a little strange, seeing him after being apart from him all day, surrounded by all of these people staring at her.

"Hi." Glenn breathes, sounding starstruck. He shuffles on the spot, playing with his hands and the sleeve of his jacket. "You look breathtaking."

Rick squeezes Iris' hand one last time, planting a kiss on her cheek. He leans forward to firmly shake Glenn's hand, and the way her little family had managed to replicate every little tradition possible makes her giggle and wipe her wet cheeks. Taking her flower bouquet from her so that both of her hands were free, Rick backs away and stands in the front row beside Daryl, unable to stop his wide smile.

Glenn and Iris stare at each other for a moment, taking it all in. The setting sun was the most beautiful backdrop, making Glenn's eyes turn from chocolate brown to honey golden, as if he had been sunkissed.

Hershel clears his throat, looking ahead at the audience. In the front rows was their group, watching on with looks of pride and joy. Even Bonnie was standing still, holding onto Carol's hand and staring at her surrogate parents in awe. Once everyone quietens down, Hershel speaks. "We are gathered here today to celebrate the wonderful union of our dear friends, Glenn and Iris. These two have managed to find the purest and most beautiful form of love in a world that severely lacks the type of love that I see before me today."

Hershel pauses, looking around the field as he clutches his bible close to his hands. He takes a breath, and continues.

"For those of you who are new to this wonderful place we call home, my name is Hershel Greene and I have had the privilege to know both Iris and Glenn for the better part of a year. Their entire group came across my farm, desperately needing my help. Little did I know that my home would soon become the very place that Glenn and Iris would confess their feelings to one another. Their story is something that I have the great honour of being a part of. They have had their great share of challenges, but their love has always been able to outshine and overcome any trials that have come their way. Glenn, you are sweet and kind and a good man. Iris, you are incredibly headstrong and nurturing, always ready to give a helping hand to anyone who needs it. Together, the two of you have braved through every single storm, and you bring out the best in each other, which is obvious thrugh the adorable little girl that you have taken on as your own. Iris and Glenn, as you stand here before me today, surrounded by your closest friends and family, you prove that the one thing that can survive any apocalypse is love. I'm not going to bore you any longer with my own sentiments, as the two of you have prepared your own vows to speak to one another. Iris, would you like to begin?"

Iris takes a big breath in and nods. After a moment's hesitation, she takes both of Glenn's hands in his. "Glenn. There aren't enough words in the English language to explain all that I feel about you, but I'm going to try my very best. You are the bravest, kindest man I have ever met, and from the moment we locked eyes for the very first time outside of my apartment, I had no idea just how important you were going to become to me. You became my heart, my soul, everything that I have ever needed, and I didn't even know it. Not then. In the short amount of time that we knew one another, I fell head over heels in love with you. Everywhere that I turned, there you were, waiting for me, saving me, loving me. You found me when I was all alone, and you saved my life in more ways than one. You put up with all of the bad stuff and you're always there when I need you. I love you more than life itself, and I can't wait to take this next step and become your wife. I have been dreaming of this day since I was a little girl, and I believe that you have been waiting for me ever since we were kids. When I lie awake at night, I wonder if our paths have ever crossed before. Have we ever passed each other on the streets, completely oblivious that this very moment would happen years in the future? That's a comforting thought to me. Because no matter what happened in this lifetime, I knew that I would've found you, because the two of us are meant to be together."

She gently untangles her fingers from him, wiping another tear that fell from her blue eyes. Hershel smiles and speaks out again. "Thank you for those beautiful words, Iris. Glenn, would you like to share your vows, now?"

Glenn nods his head, straightening the cuff of his jacket and staring right into Iris' soul, so much so that she knows his words are coming directly from the heart. "Iris June Grimes. God, I love that name. Iris June Grimes. It's just as beautiful as you are, the most fitting name for the most beautiful girl that I have ever laid eyes on. The first time I met you, I was doing the last delivery of the night shift. In all honesty, I was having a pretty bad day and I was dreading walking up the stairs to your apartment and delivering yet another pizza like I had been doing ever since I graduated high school. And then you answered the door. I was immediately entranced by your big blue eyes that looked like they contained an entire ocean in them, and your thick hair that was messy but somehow perfect as it fell over your shoulders. And then you spoke about babysitting your nephew for the night. The boy that I later on learned was Carl, who stands here as my best man tonight, and I fell in love with you right at your doorstep. You're right, it was fate that brought us together again, because I know that even if the world hadn't ended, that you would be a part of my life for a long time. As we got closer, I only fell harder. You're an incredible person, Iris. You're so caring, about everyone around you, even if they're nothing but strangers to you. You're inspiring in your bravery, in the way that you hold your ground and make your voice heard. You're everything that I have ever wanted and more. If I had to think of my dream girl, she wouldn't even come close to you. It is with great privilege, and what I call incredible luck, that I get to stand up here under the setting sun and become your husband. Because it's you and me, Iris. You and me, infinitely."

As Glenn finishes his last words, Iris lets out a soft chuckle and allows the tears to stream down her face. When she turns her head to look at her family waiting in the wings, she is greeted with equally teary eyes.

"And now we move on to the most important part of the ceremony today, our exchange of rings. The ring is a symbol of the unbroken circle of love. Love freely given has no beginning and no end, no giver and no receiver for each is the giver and each is the receiver. May these rings always remind you of the vows you've made here today." Hershel announces. Carl shuffles forward and hands the ring box that he was keeping safe to the older man. "Do you, Glenn Hyeon Rhee, take Iris June Grimes, to be your lawfully wedded wife?"

Glenn nods, clearing his throat as he prepares for the final, tear jerking moment. "I do."

Hershel presents the smaller ring to Glenn, who takes it carefully in his hands. Hershel smiles and continues. "Do you promise to love, honor, and cherish her, in sickness and in health, for as long as you both shall live?"

"I do." Glenn answers, not tearing his gaze away from Iris even as he gently slips the ring on her finger. It slides on her ring finger perfectly, as if it were meant to be there from the moment it had been created.

Hershel turns to Iris. "Do you, Iris June Grimes, take Glenn Hyeon Rhee to be your lawfully wedded husband?"

Iris giggles without meaning to, squeezing Glenn's hands tightly as she answers. "I do."

Just as before, Hershel hands Iris the larger ring, glimmering in the sunset like a smile. "Do you promise to love, honor, and cherish him, in sickness and in health, for as long as you both shall live?"

As Iris takes Glenn's hands in hers and slips the ring onto his ring finger, she speaks, staring straight into his expressive, love struck eyes. "I do."

"By the power vested in me by being the oldest man here by a good couple of decades." Hershel starts, gaining a chorus of amused laughs. He looks between Glenn and Iris, wiping one of his own tears as he exclaims. "I now pronounce you husband and wife! You may kiss the bride!"

Glenn captures her into a kiss before Hershel can even finish his sentence. It spoke a thousand words, more powerful than any vow as he held onto the back of her veil. Iris kisses back passionately, taking in every single second of her first kiss with her husband, bringing her hands to his hair and smiling through the entire thing. The crowd was clapping and cheering behind her, but Iris was purely focused on him and the taste of his lips against hers. The magic of the moment was incomparable, and she would be replaying it again and again in her dreams for as long as she lived.

When they finally break apart, Hershel clasps his hands together, addressing the entire audience. "Ladies and gentlemen, it is my honor to present to you, for the first time as a married couple, Mr. and Mrs. Rhee!"

Iris giggles and brings Glenn into a bone crushing hug. There were more claps and wolf whistles from the people watching, but she ignored every single one of them. They faded into the background as Iris held onto her husband, taking in the sense of security that she felt enveloped in his arms.

Iris Rhee was on top of the world.
