"Couldn't sleep so I thought I'd take a walk
I was thinking of you and me"
* * *
River turned with speed to see Alex leaning against a lamppost, his legs crossing each other and a curious look on his face. She instantly cursed herself as she bundled towards her first full sense of normality since moving into 12 Grimmauld Place. Alex wrapped her up in a tight hug whisky his eyes never left Bill who follows after River awkwardly.
"Care to explain?" Alex nodded towards Bill after releasing his hold on River. "I was bombarded by Alexis and Lottie about you and some man but I didn't believe them. That's hardly like you but, I won't hold that against you. You're free to expand your horizons at any time you want, I just don't want to be left in the dark next time."
River chuckled lightly, blood rushing to her cheeks as she coughed. "Uh, Alex this is Bill, Bill this is Alex- my best friend, well, more like a second brother. Bill is my buhoonieend..." she trailed off
Bill stared at her puzzled, what on earth did she call him? He raised his eyebrows as River shyly tucked her hair behind her ears.
Alex snickered and shook his head, "Jesus, River, pattern up! You're in your twenties and still can't be comfortable saying the word 'boyfriend', stop being such a neek." He jested nudging her shoulders.
"Stop it!" She cried and slapped his shoulder, "you knew what I meant."
"Luckily I did. I apologise in advance, my guy, for how weird River is. I wish you good luck."
Bill smiled, "I think I'm used to her weirdness already. It's a pleasure to meet you," he stuck his hand out for Alex to shake. Alex took it and pulled Bill close patting his shoulder. "You're not going to threaten me are you? I am already awaiting Eros killing me for getting with his sister."
"You know Eros?"
"Yeah, he's my best mate."
"River you're moving mad! Imagine linking your brother's best friend!" River rolled her eyes and sent Alex a sharp glaring trying to silence him but he couldn't stop laughing. "Ay, say nothing, say nothing... I'm joking, come on! Look, I've got to dash, see you later."
Alex walked away leaving River to drop her head into her hands in embarrassment. That was not how she was expecting Bill to meet Alex. It was a shambles! Bill could see how much she wanted the ground to swallow her up whole and refrained from saying anything about it. He looped his fingers with hers once more and they continued their walk around London.
Their day in London was well spent and the night drew in, the sky softly mixing into an orange-red hue with dark purple and blue following it as the sun set and the stars appeared. The air became colder, nipping at their exposed skin, Bill found a bench for them to sit on by the river Thames and he cuddled her close.
Thinking about everything, River watched as the river Thames flowed by, lights from boats and surrounding buildings reflecting on the ripples. She focused on Bill's touch, his arm that was around her waist and the hand that rested on her thigh, his thumb rubbing side to side gently. It was like electricity flowing from him into her and her finger tips started to tingle once again. She looked down at them and grew dizzy.
"Bill..." she spluttered, squeezing her eyes shut as the world began to spin.
Bill pulled away slightly to look at River who looked positively ill. He gripped her tightly as she slumped forward off of the bench and he lowered her onto the ground as she started to fit. He let go of her as the seizure went on and he watched horrified as she jerked around, shaking violently. Bill didn't quite know what to do, he was frozen stiff, his heart pounding against his chest in horror of the sight.
Surprisingly, nobody was close by to help him and tell him what to but, in the end, it was a good thing as a bright blue spark shot out of River's palm and cracked a paving slab as her seizure stopped.
He crouched down and gently scooped River up. They were not far from Grimmauld Place actually so he apparated back. River was unconscious still when he laid her on the sofa in the living room and shouted for help. His mother rushed in, followed by Sirius and Remus.
"What happened?" Demanded Mrs Weasley as she felt River's head.
"I-uh- she had a seizure and then a blue spark shot out from her palm and cracked the pavement. I didn't know what to do so I brought her back here." He fussed, tugging at his hair, "is she going to be alright?"
"I'm not a bloody healer, William, go to St Mungo's and request a healer immediately. Remus get the Dawson's from work." Mrs Weasley responded as Sirius adjusted River's body to keep her more comfortable. He had heard that a seizure can put the body through as much as running a marathon and he dreaded River going through that pain.
The healer and Bill came quickly, followed by Eros and Mrs Dawson. Mr Dawson couldn't get out of work no matter how much he shouted and kicked off. The healer was flabbergasted, she had never heard of such an affair, seizures-yes- but sparks flying from the palm afterwards, now that was unheard of. She pronounced River as perfectly fine after not being able to come to a conclusion, she suggested observation and a good amount of rest but other than that, there was nothing more she was able to do.
Needless to say, they were not impressed with the conclusion. Eros sat beside his twin sister holding her hand as he awaited her wakening. Bill sunk down to the ground, his back pressed against the wall and he held his head in his hands. He wished he could do more.
"I don't understand," said Eros, "why would this happen? And why was she with you, Bill?"
