It wasdark around nine at night. I stood on the balcony the air was thickwith the sweet smells of spring I leaned over slightly my black hairfalling over my shoulder as I watched the hired help finish hangingthe rest of the party lights some of the guest began to arrive cladin their shiny expensive ball gowns and sparkling suits I movedaround uncomfortably I flicked my hair over my shoulder as Icontinued to watch my parents Agatha and Nathan Plin were out thefront greeting them as they walked in through the door

"ma'lady" I heard Maria chime

Iturned around walking inside away from all the commotion from outsideI sighed

"really"I asked Maria

shelifted her arms and showed me the ball gown she was holding alongwith the shoes

"yesmy dear your father did not insist I just decide and besides thereare many the young maybe too be suitors this might be your chance tochoose one before your father does" she wriggled her eye brows Isighed smiling and shaking my head she was a strange one

"oh,Maria if it will make you happy I shall go" I looked up at hereying the dress that was covered in a thin lager of silver plastic"but I don't know what it will achieve"

afterten minutes of awkwardly trying to figure how I put the damn thingon. Maria had been summoned to help with the party I told her Icould do it myself how hard could it be ... well ... it was verydifficult.

"goodgrief Maria could you have picked a more revealing dress?"

Ipaused actually she could have she was being generous this timeleaving a lot of my skin covered I tried to pull it up in a futile attempt to cover my cleavage only causing to fall lower ... I grumbledin irritation I swear this women was obsessed with finding me a man Ipursed my lips at the thought

Inodded to myself walking out from my room and down the spiral staircase as I got to the bottom I was almost blinded by the lightbouncing off the shimmering ball gowns my parents spared no expensefor the ball I shook my head as I walked onto the floor most of themen had already found a pair or had come with one I sighed I hatebeing the odd one out I looked around again and spotted one personwell he wasn't hard to miss the man that had dark brown hair and wasvery tall he stuck out in the moderately short, mainly brown hairedcrowd I looked at him again and saw a women come closer to him
