Okay, so this is for my friend shroomyshroom99's contest where basically I have to write a one shot about a YouTube ship. By the way, Ashley does own a YouTube channel so technically it counts.

An Ashlence One-Shot

Often times, he would feel boxed in, as if the world was trying to keep him from her. Laurence's sister, Cadenza, had been bugging him about Ashley whilst his mom refused to let Laurence be with her.

Ashley, one of the most dorkiest, hilarious, and caring person he'd ever known. He, Laurence, was one of the most popular and handsome guys at Phoenix Drop High. He could win any girl's heart, but hers. He was afraid, though he didn't seem like it. He was supposed to be one of the most confident guys in the school, yet around her, that confidence was no where to be seen.

His closest friends told him to stay away from her. Ashley the book nerd, the teacher's pet, the author of some stupid fanfics (luv ya _XxBuggsxX_ and sorry about this). To be with her would make you a smart freak like she was. They weren't the only ones warning her. Laurence and Ashley are neighbors and their parents despise each other for reasons they do not say. His mom refuses to let her precious son be touched by the "foul garbage of their neighbors".

Ashley liked Laurence, a lot, although she was too shy to say anything to him. They had been friends for a couple years now, always getting together behind their parents back. He always made her feel good about herself, even when the universe told her otherwise.

Sometimes, at night, Laurence would hear Ashley's parents yelling at her. He heard it all, the yelling, to the insults, and finally the sound of Ashley's footsteps pounding up the stairs. Occasionally, he would hear her slam into a wall, since her sight was blinded by the tears, falling down her face.

The next day, he would write a small note that he knew would make her smile. He would walk out into his backyard and slip the neat envelope between the fence post that separated him from her. Ashley would always find it, because she checked the backyard everyday. Sometimes, she would respond to the letters the next time they met or not a say a word about them, but she had never gave him a letter. Not once.

Today, he heard the sounds of screaming over Ashley's sobs once again. His heart felt heavier at the thought of poor sweet Ashley locked up in her room, crying herself to sleep. As usual, he got to work on his letter. He sealed up the envelope and tiptoed downstairs and out the back door. Quietly, he crept towards the hole in the fence where he usually delivered the letter.

To his surprise, a neat, light purple envelope sat in the grass, waiting for him. Curious, he picked up the letter and on the front, written in Ashley's neat handwriting, was the words To Laurence. He carefully opened the letter and read it once, twice, perhaps three times. Laurence couldn't believe his little eyes. He picked up Ashley's letter, as well as his own, and marched inside.

Ashley went into the backyard to pick up her "mail", hoping that Laurence had got her letter. Instead of Laurence's usual cream envelope, a red one sat in its place. It read To Ashley. Ashley quickly opened it, nervous and eager to see what Laurence wrote to her. She was shocked when all it read was;

Look through the hole.

Cautiously, she moved her gaze towards the hole to find Laurence and his goofy grin waiting for her. Before she could say anything, Laurence spoke first. "Sorry that I didn't write anything on your envelope, but my feelings for you can't be put on paper. You know Ash, I'm kind of glad that you confessed before I did." Ashley smiled and blushed at his nice comments. "Laurence..." she began, only to interrupted by him again. "It makes it a lot easier to do this," he said as he reached out to Ashley and pulled her closer to him. He looked at Ashley lovingly before leaning in to kiss her. Their hands found each other and their fingers intertwined.

No matter what wall stood in their way, nothing could keep them apart. Not a single thing in the whole wide world could.
