Uni remained against the bedroom door until her heard soft snoring come from the room. He didn't expect her, Ate, to stay awake for much longer. As soon as he felt right about how she was doing, he pushed off the door and made his way downstairs.

"Why the hell is there another one?" He questioned, causing the four in the living room to fall silent.

"What do you mean?" Ashlie asked in response, looked from her work of wrapping Nick's arm to the blue-haired male at the foot of the stairs.

"You know very what I mean," Uni countered. "They told us eight was the maximum they would take. They took eight. So why is another person here?"

There was a moment of silence. Every person in the room knew what he was referring to.

"Do you really think we know anymore than you?" Tommy asked Uni. "We're just as blind as you are. We swear."

Cory nodded. "Dude, we all read the same letter. They said eight. So we're all confused."

Uni simply let out a noise of frustration before settling down in one of the chairs.

"What if they meant eight at a time?" Cory asked. "That would explain it."

"Explain what?" The intruding voice startled the majority of the group.

"Sal, make yourself more obvious next time, will you?" Tommy breathed.

"Sorry. Addie's asleep, so I decided to come down," They explained as they rubbed the back of their neck.

"Anyway," Cory continued, mostly ignoring the interruption. "Uni was saying something about the 'eight rule', the-"

"The rule the weirdass who brought us here made that says they'll only bring eight people, I know," Sal finished his statement.

Cory's lips pressed into a thin line, his eye narrowing. "Yeah. That. Anyway, Uni was saying how, with the newbie, that the rule's been," he took a moment to think of the word, "broken."

"Yes, I can tell. But what explains that?" Sal asked.

"It's eight at a time. Not eight in total," Uni told them. "It's the most reasonable thing."

Sal rose an eyebrow, confused by the purpose of the discussion.

"But why does that matter?" Sal asked. "There's eight of us at a time."

Uni's lips tightened. "Because that means that there can be so many more Jons."
