DAY SIX PART TWO

In the hospital grounds not all so far from the hospital's main entrance, there rests a single snail. This snail is an ordinary snail. It is as ordinary a snail as any snail can be and does not stand out in any way as to being any different to any other snail that has ever been, well that is until Audrey comes along.

'I christen thee Johnny Nitro.'

Audrey places a finger onto the shell of the snail and holds it there for a moment or two. The snail begins to vibrate as if it were a sports car revving up its engine while holding onto the hand brake. Audrey removes her finger and by doing this is as if the hand brake of that sports car is released. The snail soon vanishes from view having travelled a few hundred meters in a matter of no more than a couple of seconds. An impossibility? Not in Audrey's world.

Having observed all this, Eric becomes momentarily lost being sure or at least thinking that he is sure that he probably has seen it all now, having been living in Audrey's world for a little while by this particular moment. Can he be at all surprised by anything else that Audrey may or may not do? A question he has no answer for.

In a hospital bed in a room to herself Ellen awakes for the first time since fainting. The first thing she sees before being able to gather her bearings is the sight of Audrey right at the moment that Audrey enters the room and she does so alone.

'No, no, stay away from me you, you whatever it is you are ...'

The look of fear that Ellen exudes is plain to see especially with the fact that she also tries to escape her bed to get away from Audrey.

'Ellen, I mean you no harm, I am your friend, you must know this.'

This does very little in the way of settling Ellen's feelings and concerns, so Audrey tries a different approach. There is plant life within the room, other than Audrey that is so Audrey makes things somewhat special, the flowers in the room shine while Audrey also emanates a similar glow right where it, right where she stands, and this does have an immediate calming effect on Ellen.

'We are good right?' continues Audrey.

'Yeah, we're good' responds Ellen taking everything in and settling back into bed.

There is no danger, Audrey really is a friend and Ellen knows that for sure now. There is no danger, there is nothing to fear. Imagine how such a talent could be used if it were to fall into the control of wrong hands.

'You get yourself some rest and we will catch up tomorrow, is that alright with you?'

'Yeah, definitely', Ellen smiles and feels as good as she can every remember feeling.

Audrey moves to leave the room and Mike enters to be at Ellen's side. Outside the main hospital entrance, Eric, who had remained outside since arriving here, is still trying to find Johnny Turbo having watched how the snail was affected by Audrey's presence, but unfortunately has no luck at all in this endeavour. He gets up off of his hands and knees and brushes himself off when he sees Audrey come his way. They head home via the scenic route.

That journey takes them for a beach walk just as a night sky begins to fall. When the sun has faded out of view the strangely distant moon takes over as a main source of light. It is unusually full and bright and hangs like a torch shining across the water, water that laps close to the trail of footprints that Eric and Audrey leave.

Neither have much to say, in fact their silence makes this moment all the more pleasurable. Sure, by now, they almost do not need words. They each can feel, sense what the other may want to convey. Their walk takes them past a small, abandoned campfire, a triangular collection of sticks burning and crackling away like something that is meant to be, something that belongs to this very moment in time.

The days are indeed passing quickly but remembering ever being without this time seems like something which is way off in the past.

In a future present and along the walk on the outside of that large porthole like window there found on the grass below is a snail. The odds that this could be Johnny Nitro are extremely unlikely to say the least but Johnny Nitro it becomes all the same. The snail is picked up from out of the grass by the side of a footpath and is gazed at.

'Guess I found you after all.'

This moment strangely feels non-linear. It brings back the smell of the beach, the smell of the crackling fire in all its great yet small triangular glory. It is as if everything before and since is being brought together somehow. Indeed, some things, however brief they may be, can remain in a heart, in a soul for a lifetime.

The night brings another day to an end but things by no means are done yet, not by a long shot.
