DAY SEVEN PART TWO
'You know ...' speaks Eric as he and Audrey walk together, side by side with no particular destination figured out quite at this moment. '... This past week has really changed me.'
'Really? How so?'
'You are not an average or even an ordinary guest, but all the same I guess it is more me getting to know myself a bit better more so than actually changing. I was stuck in a rut, a routine. That's what my life was, a routine where every day I was looking to make a buck, all the time and sometimes at other people's expense too.'
'And that's a bad thing?'
'Thinking about it, yeah it was. I've enjoyed this past week. It has been fun. I am actually gonna stop and smell the flowers from here on in ... so to speak. I feel kinda ... free.'
'Good for you though you are acting as if it were all over and that we are never gonna see each other again. We still have plenty of time left to have a lot more fun.'
'Yeah, we do, don't we?'
'We do indeed and tonight we are going dancing.'
With that statement of declaration, Audrey moves a few feet up ahead of Eric. Eric stops for a moment to ponder the possible cause and effect of what Audrey last spoke could be. 'Dancing huh?' he says as he scratches his head. Pretty soon he is moving once again and he moves quickly to once more be at Audrey's side, dancing in some sort of a club scenario with Audrey, now that could end up being one heck of a situation.
Going dancing would definitely be on the cards for as part of this particular evening's activities but before that could or would happen, Eric and Audrey would once again meet up with Mike and Ellen. They would and did meet up at a local sports bar, a place which is part of a much larger complex, a complex which also encompasses the largest night club in town. Strangely enough the night club is known to the locals simply as 'Green's'. The sports bar however would not appear to be such a friendly place, well maybe less the place being unfriendly but more a person.
Audrey, Mike, and Ellen take a seat at a table as Eric went to the bar to order a round of drinks. To get back to the table where the other three sat, Eric needed to pass near a pool table, a pool table where a rather large unsightly gentleman was about to take a shot. This large, unsightly and long thick bearded man saw Eric approach. Eric stopped to allow the man before him room to take his shot. Noticing a stranger standing close by carrying a number of drinks, the thick bearded man crouched over the pool table and purposely delays taking his shot.
Eric mumbles to himself, a second or two after which the rather large pool playing man stands up without having taken any sort of shot at all and moves to confront Eric.
'Is there a problem friend?'
Of course, this rather large man does not think of Eric as being any kind of friend and he had not spoken that word with any thought of endearment added onto it. If anything, he was being confrontational. Eric backed away a little, lowering his head slightly as he did so.
'No, no ... there is no problem here.'
Eric generally does not meet confrontation full on, generally that is when that confrontation is with a much larger and somewhat aggressive looking man but when he needs to, he will get involved. The tray of drinks he is carrying is purposely hit and the drinks fall to the ground. Eric decides to stand up for himself a little more at this point, rather than backing off any further. His new nemesis moves closer to him. Before anything else can happen, Audrey intercedes. Audrey simply moves to stand in front of the aggressiveness and speaks one word.
'Sleep.'
The large man takes a step or two backwards and suddenly becomes somewhat groggy. Before long he sprawls himself all over the pool table knocking all the pool balls away from their positions and pretty soon, he is unconscious with sleep, out cold on that pool table.
'Nice' speaks Eric.
At this point there is a round of applause from a number of people in the sports bar. The large unconscious man is obviously well known as somewhat of a troublemaker, so his sleep is greatly appreciated in more ways than one.
A further hour is spent over drinks in the sports bar. Audrey's actions ensure that the spilt drinks are replaced. The hour passes and then it is on into the night club where the music is loud and the atmosphere great. Audrey spends the best part of the rest of the night out on the dance floor.
Neither Eric nor Mike or even Ellen could keep up. It was fun, it was great, and Audrey was well behaved having done nothing to shock or worry Eric so his apprehension about going to such a place was unwarranted.
Strangely one of the first songs to be played upon entry into the night club is Donna Summers 'I Feel Love' and Eric can't help but dance in a similar fashion to what he did on the morning it had been playing on his kitchen radio.
