Ate had been shocked into silence by Ashlie's words, resorting to following the older girl quietly. She didn't realize her gaze had shifted her feet and nod ahead of herself until she bumped into Ashlie's back.

"Come on." Ashlie quietly told her before grabbing her by the shoulder. "They're working on that generator there."

Sure enough, when Ate looked up, her eyes fell on two people beside a generator. She was guessing that they were speaking to each other, judging by the movement of their lips.

She only had a moment to study the two, one being a girl that seemed to be immersed in her work and the other being a man with a hard look on his face, before the generator whirred to life.

"Fuck yes!" The girl breathed with a grin. "Okay. One more."

"Keep it down. It's bad enough she'll be attracted by the generator." Ashlie scolded.

The man let out a soft chuckle, which surprised Ate due to his hard expression earlier. However, his smile fell as his eyes shifted to her. "Who's this?" He questioned.

"This is Ate. She just got here." Ashlie said. "Ate, that's Nick. He's sort of our leader. He's been here the longest. And then that one's Addie. She's the youngest one here, but she's one of our best on generators."

Addie gave the her a small smile before standing up. "We've gotta go. We've got one more before the gates will be powered." She said.

"She's right. We'll head to the next generator. Ashlie, get the newbie to an exit. Open it as soon as you hear the generator activate." Nick told her before nodding for Addie to follow. She did so, the two quietly heading off.

Ashlie and Ate stood in silence for a moment.

"I don't think that he really likes me." Ate suddenly said.

Ashlie sighed before patting Ate's back and leading her towards the closest door. "It's not that." She told her. "He just hates that another person is here. Another person that has to go through this hellhole. It's really nothing personal. He started feeling that way ever since Addie got here. God, she was only fourteen." She shook her head before her eyes landed on a generator.

Ate could see the gears turning in Ashlie's head.

"I'm going to work on this. Just in case anything happens with their generator. Keep an eye out." Ashlie instructed Ate before kneeling beside the generator and getting to work.

Everything was good. There was no sign of the Nurse. There was no sign of a blown up generator. Things seemed to be going right for them.

That belief was destroyed as a scream was heard. And it wasn't the Nurse's.

"Ashlie?" Ate called, but the older was already ahead of her.

"Shit." She whispered. "Ate I need you to work on the generator. I know you're new, but please." Sh e softly smiled as she earned a nod. "Thank you."

Ashlie quickly turned on her heel and ran towards the source of the scream.

The moment Ate heard another scream, this one drawn out and agonizing to just hear, she knew something was extremely wrong. Her feeling only worsened with the next word she heard.

"Addie!"
