Chapter Four | Normal
Ate silently followed behind Ashlie and Nick, who was now carrying Addie bridal style. The group had been walking for at least fifteen minutes, but not before Nick and Ashlie worked together to wrap the youngest's shoulder to stop the profuse bleeding.
She still couldn't get the sight of the ragged hole through Addie's shoulder out of her mind. It was terrifying to her. That could have been her.
"Uni! Open the door!" Her head snapped up at Nick's words. Who was Uni? However, her mind turned to another question. What was a house doing in the middle of this forest?
"Nick, we just got here. Give me a second." A strong British accent quickly hit Ate's ears as, who she assumed to be Uni, emerged from the door. She seemed to be the first to notice the small limp in his step, but it didn't seem to keep him from rushing to Nick at the sight of Addie.
"Bloody hell!" He exclaimed, looking over the wound as best as possible. "What happened to her?'
"Hook," Ate spoke up before either of the others could respond. The blue-haired man quickly glanced at her, slightly raising an eyebrow to Nick and Ashlie.
"Later," Ashlie said as she rested a hand on Uni's shoulder. "Please go get Sal. They'll be able to help Addie better than any of us." Uni simply nodded before returning into the house. Nick was quick to follow behind, leaving Ashlie and Ate.
"Ashlie?" Ate asked, earning a hum in response. "What is this place? I know you call it home, but really, what is this place?"
Ashlie sighed. "Let's talk in a bit. We have until midnight tomorrow to get you caught up." She said. "Let's get you some food and some rest." She rested a hand on Ate's shoulder and led her inside.
Ate was taken back by the sight her eyes fell upon. It seemed so normal, but it felt far from it. The tension and worry was evident in the atmosphere. But it still seemed like a normal home to her as her eyes landed on two she hadn't encountered yet, leaning back on a couch and talking among themselves.
"Go get yourself acquainted. Camera-face is Cory. Mask is Tommy." Ashlie gently pat her shoulder before walking upstairs.
Ate went still for a moment before pushing herself to walk to the two. Her footsteps must have been heard by the two men, as they both looked up at her. To her surprise, she simply earned smiles.
"A newbie, huh?" The one Ashlie said was Cory questioned, a smile still on his face. Ate nodded. "Um.. Yeah." She said. "My name's Ate. Ashlie already told me your names. Cory and Tommy?" She earned a nod from Tommy.
"I'm guessing you met everyone?" Tommy asked, earning a nod. "Well, except for Sal, probably. They're most likely taking care of Addie." He continued to tell her about the others she had yet to get to know. Cory and Uni had been friends since forever. Nick and Ashlie were as close as close could be. He was so relaxed. It threw Ate off. So she voiced her thoughts.
"How the hell are you so relaxed?" Ate questioned. That silenced Tommy.
"Because it's nice to be at least a little normal, right?" He asked.
