and evan definitely doesn't cry either when he sees the words wash away, because jared told him losers cry, and- and- to heck with it. he sobs and he's glad his mom isn't home because that would be a conversation, a good one.

"oh, not much, mom, just how my soulmate hates me and hasn't talked to me in almost a decade and when i make contact he just washes it away?"

and why should he believe in soulmates, anyway? his dad was an asshole who never cared about evan or his mom. he never even stuck around. so even just has to believe everything will be alright.
